Alright, calling this one DONE!  It wasn’t great:  the WORST decals I’ve ever seen, thanks to Revell of Germany; some major fit problems with the front canopy section, which resulted in a cracked canopy (although the rear canopy piece fit perfectly - weird!); and the narrowly averted tail-standing issue, but for a kit I only paid, I think, a dollar for, I’m relatively pleased.  I really like the Hawk as a subject, so maybe I’ll try one again, just with a better quality kit.

Ta, I was worried that it looked to heavy but at work I am  busy riggin a PT-13d Kadet at the moment and after compating the 2 it looks more acurate to my eye now.

I battled with EZ line to rig this tiger, and decided to try somthing new.
I was making molds for the Mirage 3 todat and whyle cleaning the brush some of the bristles fell out.....wait a tick I though  

  
The rigging wires on Tigers were all flat rolled steel wires and the bristles are flat...bingo!

So I cut them to length and glued them on, granted they are a little heavy in scale but any smaller and it looks wrong. As a bonus they were black, just like the painted rigging wires on early tigers

Castel - Very nice work on the pit and build to date, pitty you had issues getting things to fit.

Theuns - What a great job you have done, cant wait to see the rigging,  well done.

Hi everyone,

I have had a real struggle with this AZ Mohawk over the past few weeks, despite initially thinking that this was to be a straightforward build, the gods of plastic modelling intervened and reminded me of their presence!

The first was a really bad fit of the fuselage halves, with the cockpit base, though despite continous sanding, it forced the fuselage out, and the intricate cowling would not align and i was faced with this.

The three piece wings, as expected, were a challenge, though with gap filling CA they sat down but left a significant trench. 

So a mammoth session of filling and sanding as been undertaken, and post polishing I have found a few more areas that need touching up again. So this is how it stands, or sits, at the moment.

When Im happy that all the gaps have been covered and tidyed up, ill wash the Mohawk, rescribe and prime. For now Im going to have a break from this,as work is rearing its head and the limited time of the Aces GB will give me a change.

Dang Castel, your a trooper to power through those issues. Good job fixing the gap. I wonder, did the kit's alignment of the pit put it too far forward?

The fore-aft position seems to be ok, it looks like the rear end is too high. But, how do marines say, improvise, adapt and owercome, if I remember well.

Theuns, I ordered the civialian version of the Tigermoth a month ago but it still hasn't arived yet . I hope it turns out as well as your's is.

O dear, one thing after another with that pit. Good to see it coming together despite the issues.

BUT....

It looks like the pilot flew too low over a circular saw

Dry fitting the wing, it looks good

BUT....

See that gap between the rear seat and the fuselage? It shouldn't be there

It also means that, despite the pit being where it is, it sits too high so the canopy can't be instaled in closed position

BUT...the kit supplies the canopy for the open position as well, so will try to improvise something.

BUT...

See thet small piece beside the airplane in the above photo? It goes behind the pilot's seat. BUT... Either the piece is too nerrow or the cockpit is too wide???

Great job! And I just realized this is a 1/72 kit. You are a better man than me to rig this aircraft. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished!

I need to add the walkway decals , microsol it all and then seal with clearcoat before the fiddly rigging starts.

Ouch! That gap is terrible. A case of engineering gone wrong. The pit does look great, though.

Blimey, thats certainly not what you would expect. Someone didn't do their calculations correctly did they.

The pit was supplied with the kit. Here is what it looks like.

Nice job on the pit castel, i take it that the kit supplied one. I could understand having to trim if it was resin, but not good if the kit one doesn't fit.

A bit of a work on the tub . Now, if only the two sides of the fuselage would nicely close around it, and they do not by quite a margin , it would be great. So, now I have to find where to trim....
