Hi, Bish, I'n regards to your question, I really don't know much about Tiger I, I want info on exterior detail (zimerit, tools, hull,chassis, turrent detail). Also painting photos that I can use would be very helpful.

Thanks Tiger. The barrel has some really nice rifling so I used a tiny amount of Rub n Buff to pop the detail.

Great work PJ! The figure looks very good so we can compare the size of the projectile to a man. All of the weathering and chipping really give this kit & vignette an authentic 'you are there' feel, but what I really like are the rifle grooves at the muzzle of this mortar. To me; that is what put it over the top. Nice job.

I'd like to enter an Airfix 1/76 Panzer IV please. It's a kit dating back from 1971, but it's part of a project I'm doing to build the Airfix armor that I did as a kid. I've just started the turret.

Done with this one finally. The VI numerals were painted with black enamel and a 10/0 brush. The decal fractured when dipped in water.

The Ziu decals were coated with decal saver solution to keep them in one piece. They were applied over wet Future followed by several coats of the same product were brushed on to help hide the thick decal edges. After about 6 coats when fully dried, a fine sanding pad was used to go over the decal then the area was wiped clean and another coat of Future was brushed on. Finally flat clear went on to kill the gloss. The final result looks like paint and not a decal.

While the terrain was wet, ground cover was sprinkled and the model was placed on the terrain to sink it into the mix so it looks weighted down and not floating on the base. The terrain was brought up to the running gear to tie things down.

I looked in my spares box for a figure and used this Tamiya dude in a casual pose to show the size comparison to a person. I drilled his hand and made a cancer stick out of stretched sprue.

Hi everyone! Could anyone steer me in the right direction on find info for storage/detail and markings for my tiger I?

 

The only external stowage bins on a Tiger I were the ones on the rear of the turret, or are you reffering to the tools and othe ritems attached to the outside. What info do you need on the markings.

The Leopard II is together except the mirrors which I left off since I know I'll end up breaking them while painting. She's really for priming (hopefully, I'll probably find something I left off).

I started work on the figures, not sure why the uniforms came out that shiney, I used matte paint...

Not that happy about the Meng figure set, you get four figures- two in winter uniforms and two in summer. So you can either use only use two figures for a tank with a crew of three or buy two sets of figures. The molding on the other hand is superb.

Let me check the stash. I'm not sure what scale or subject to do. I might have to assign every kit a number and roll the D and D dice to decide. Leaning toward the 1/48th Skybow Late Tiger.

What are the ground rules? Same as the other group builds? Do we need to start fresh or can work be lightly (less than 25%) started? Just curious. This is only my second group build but have been watching from the sidelines. My first was this year's Weekend Madness.

 

Daddyman, I'm a bit late, but was wondering if you have the updated instructions for this kit? If not, I do, and can send them to you if you need them.

The decals are really bad being thick and glossy. The Roman numeral VI that goes over the breech burst into a million pieces once it was dipped in water. That is easy enough for me to hand paint using a 10/0 brush.

The 'Ziu' name stencil that goes on both sides of the upper part of the gun got coated with decal saver liquid to keep them from fracturing in the water. I applied them on the model using multiple coats of Future brushed out away from the decal center and when dry, fine sanding pads were used to sand and smooth the decal area. This process gets rid of the 'step' left by the thick decal edges. Another coat of Future was brushed over to seal the decals and clear flatcoat will go on later to kill the gloss and even the fish out on the decaled area.

Hey PJ, nice work on those tracks. I wouldn't worry too much on sag with this vehicle. This is coming out very nicely.

Nice work on the tracks, good to see everything come together there. 

I finally finished assembling and painting the tracks. I could not get the desired sag cause the guide horns interfeared with other parts along the drivetrain. The hull sides and road wheels got some dirt color pigments mixed with rubbing alcohol and brushed on. This mix dries within a few minutes and some was brushed off to fine tune the effect.

I also stained the wood base and is ready for some ground work. I think I will drill a small hole in the center of the hull to drive a screw to secure the model to the base. The hull sits VERY low to the ground so the screw will be easily hidden with some foliage or terrain junk.

The plan is to make my mix of Elmers white glue and Durham's Water Putty and throw in some dirt color craft paint. The mix will then be spread over the wood base and the groundcover will be sprinkled and arranged. The hull will get embedded into the mix and secured with the screw. After curing for a few days the tracks can be weathered to match the groundwork. The superstructure will remain off to make the track weathering easier to apply.

Guess I'm lucky. The Dragon kits I've built the instructions didn't leave anything out - though I've stared at some diagrams for awhile to try to figure out what they're showing. 

The intake covers look really good. With paint on them I'd have thought they were kit parts.

 

Thanks. Sometimes parts can be scratched out and will look as good as the pe ones. The thing about the Dragon instructions is hit and miss. I recently completed a Dragon KT and had no issues with the instructions. They are either ok, vague on parts placement or leaving off a part completely then you have to investigate.
