It really helped having my silhouette cutter because I would go nuts cutting all those strips of tape by hand.

Yeah, but you also measured it so the squares work out exactly. That blows my mind.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Thanks guys. It really helped having my silhouette cutter because I would go nuts cutting all those strips of tape by hand. Also great  to have all the strips exactly the same width. Makes visualizing things much easier when working out the masking by eye.

Don Stik, I need to be fitted for cement overshoes as I didn’t get the Stearman done in the 6 month window.  The weather got too cold for the wood stove to keep the works warm enough to spray paint.  I’ll dig around and see what I’ve got to make another attempt.

Listen Shamoo, Don't stress yourself out. It sounds like you need to take a little vacation and cool your heals in Vegas. The car is outside wait'n to tak yas to da airport if you know what I mean...

Lots of great progress guys and gal. Plenty of fine builds.

CB, I gotta ask as to how the cockpit tub came loose? That really is a bit of a ggrevation.

Well it stayed in place pretty well without glue when I was dry fitting and consequently I guess I forgot to glue it before joining the fuselage...

The lost cockpit has been put back in its place!

Excellent to see!

Thanks Steve. There sure are some great builds here. And apologies to all once again for my lapses in running this build.

Lots of good stuff going on here guys! I've gotten as far as moving the Do335 to my workbench before getting hit with both the flu and strep throat. I'm finally starting to feel better so hopefully I'll be able to get started within the next couple of days.

Thanks cb! Although I did bone up some of my of the camo scheme... but since this is gonna be a ceiling hanger for my great nephew, I’m not gonna fix it. Only a serious RAF Hurricand fan, not a 3 year old, would spot my goof anyways...

Speaking of which, very nice job for masking those checks! You have serious talent and patience there. I see what you did wrong during the process. Looking at the last photo, you would never know it...

i was starting to wonder about this P-47 build of yours...

Thanks stik. Hit some construction turbulence with the jug. Mostly paralysis by analysis stuff. With the Fw finished I am back on the P-47 with refreshed enthusiasm!

Stick, The Hurricane is looking quite nice.

I have moved back to the P-47. Time to mask cowl checkers. What a pain. Notice my major screw up in one of the pictures below? That was a bonehead move!

Just 3 more rows of checkers to go! This is worse then masking a Ju-188 canopy.

UP, either the SBD or the 262 will work, as they are both original Monogram kits. The SBD is from the 60’s and the 262 from around 80 or so. Remember it’s two completions within six months of your start date.

Ill get you on the roster here.

Hi stik, sign me up! I'd like to enter a Monogram 1/48 F4F Wildcat and I'm undecided about the second one. I'm thinking a ME 262 or the SBD Dauntless. The design and molds on both kits are older, but I think the manufacturing is done outside the US. Will either one qualify for the group build?

Thank you Tony. I’m keeping it as simple as can be with this one.

Shamoo, you can start a new pair in six months if you feel so inclined... unless you’d rather get those shoes....

And here are the updates on my Hurricane. Last Saturday I put down a base coat of Humbrol Midstone on the upper surfaces.

Then today I did the upper camo pattern of Dark Earth followed by the lowers in Azure... all Humbrol enamels

Nice work on the Hurricane, Stik, and very nice finish on the 190 CB. These old kits still look good after a good modeller works them over !

Cheers
