Chad - for a guy with a car-guy handle you sure do stunning aircraft!  That 109 looks fantastic.  I'm planning on doing a SeaKing myself - the 1/48 Hasegwawa kit.  I'll be watching.

So the defiant is coming along.  Having to re-read the instructions a few times to figure out the 'posable/movable' parts around the turret.  I put down the dark earth today, let it set up and I may try my new badger krome and do a freehand cammo or I may stick to the sausage party which has proven to be a solid tight cammo technique.

Thanks,

John

Bish

I have used Print Scale decals and had no issues with them.

Ditto

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

That’s correct. They do mention Australia other places in the instructions. That is a little misleading though.  I don’t have any experience with these decals but hopefully they’ll  lay down better than those mid-2000’s Airfix decals!

Possibly. I have a decal set for the Royal Navy 75th anniversary livery which I’m tempted to use.  Both are quite striking!

That is a nice scheme. Though judging by the flag and the 75 years, i think Print Scale may have that slightly wrong. That should be the Royal Australian Navy, founded in 1911.

The Royal Navy is a tad older than that.

Thank you so much Stik,  aside from the poor decals it really was a great kit.

Got the fuselage for the Sea King put together. A few minor fit issues but nothing a little filling and sanding can’t overcome.  The trick now will be to get the fuselage sealed up as quickly as possible to avoid getting sanding dust inside the fuselage. Removing it from those back windows wouldn’t be easy.

Mopar, that came out gorgeous! I thought that I had enough 109s in my stash, but now you have me thinking real hard about getting one of the Airfix Emil kits. Most inspiring work!

Bish, with the fuselage closed on my Sea King, I’m ready to start assembling the bits and pieces that comprise the floats, gear, etc...  So my next contribution to this fine GB will be the lovely 1/72 Fairey Fulmar Mk I.  The original molds were from Vista and they look to be more like limited run specimens rather than something that would come from a mainstream manufacturer.  Crossing my fingers on this one!

Interior of the Sea King is done, just need to seal up the fuselage. The 109 E-7 is all but done. Just waiting on the landing gear to dry so I can put on the gear doors and wheels.

Well, here she is: Maggie's Drawers! MPC/Airfix 1/72 scale A-26B. The kit is built straight out of the box. No after market except decals. Not the best build I've ever done but not the worst either. The NMF is Alclad Aluminum. The black stripe on the tail is MM Flat Black enamel. I built the kit to pose in flight so I wouldn't have to put a ton of weight in the nose. Besides the airplane looks a lot slicker in flight. Since there is pretty much no interior, I painted the inside of the clear parts flat black. The model depicts an A-26 of the 671 BS 416 BG, Spring 1945.The stand is from Cult TV man. The decals are Kits World.

You know, as much as I prefer to work in 1/48 scale, everything I've done for this group build has been smaller. The next kit in line is a new tool Airfix P-51D done as Col. Bruce Carr's "Angels' Playmate." Stay tuned.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Tomcat, thats coming on really well, and you have some great referance pics. Does the lander come with a seperate base.

I was going to ask how you were going to do the footprints, but i see they have thought of that. Very nice.

The lunar landing is a cool subject and kit. I look forward to seeing how it turns out. I found some time to finish the Tomcat this weekend. I did some additional touch up painting on the decals, painted the AIM's and added one last coat of flat testors. I should have seated the craft a bit more centered on the base but I think it still came out looking pretty cool in takoff mode. Thanks for letting me join in this group build.

Update on the Lundar Lander...

This kit is more than just the "Eagle" lander and astronauts. It also comes with 4, "experiments" as the kit labels them.

Seeing as this is my first Airfix kit, I thought I'd start here. The moon surface base and astronauts are WIP, but the expertiments came out ok...

As it turns out, after doing some research, Apollo 11 had experiments with them, here are their images...

I couldn't find any photo of the parabolic dish, so I used some modellers license with it.

The astronauts need some work then onto the lander. I just have to come up with a way to replicate this...

All that gold colored Mylar surrounding the base. MMM I have an idea.

Thanks Bish.  Did all Mediterranean planes in that theater carry that same white stripe?

Yes, they should have done. And often white tips for the wings on the underside. Its the same for those on the Eastern front but they were yellow.

Thank you sir.  I’m glad I posted this photo. After seeing it I realized I forgot the white unit stripe at the rear of the fuselage! Glad I caught that before I started weathering.

Its not a unit strip, its the Med Theartre strip. But well spoted.
