I get home and there on the porch are multiple boxes.  No surprise...I'm an Amazon junkie and knew I had some coming in today...but there, amonst the Amazon boxes was a mystery box!  I opened it and there it was..a present from Santa!!!  And I must say, I teared up.  That is the nicest wrapped gift I have ever gotten!  I don't get gifts wrapped that nicely from family!!!  So Santa...THANK YOU!!!  I don't bloody care what model it is..IT'S A MODEL!!  LOL!  yeah, I'm a bit excited.  I don't get models for Christmas anymore like I did when I was younger, so this is making my day/Christmas!

Thanks Santa!

To my giftee, you don't know who you are yet, but you will. I'm a little behind mailing. Army Reserve stuff has had me busy the last week since I got the address but I'm home and will get your box of goodness out asap. ;)

Carry on

HL finally got the new Airfix P-51 in and I grabbed one yesterday....all I got was when are you going to build what you already have.

So far this one is patientAngel

I don't even bother to try an pull a fast one on my gatekeeper. I simply tell her it's time for her to buy something nice for herself. She knows this to be code for "I bought another kit to add to the dozens I already have." But, I've put myself on a diet of sorts and I won't let myself by anymore kits until I widdle these others down by at least half first. It's tough but I am coping.

Even if I snuck it by her, she could and can still spot in my stash no mater how deep I burry it. I think she has it memorized, her own versoin of Scalemates.

My best and only trick really, was to track the package and when I got a notification that it was delivered, I took off early (I could do that at my job at the time) to intercept before the all knowing gatekeeper came home. That only worked on occasion. The times it did work, I planed my purchases to deliver during the week. My luck was, due to some delay, they were delivered on Saturday.

I found it's just best to be upfront. I told her to expect 2 gifts from forum members because of the GB and let me know as soon as they arrive. Her response was "I'll be looking for them"

I'll post when she tells me when they arrive. I'll be home from the 23rd through the 31st. I'll bring them back to Dallas with me to start on them immediately on New Years day. Stick out tongue

I explained the workings of the GB to my lady, and warned her a box will be coming sometime in the near future.  Kind of got the same look and it said...yeah, right.

At least no younguns to blow the whistle.

Yeah!  We could have a whole forum page dedicated to excuses to get kits past the marital gatekeeper

Well, I think my Santa delivered today.  My daughter brought in the mail and announced that ”Daddy got another model“. This resulted in a sharp look from my wife.  I told her I didn’t have anything on order.  Shes heard that one before.....

My wife took the liberty of wrapping it up before my prying eyes could get a look.  So to my Santa, Thanks!

i have my gift ready to ship out.  Should be in the mail Friday.

If it's a subject I know I'll get them something I either have and know it's good or something I want to get at some point. I'll usually check reviews on something I'm not familiar with, Good reviews.....Yes It's theirs.

I feel the same way, but hopefully it would be something on their wish list, or something they normally wouldn't get for themselves, but in their realm.

And curve balls and sliders can come across the plate as easy as a fast ball down the middle.Big Smile

I'm always concerned if they will like my choice, especially if the wish leaves a wide margin to choose from (kinda like my wish lists do), or my curve balls

Sounds like most of us have it all sorted out. If anyone is having problems finding thier gift or has any other questions PM Steve or myself and we will get some help headed your way.

This looks to be one of the funnest SSGB's we've done. AWESOME!!!

That stinks.  I have ordered twice in the past from that company and both times received the same response. Glad you got everything worked out in the end.

Well, this is a revolting development......put in the order, paid, confirmed.  Half hour later get an email, cancelled and refunded the card payment.  No explanation.  So much for Hobbymodels in the future.

Reordered from another supplier with a slight change in contents.

Ditto

Exactly what GH said. It's easier anyway, one shipping cost.

Seems that most will have it sent directly to the giftee.  Cuts out the middleman and retains the anonimity of the sender.....keeps the giftee wonderingBig Smile

Just a quick question - if a order the gift online do I send it to the giftee, or do I first ship it to myself?
