Mopar Madness

Thank you my friend.  I would love to see one of these in person! It was the starter set.  Generally they come with a very limited number of decals but this one was pretty extensive.

I believe these later starter sets that are based on new tool kits have everything from the kit they were based on with just the extra paint and glue.

I have been lucky enough to fly in Sea Kings a few times, including these yellow ones down in the South Atlantic. I even got winched up into one, that cable looks very thin, especially when your hanging 20 feet in the air over rocks.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

That yellow is striking.  Is that a rescue scheme?  Really nice job.

EDIT:  Whoops - just saw the huge RESCUE markings... thats what happens when you move from phone to computer

Thanks,

John

Now that is nice Chad. You have really brought out the best in the all yellow scheme, really well done. I will get that added to the front.

I did a stint in the Falklands in 2011 and the 2 Sea Kings there carried the same markings, i have a pic of one i took the previous year when i was there, i might have to grab one of those, i just need to change the tail code. Am i right in thinking that the starter set?

Hello friends! I’m calling this one done. My wife has an interest in the history and lineage of the royal family so I thought I would build the helo belonging to HRH Prince William.   Such a nice kit to build and the decals were the best I’ve encountered!   Thank you for following along.  I think the first picture would be most appropriate for the front page

Bish, I’ve got a pair of Buletits I’d like for you to see.  The Sea King is done, pics coming soon, and the Ka-25 is coming along nicely so I’d like to present my next GB contribution.  I’m swerving away from military subjects and delving into some of Airfix’s more peaceful subject matter.

Frank, Those masks are so helpful!

Yeah, I've used other masks in the past but Eduard masks work well for me.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

John, based on the picture I’m not seeing any big issues with the filter.

Gettin' closer to paint! I ordered the Eduard canopy mask for this kit. Really nice to buy the right accessory and have it fit like it's supposed to. And then have enough excess to fill in the gaps.

Yes, I remenber watching the moon missions with astronaut Gene Cernan. I remeber him calling it the LEM, Lunar Excursion Module.

When Apollo 11 landed in '69, I was 8 years old. The expected time of the "moon landing" as it came to be known was to be around 2-3am. The whole family was going to stay up and watch it. Well, being 8 years old, I didn't make it and fell asleep. When I woke up, and questioned when is it going to happen, my mom just shrugged and said "you missed it". Thanks mom and dad! Crying

Mark, nice work on the lunar module. I don't think the 'experiments' detract at all, I think they enhance the dio.

Here's a bit of useless trivia I wonder if anyone else remembers. The Lunar Module was originally to be called the Lunar Excursion Module, and was commonly referred to by it's acryonym "the LEM" during it's design/build stage. At some later time, the "excursion" was dropped, and it became the Lunar Module, or LM. I remember it being referred to as the LEM by some of the more scientific news personalities of the times. In modern times, it seems to be called the 'lunar lander' as much as anything. I see Airfix still refers to the 'Lunar Module" on the box.

Mark, thats come out really well. I agree a bigger base would be beter, maybe useing the base you have and extending from there. But it still doesn't detract from what you have done with it.

Thank you for shareing that with us, front page is updated.

Greg, got the Humber down as well.

hopefully I'll be joining you this year for Modelpalooza

That would be neat. I used to spend a lot of time in the Bonita Springs/Ft Myers Beach/Naples area and I'd be interested to hear how you are getting on down in Naples.

"Do the shows never end down there, Eagle? I love shows with vendor areas."

Hey Greg!  Thanks!  There are a lot of shows in Florida but I hit 3 or 4 a year.  The one in Plant City had it's first show last year!  They have their second next weekend!  It was a really good size show and the entries were awesome!!  There is one in Largo, but they do it every other year.  Another really good sized show with lots of vendors.  The one in Venice is really nice too.  Very good venue with lots of awesome builds.  But Modelpalooza...now that's the big one I go to!  Thats' where I meet JJ and Plasticjunkie.  We always have a nice lunch and then go back to commando through the vendors.  Ahhh, the vendors.  I usually take $200-$300 with me to each show and spend a lot of time in the vendor area.  LOL!  Been buying a lot of Bandai Star Wars stuff lately.  Culttvman knows be by first name.  LOL!

Monty's vehicle will be a great build.  Can't wait to see it!

Houston...Tranquility base here...the Eagle has landed.

Well it didn't turn out too bad. The are alot of fragile parts especially on the ascent stage. The model base is so small adding all the extra "experiments" detract from the lander I think. Maybe a bigger scratch built base would be in order. Until then I'm considering this one done.

Eagle90,

That is one good looking internal bomb bay. You don't see them modeled very often. That Nimrod is packing one serious punch!

Bobby, nice to hear from you. It's been too long.

I just hopped over to the Modelpalooza site and it looks like the hotel/convention center it is supposed to be held at this year has closed. I thought the prices looked too good to be true, and the reviews were a little bit scary. I am hoping to be in the area by that time next year. Last year I was late getting down. 2 1/2 months late. Grrr.

Is the Largo one an IPMS show? I'm only really interested in shows if they have a vendor area and you mentioned the one in Largo is pretty good.

Nice entry Greg, i'll get you down. And you have nearly 7 months, so no excuses. Wink

Yes, but I'll only be home for 4 or so of those 7 months, so naturally I start worrying as is my nature.....

Thanks for getting my TBD entry updated, Bish.

Got the first coat of yellow down on Prince Williams copter.  Probably going to lay down 2 or 3 more.  The bits and bobs are painted and ready for detailing.

Awesome build!!  I thought I heard somewhere once that he used the copter to pick up his future wife (or visit her somewhere)!  What a way to impress huh?!  I was lucky enough to pick up a date with my uncle's Camaro!  LOL!
