Thats looking good Bobby, figures are a nice addition and well done on the masking.

Thank you sir!  I hope I'm doing the Kenyan Army proud.  LOL!  I'm having a great time with my first helo!

Great work Bobby, looking forward to seeing the next round of updates.

I need to add a helo to my collection one of these days.

Thank you!  It is a nice kit.  And for my first helo....I'm looking forward to doing another one now.  It's a nice break from my usual builds.  Thanks again!

Chad: Thanks, the decal looks good enough for me in any case.

Bobby: Two sets of pilots? Hmmm, might have to pick up one of these too for the spare parts box.

Yeah, the kit can be done up in three versions.  Israeli, Kenyan, and a test chopper..I think for some new optics package.  There is a different optics for that one.  So I'm thinking they are like "test" pilots or something.

So....I've been taking pics of the progress of the Kenyan chopper...but forgot to post them!  That's pathetic huh?  LOL!

So, here are the progress pics of the MD500.  It has been a really nice kit, fit is good, the only thing I have found to be a bummer so far is the fit of the "glass".  I little awkward, but managable.  Here she is so far.

Bobby,

Great job on the MD500. Hey, you can always paint it like TC Chopper!

Your MD500 looks very good so far, Eagle90! I have this helo and would like to build it soon, so I'm taking note on how your build goes :) The decals in mine seem to be very poor and out of register, though. The star in the Israeli roundels aren't even in the center of the circle. I don't know if it's the same for you?

Thank you!  LOL!  I have considered getting another one and doing a Magnum P.I. thing with it...There may be one specific for that show too.  Have to look into that.  Thanks again!

Thank you!

You are correct on the decals.  They are not in the best shape.  As for the kit itself, she is a nice one.  The fit is pretty darn good except for the clear parts.  They don't fit just right, but with extra glue here and there they turn out alright.  The masking of the clear parts was fun!  What I did this time was I masked all the clear parts before gluing them on.  It was just much easier to mask them not being on the plastic already.  Just be sure to "score" around the edges lightly to break up any paint build up so the tape comes off easier.  I did a bit of detailing on the cockpit just to find out that even with all the clear plastic, you can't see much in there.  LOL!  Other then that, it's a very nice kit.

This sure looks like the Italeri kit I did last year!   your doing a great job on it!

I was always knocking off the forward door frame rail on the open door side before I added the main glass piece.  I added sensors, antennas, seat belts, wires on the rocket pods and hollowed out the sensor in the front and added a glass piece on it.

Bobby: Yeah, I was wondering with the extra pilots if one of the civilions could be modified to look like Roger E. Mosley aka T.C.

John: Oh wow, nice work there!

WOW!  That does look very much like mine.  But I think yours have more detail on the outside too.  I don't have the sensors on the top of the boom.  That is a really nice build!!!  I didn't think to tint the top glass green!  Brilliant!

Very good thought!  I bet you could!  Getting the helmet sanded off would be the hardest part probably.

Well here is the finished chopper.  What a fun kit.  Other then the odd fitting clear parts, it was a great kit.  I know there are probably some mistakes in there, but I hope I didn't offend the Kenyan Army.  LOL!  Enjoy!

I had a lot of fun with this.  Once the fusealge was together things went pretty fast.  I'm going to call it done.  I hope you enjoy the different scheme.

The "Canada" on the sponson seems a bit large, but it was intended for a Chinook.  But, I think it's fitting for it to stand out a bit on this project.

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.

Have fun.
