I'm pretty sure Eduard used the Roden kit as a basis for their own.  Perhaps their instructions are better:

I build 1/48 scale WW2 fighters.

Have fun.

Everything is in place and the two sides of the fuselage went together nicely with only minor filing needed.

Got the day off for working the holiday yesterday. I went ahead and pre-shaded. I hoped to get the blue paint down this evening but found a few issues here and there so I'm going to touch them up and then pre-shade again over them. Thankfully it's only about 10% or so to repaint.

Looks good G, be nice to see the blue go down.

I've put my Apacxhe on hold for now until i decide what i am going to do about the canopy. E-mailed the UK importer 4 times and not a peep back, even an e-mail to say sorry we can't help would have been nice. So much for customer service.

Gamera - Great work mate, your on the home stretch and I cant wait to see her done.

Bish - Sorry your having such issues with that canopy of yours. I hope your able to have it sorted after all your hard work to date.

I have hit a road block i.e. me. I have filling, sanding, more filling and sanding, re-scribing, polishing then rinse and repeat. So I have done nothing on my build since I attempted to polish my canopy with limited success.

In Progress
1/48 Tamiya P47-D Bubbletop
1/48 Hobby Boss TBF-1C Avenger (on hold)
Pending
1/48 Roden S.E.5a

More progress made on one of my two Meteors.  I should be right to have the decals on them both next weekend.  The markings on the one on the left, have been down with masks made up on my portrait cutter.

Ye, i am very dissapointed by the total lack of response. I guess i have been spoilt from the great service i have had from eastern euopean companies. I have sent Academy Europe a slightly sarcastic e-mail asking them to thank the UK importer for a total lack of resonse. I will look into the suggestions people have made but will also have a word with some guys at the model club, see if anyone can help.

Lets just hope the Phantom and Blenhiem builds go more smothly than my first 2.

TROY, lovely work on those markings, really coming on well.

Damouav: Yeah, been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Hopefully you'll be motivated to get back in there soon!

Troy: Wow, those look fantastic!!! Love the marking on the portside one!

CN: Great looking camo there!

Bish: Keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully someone will finally get back with you... Sad

Not much to show from here. I cleaned up the problem areas and resprayed the pre-shading Sat. While the airbrush was loaded with gloss black I went and sprayed all the landing gear parts and engine etc that will get NM finishes. I've used a couple different things for undercoating Alclad but Model Master Acrylic gloss black has always given me the best results. Will post more photos when I get the blue paint applied.

Struts and the top wing are added, now the 26 wires which will be a bit of a challenge, or 29 wires if I add the antena too.

Bish please add me to the roster when you have time as I am still in for this build. Here are some progress pics of my 1/72 Italeri Jaguar GR.1. I have most of the body together and have soaked the glass in futures. I need a micro lens to get a good pic of the pit. There is not a ton of filling and sanding to do but that is where I am at next. The second photo is the color scheme I have chosen and quite frankly why I picked up the kit to begin with. I am looking forward to painting this one for sure. Thanks for letting me join in!

There has been very little progress on my F-1.

I am waiting for decals an in the meantime I did the pannel wash, re-shaped the the kit supplied bombs to the more correct shape and did the CL fuel tank.

Would love to join in on this. Not sure with what. I do have a 1/72 Italeri RAAF Hawk 200 that I started in 2008 or so, not sure how far along I was on it but I think I just got the cockpit done. If it is not allowed I am certain I will be able to find a suitable wingy thing in my stash. TIA

Jack, will do and rreally nice to have a jag on board. I grew up with these over head all the time, their base at Coltishall was only a few miles from where i grew up in Norwich, love this aircraft. Great choice of scheme as well, not seen that before.

Great! I will search for it and take a look. Got it on my last visit to Perth on the USS Kitty Hawk but didn't finish it on that cruise, though I did manage to finish a 1/72 Marine H-34. I just hope that, whatever it's assembly status, it is still in one piece! I have since left Japan twice, returned once and now retired! LOL

Count me in with a 1/48 Airfix Tropical Hurri. I just cracked this one this weekend and have been meaning to get back to spending more time on here.

OK, I'm in with an Airfix 1/48 P-40B. It will carry the colors and markings of a Tomahawk IIA or IIB. (The P-40B and P40C were almost identical physically: the C had self-sealing tanks and connections for a drop tank. When in British service they were called Tomahawks - later P40s were Kittyhawks and substantially different aircraft. The official USAAF name was "Warhawk" but I interviewed several US P-40 pilots and never heard anyone use the term - ever - the plane was a "P-40." We favored numbers - it was the Brits that named airplanes - including several of ours like Mustang or Lightning.) As you can see, I bought the Airfix P-40B which has US or Flying Tiger markings. Fortunately I have some decals that will serve well for Desert Air Force. Had I waited a couple of months, I could have bought the Airfix Tomahawk and saved myself a little bother. Here's the kit:

kit by Eric Bergerud, on Flickr

I bought a Polish made mask that's visible - hope it works. The complex Desert Scheme is Dark Earth, Middle Stone, and Azure (or light blue - I'm going to see how common that was) so I've got some serious color mixing to do. That's fun for me and a task made for Golden High Flow with their heavy duty mixing colors. This model cries for black basing and very heavy fading and it will get it.

One thing I do promise - there will be no shark's teeth. The Germans invented the scheme for the BF110 and it's ugly there and ugly on a P-40. (I'm going to shift the Chinese decals that comes with the kit to an Eduard P I-16 which was used by China in large numbers in the late 30s. The AFG was actually in service for a very short time. So maybe the US P-40B was the better kit for my purposes.) Many squadrons in Desert Air Force used the teeth too - but not all.

Desert Air Force was the Commonwealth war effort in action. I think there were pilots from every country - especially from Oz. The pic below is a Kittyhawk flown by Clive "Killer" Caldwell who was the Top Gun from Oz with 28 kills - most in a P-40 - including a couple of LW "Experten."   So, we're thinking of something along this line (unfortunately I don't have Caldwell's exact markings):

Can't promise anything, but I'm still thinking of the Takom M-3 Lee and give it Indian Army markings. The Lee proved very useful in Burma - somewhat to the surprise of Slim's officers. Anytime you hear "the terrain isn't good for tanks" bring tanks. And if the terrain is good for tanks, bring tanks. Eric

Bish, Don't know what's up but I'm not getting any posts from this forum - also been dropped from the 1943 GB forum. (For instance, I didn't get a copy of the post I made introducing the P-40. Any help appreciated. Eric
