Almost the home stretch now, Toshi!  Looking good!

Bish

Great to see the decals going on Toshi, looking the part now.

Yes, I was excited to apply the decals on until I realize the massive amount of stencils!  LOL!

Jack, i agree, that does lok very clean. Looking at the areas that had been over painted, i would say it had only carried the national markings before capture, one might almost think this was taken straight from the factory.

Will make for an interesting build.

Thanks Bossman, Greg, and everybody else who left a positive comment. I will trust you were being sincere. LOL.

Well Gee Whiz DasBeav . . . Sure I was being sincere !   I think yer interior looks really Swell !

Sorry man - whenever I see your screen name I think of "Leave it to Beaver" . . . Hope y'all get a chuckle out of that.   Seriously - that's some really nice work.  Way beyond just a bare interior.  It really looks impressive.

Chris

Lol. No problem, Bossman! Life Lesson #53....If you are Jerry Mathers doppelganger at age 7, do not let your girlfriend "steal" your school pictures and show them to all of your friends or you might get stuck with the nickname Beav. After 30 years I've grown to like it. ....BTW...I'm from a large family of Scottish descent so we can't all be called "Mac"...LOL.

These are just the main decals.  I still have to apply the stencils.

Hi  Andy, glad to be of some help ... yes the image is from a book (that I also have), but the link was found at this British forum:

http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235013758-stocky-edwards-fw190/

The author has just the one page dedicated to the subject,  identifying the airframe as an 190 F-8, perhaps due to it's Wk.Nr.?   Note too that bomb rack, external cannon barrels and radio aerial are missing in the photo.

It sported the standard Luftwaffe finish 74/75/76, with no other tactical markings on the fuselage.  Speculation has it as part of an experimentation unit, but the machine itself is not showing much wear, with the prop and engine cowl still having a fresh appearance.

regards,

Jack

No probs Bish, and that's cool to see another Canadian connection in this GB.

-------------------

Some specifics with the painting, it's believed the crosses and swastikas were painted over with British Sky, while the initials 'JFE' were done with roundel blue colour.

regards,

Jack

Jack you are the best! That's some great info. Could you send me a link to that webpage or is that from a book?

Tempestjohnny. ...I have been into those harriers since Arnold Schwarzenegger stole one in True Lies!  It's looking good...looking real good!

So I found a local hobby shop today...local to my current job,  and I was stunned as to what a real hobby shop looks like! Lol  I picked up some Tamiya fine primer surfacer,  and liberally applied it to the lancs fuselage.   I'm hoping to get paint on her this weekend!  I didn't have the thought to order it ahead of time, but I just placed an order with amazon for a new bottle of Pledge, and precut masks for the Lancs glass from eBay...I may be starting work on the props tonight, so stay tuned!

Gamera

Greg: Looks great! You've done a better job on those teeny-tiny PE parts than I ever could.

Steve: I have no idea what all those aftermarket bumps and thingees do but they look cool.

Toshi: She's coming along great! Too humid here to airbrush, the paint simply won't dry. Hopefully I'll get some done this weekend too.

TJ: Nice seeing her almost done. Guessing it's the tiny stenciling left to go?

Thank you Gamera.  It started to rain here and is getting humid as well.  I'm just glad I got things done in time.

Beav, you interior detail work and all that scratch work is quite impressive. Well-done!

Justin, that big old 4-engine bird is coming along nicely.

Johnny, decals a really dressing that jet up. Stencils, lots of stencils? Oh my.

Toshi, I enjoyed your comparison of airbrushes, and your masking was very colorful! Smile And you camo is coming along nicely.

Toshi, Johnny, CMK, Bish, Gamera; Thank you for taking the time to comment on my progress.

Thank you.  I enjoyed comparing the three different Iwata AB as well.  I needed to as for reference into this project.  My assumptions were correct in each AB capabilities.

The only AB I did not add to the comparisons was the Harbor Frieght Siphon AB that came with my compressor also from HF.  I figured no one would be interested in this particular AB.

The masking was leftover tape that I had.  The rest of my stash is the neon green Frog Tape.   LOL!

Thank you for your very kind comment on my camoflauge.  It is greatly appreciated.

Jack, thanks for that info. 127 Wing was a candian wing under RAF command being part of the 2nd TAF. So yes, the Butcher Bird counts.

The above captured 190 has the intials of a Canadian pilot known as Stocky Edwards.  Around that time he was CO of No. 127 Wing RCAF.  Maybe the bird was also tested by the RAF at some point, I don't know - if not, it be a great subject  for Bish's proposed Commonwealth GB for later on?

Jack

This might be a stretch but would something like this qualify for the GB Bish?

Came across a few of these pics and thought it might be fun since I just picked up a Hasegawa F-8 this past weekend.

For a long time i had ignored British aircraft from post war upto the 90's. But now they are starting to grow on me. Must be my age

I feel the same way about all NATO post war aircraft (still can't get into Russian yet)

I ran across a 1/72 Revell Sepecat Jaguar gr.1 at a nice price. I might have a go at that one as well at some point.

The Jag is one i do like. I grew up with them almost on my doorstep, but the 50's and 60's RAF types i just found a bit un-interwsting and those in the 70's, well it was the 70's. But i have always been into the 80's/90's types, Tornado's and so on. I guess tastes change.

The first of many decaling sessions. There is a ton of stencils

stencils are a very tedious job.  I know you are a master at stenciling and I look forward to learning from you.

Toshi

you're too kind

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Toshi, really coming together now, looking really nice.

Thank you Bish!  This project is moving along much better than I expected.  I've really enjoyed this build and I have so much more to go. It brings me great joy to share my build on this GB.

Toshi

Well, its a pleasure to have you and everyopne else. I really do enjoy running GB's (who would have guessed Big Smile) and its even better when we see builds like that and seeing people get enjoyment out of being a part of it.
