Nice-looking deHavilland, John. (Not sure if that is the right nomenclature, but that's what we always called them being piston guys drooling at the jets on the ramps. Cool you get to build something you flew.

Eagle90

I'm keeping my eye open for some of these at the next show (which happens to be next saturday!!)!

Do the shows never end down there, Eagle? I love shows with vendor areas.

Your jet aircraft (which I have no idea what it is, is looking good).

Chad, I'll be watching to see where that yellow helichopper of yours is going with interest.

So me, I'm back near my bench for the summer and haven't touched a thing. Thought maybe if I posted a pic of the kit I finally acquired for the GB, it might get me motivated. Or not. But here goes anyway:

This is way out of my zone, but it caught my eye whilst shopping Airfix. I see there is another one being built here.

Sorry for my lack of participation over the cold season. Don't think I've ever finished a kit in 4 months, but I can give it a go.

Got the first coat of yellow down on Prince Williams copter.  Probably going to lay down 2 or 3 more.  The bits and bobs are painted and ready for detailing.

Man, there are some great looking Airfix kits out here!  I'm keeping my eye open for some of these at the next show (which happens to be next saturday!!)!

Here are a couple of progress pics.  I masked and painted it the other day.  Turned out pretty good I think.  I'm not too knowledgable on these type aircraft so I just went with the load out in the instructions for the version I did.  If it is accurate..wow, this beast was nothing to mess with huh?!  Enjoy!

OK, Martin, this one has hit the finish line.  I'm going to start on the B-57 pretty soon but I'm going to do a Hasegawa 1/48 first, OOB I promise, because my Wildcats are lonely.

It's done in the scheme of the one I flew for a time.  The cabin windows are clear epoxy, decals were made with a Dell 1250C color laser printer, and Bare Metal Foil replicates the weeping wing surface deicing system.  It's not perfect, but then neither was the real one.  But as I do the real one, I forgive it it's faults and will remember it fondly.

I think I like the second to last picture the best.

Chad, really nice job on the Fulmer, another one we don't see often, and its come out well. Will get that on the front page and add the helo as well. Talk about subjects we don't see often. be good to see what you do with that.

Bish - The Fulmar is finished and the Sea King is ready for primer/paint so I’d like to submit another Airfix classic.  The 1/72 Ka-25c Hormone.  Such a weird little thing!

Glad to see so many nice Airfix kits being given the love they deserve!   So, I think I am going to go ahead and call this one done. The aerial mast is quite fragile so I’m not going to mess with the wire. The body was a little bland so I added some rivet detail and that’s pretty much it.  A lovely little kit that is definitely showing it’s age.  I think the first picture would be most appropriate for the front page.

THat looks good John.  I'm a big fan of the commercial/military version of these birds.  Funny - for just a second I was going to ask who makes this kit Tongue Tied.

Thanks,

John

Here's where the DH-125 is now.  I had to do a lot of thinks on how to do the laser striping, and finally gave up and gave it my best shot with a decal.  It's not quite like the real thing, and I'm thinking maybe the kit has some deviations from scale as when I put the stripes in the right place on the nose they are too low relative to the nacelles.  Onward!   The nacelles are just sitting in place here, and there is bare metal foil left to apply to replicate the weeping wing deicer panels.

I decided to pose Angels' Playmate in flight. The kit landing gear just looks too fragile for the airplane to be a shelf-sitter. I scrounged a stand from another old Airfix Clipper kit for this P-51. Just the right size.

My next build in our group build is a modern Airfix kit. A 1/72 scale P-51D. A year ago I told a friend, after getting beat up by an Academy B-17D kit, I'd likely never build 1/72 again. Yet here I am. This Mustang is #5 in a string of 1/72 scale kits I've built recently. This is a dandy little kit. Very precise! So far no gaps to fill and sand. A world away from the last Airfix kit I built, the old MPC A-26 kit. Anyway, when the kit is finished it will represent Bruce Carr's Angels' Playmate, seen here somewhere in France in 1945.

Hey wow, are you using the tamiya vinyl tape there?  I've used it for some curvey surfaces but never thought to use it for cammo.  Interesting.

Their vinyl tape is perfect for RAF and FAA camo work!

Yea, they make a big improvement. For the rails, just put them where you don't want your crew falling off..........unlike these guys.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.
