BTW: I ordered these from Squadron's overstock blow-out sale for half price and got them today. Though it says SEAC on the box they're just RAF late war camo colours.

I've used a few of their armour line and really liked them so hopefully these will work out well.

DB:  good-looking Walrus

Thanks, Bish

Andy:  great assembly with the Hurricane

Gamera:  thanks; unfortunately I still lose a piece from time to time; still looking for a fool-proof system

Steve:  a severe case of too much plastic; glad it seems to be getting sorted out

maybe it is as Steve predicted, a sign of things to come. Bit of an OPP's moment from Italy.

Troy over at Britimodeler has identified the wrong Hurricane wing as being MKIIA, which indeed had the larger engine, hence the ill fit Steve has.  The odd thing about it all is Italeri have yet to release the eight machine gun version of the MKII, and only have the cannon version so far.

Jack, thats what i was thinking. Given that the Mk I was first, then the Mk II, then back to a Mk I. Lets hope the whole Mk I Trop production line is not churning out the Mk II sprue.

Oops

That looks like that's what happened. I have a new sprue tree comming from Italy. I hope the correct one arives before the end of the GB :giggles:

Quick response from Italeri, fingurs crossed.

Thanks Jack. There is some detail on the extended part of the wing. I could trim it back to make things fit but would rather do it right.

Steve, that is good news.

I've posted your hiccup over at Britmodeller because I know a member there has studied the Hurricane inside and out.  Hopeful he replies soon, and I'll ask if the problem can be fixed with the existing parts.  I've doubts though, as I imagine surface detail on the wings will be different since the IIc was cannon armed.

Jack

Steve, holy smokes, I have read the Italeri Hurricane has some minor fits problems, but that goes well beyond that.  Going by this pic Mk I (Top) and IIc (Lower),

... it looks the box contents were a mix up and they put in the wing of the MkIIc?  How do the instructions look, can the mistake be spotted in the illustrations when compared to the actual parts?

As I understand it, the MkIIc had the larger Merlin XX engine, which required 7" extension in the nose.

regards,

Jack

I didn't check Scalemates. The last Italeri release showed it as a new kit, or at least there may have been a parts or decal change. Hmm I guess there's nothing new under the sun. I contacted Hobbyco and they may send me a new kit, or at least get the replacement tree from Italy.

Well thats some good news. Hopefully it will just have been a one off. If not Italeri may be busy.

Steve, i see. Not sure if you have checked the history, but i looked on scalemates and about 4 years ago they did a Mk II that your kit is a follow on from.

The line started with a Mk I in 2011 and there is an in box review on a few sites which show that part of the sprue and it does look smaller than yours.

Eric

Several here have Image Shack including myself. I was paying $18 a year for the last 2-3  of years but the renewal rate this time was $38 for the year. I believe Gamera just joined at 50% off under $20 for the year. It's a very simple and easy site to use. Even $38 for the year is a bargain.

I dumped PB about 3 years ago when it loaded junk into my PC. As a matter of fact, while deleting my pictures and account two nights ago, my Eset antivirus intercepted a Trojan from their site!

EDIT: LOL I just saw that Gamera responded to the same issue a couple of seconds before my post.

EBergerud
Real world has messed things up for me and I've fallen behind the builds. Unless I've got it completely wrong, Photobucket is now charging $40 a month for photo sharing. That is crazy. I would greatly appreciate it if you folk could acquaint me with the alternatives. I know there was some comments a week ago, but it would certainly save me time. I don't mind a pay for service, but $40 a month is nuts. What's better? Thanks much Eric

Eric, I went with ImageShack- forty dollars a year and I caught them on a half-price sale. I've heard good stuff about Flickr and Imgur too, you might want to shop around.

PJ, i hope you didn't get the bathroom and bedroom scheme mixed up with your Spit scheme.

I convinced my wife to paint the living room to match my reproduction US Army WWII (Parsons) "M-41" field jacket, maybe OD #3.  Took the jacket to the paint store for a custom mix, to make sure the color was right.  The room is still that way.

Lol, AWESOME!!!

The joke was:  when I came home with the OD paint, she had a fit; took herself over to the hardware store to get something "better."  When she put it on the wall, it was so disgusting, she had to admit the OD was better.

Well now this is a problem. I glued the fuse half’s together and assembled the wing. As everything was drying I dry fit the wing to take a look at what I was facing for a gap.

Now to my recollection, isn't the leading edge of the wing supposed to fit behind the engine cowl? I thought there must be a piece that fits under the cowl. No. Do I have the wing on backwards? No. Looking through the instructions there isn't a hint of why this is happening.

I will be contacting Italeri and inquiring the possible reason. Is this wing going to be used on a Mk.2 etc.?

Stop the assembly line until a resolution is found. Back to the stash to look for something else while my AB and current build are down.

Again thanks guys!

CMK02: Looks like you've got a very effective way of dealing with small parts there. I might have to try something like that, I always lose something!

DasBeav: She looks pretty cool to me. I wouldn't feel comfortable offering any advice without seeing the model in person and I'm not sure then- sorry. Embarrassed

Andy: Looking fine!

REALLY great work everyone! If I tried to list them all I know I would miss one!

I've been plugging away on the Hurricane and got her mostly ready for paint. Hopefully will lay some primer tonight to check for seams. I'm going to attempt to paint the roundels but I need to do some research on a good Tamiya mix for the red, blue and yellow. Anyone have any experience with this?

Here is a quick pic...
