Looks good freem-off to a great start.

109 is primed-going to wait for another hour or two before applying the Vallejo Model Air-I have a piece of primed plastic (same time as 109) to test first.  If all goes well I'll Future it tomorrow morning and hopefully decals early afternoon. 

Got the RLM 76 sprayed on-Not sure if I'm going to try to Future it in a couple of hours or wait until the am

Got rollin last night!

First thing this morning:

Cockpit is just seats and dashboards.  Could have gone wild with the 3 instruments in the back panel, throttle, stick, rudder pedals, etc. but you cant see a lot and I didn't want to take the extra time--had to take the Christmas stuff down today!

Happy with this mornings progress-canopy masked (really need to remember to order Eduard pre-cut next year...), cockpit in place (really wanted to scratch build the fuel line that runs thru the cockpit, but after looking for some wire, I decided to stay out of the box).

Fit of the Hasegawa kit is very good-and it looks like the G-10 kit will make a G-6-all the pieces but the canopy.

Anyway, here's where we are now-

Taking a break for the start of the 24 Hours of Daytona-should be able to get fuselage complete quickly, Tamiya spray can prime and hopefully Vallejo Model Air RLM 76 tonight.

Much against my better judgment, I've decided to try again-1/48 Hasegawa bf109g-10.

Going for the Wilde Sau version-one color, no masking.  Since starting, I have the interior and some other bits painted-but evenings are not my best time after a week of work-will start early am with masking canopy and assembling interior-hope to have it painted and maybe a coat of Future by tomorrow night

In my best George Takei voice Oh My! A SMER kit, now that's a manly man's kit. This should be most entertaining. I had planned to make my second attempt this weekend, but work will be getting in the way. Looks like my next chance will be next weekend.

Feb 2 hard deck!  I like working under pressure!!  Gonna give it a shot this weekend with:

Smer kit No.121 1/50 scale.  Easy, right!?

The build rate is starting to fall off, so get off your duffs and get to building. As always, if you've started something but haven't finished it, keep at it and post pics when it's done.

Mach, nice work on a really different and difficult model. Always like to see something unusual.

Caveman, bummer about the heart attack. I am another survivor - eleven years ago. Got me back into modelling though as the physio said I had to practice fine motor skills - so go and do your therapy!

Well done Mach! An unusal subject matter to say the least. Whenever you get better pics up, let me know which one you want for the front page.

Well, for better or worse, here's mine. I wound up switching to the Special Hobby EMW A9 since I needed a change of pace from jets.

And we're off!

Fuse glued up with pit installed. Pit was beyond minimal, but is largely invisible so there were no heroics to raise the detail level. The kit really started to put up a fight at this stage - the fit was somewhat poor, but given enough time and clamping pressure doing small sections at a time could be forced into a much better looking join that needed minimal cleanup.

I started gluing up the launch pad while I dealt with a mold misalignment on the fins. Even after cleanup the fit of the fins was poor making glue up a time consuming process. At least they look good from the top ...

At this point I paused to sleep.

I spent the morning New Year's Day with family to de-stress a little.

After seven hours of work I had this to show for it - almost done! Pad almost completely assembled and painted, and the rocket is painted, decaled, and ready for clearcoat. For reference all the painting is hand brushing, for no other reason than it's what I'm used to.

Thanks for hosting this GB, lewbud! It was a lot of fun even with the kit fighting me most of the way. I'll try to get some better finished shots up this weekend.

I totally understand. You got one done and had fun, that's all that matters.  I know I've got Saturday-Monday clear for my second and final attempt. Unless things pickup, I may call it done in a couple of weeks.

SD - great work on the PAK 75!  I have the MM Panzer Gray paint, but haven't used it yet.  Looks very nice on your PAK - I may have to give it try soon!

lostagain - I love how your Hetzer came out!  Fantastic camo job....that disc pattern is not easy to pull off, especially in 1/48 scale!  Is that sake in the celebration pic!!

bob - the T-Bolt seems to be coming along nicely!  Might not make the 48 hrs, but I'm still eager to see her complete!

caveman - good to see you back and sorry to hear about your HA.  I totally understand what you're going through, I had one myself 10 yrs ago.  It did sideline me for a few weeks until I felt good enough to get back to the bench, so take your time and keep your health foremost. 

Lewbud - I think that's it for me.  Looking at the calendar I don't think I'll have a straight 48 hrs free until the end of the month.  Too bad....I really wanted to do an AC for my 2nd entry.

Hey guys.  I hope you all had a great holiday and a Happy New Year to all.

I have been watching and enjoying your work but have not been able to participate yet.  Long story short......I had a heart attack.  Knocked me out of commission for a bit.  Worse still has been getting used to the meds. which have left me quite beat up and drained.

I am however ready to give it a try now, so if we are still going, I will start sometime tomorrow.  Charging the batteries for the camera now.  Looking at the finished list I see no civillian wheels yet, so a 1/24 1994 Tamiya Toyota Supra Turbo will be first up.

Thanks Lewbud-the plane is supposed to be a Bomber Formation Monitor from the 467th BG-ran into the problem of some of the key decals disintergrated upon touching water-ended up mixing decals from the two planes on the decal sheet.  Will hit it with dull coat in the am and should have the little bits attached tomorrow.

Bummer that you didn't make the deadline Bob, but keep at it! I don't think I've seen a yellow nosed T-bolt before. That's cool.

Ran out of time-too many outside activities but it's been a good holiday break.

Waiting for Future to cure-applied earlier this am-then decaling, dull coat and attaching the small bits-hope to complete by tomorrow evening.

Made some progress-in between other activities-got interior finished, fuselage buttoned up-fit not as good as it was during dry fitting-tried to fix the worst of them but not going to devote a lot of time-got the neutral gray sprayed & the canopy masked-hope to spray the OD early tomorrow but I doubt I'll make the 48 hr goal...but it's good to get back at the bench...

I have no badge for this year's build. I don't have a personal computer, so I've usually put out a call and asked for help in creating a badge. If you have the talent, please feel free to create one and share it with the rest of the group (I can't remember if I did so this year). The only thing I ask is that you (or whomever does it) try to keep the Calvin and Hobbes theme going. Retreads of past badges is fine with me.

Lewbud, I think that in your excitement\derangement getting this thing of the ground you made the badge so small that it does not show up on the computer. Either that or someone decided that they could keep us all sane by hiding it. Either way it would be nice to have a certificate of our collective insanity to display.
