That looks excelent John
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

John, you really nailed that scheme. It looks amazing with all the mottleing over the tan. Super cool.

A lot !! And I mean A LOT!!
2024 Kits on deck / in process / completed
14 / 5 / 2
Calling this one done - lots of mistakes, pretty detailed little kit for those with patience. Enjoyed trying the camo scheme. Last step was a Flory wash and it goes on the shelf.
Thanks,
John
That looks great John!
Buddy- Those who say there are no stupid questions have never worked in customer service.
Supper job John! I like the looks of the camo.
Oh, man, that came out sweet, John. I love the scheme and your skills made it look fantastic. Well done. Now I want to go build the one I have. I'll update the front page.
Yeah John I love that camo. You've got that technique down.
I got back to the Enterprise this week. All decals are on now. Thinking of doing a satin coat over everything. Anyone cringe at that thought?
Decals are by Acreation Models. Really settle in easily! Microsol only required. You have to cut them out as carrier film is the whole page. The way they behave tho was worth it. Wish all decals were this way. Working on the base now. Should finish up this weakend.
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!

Looks fantastic Chris.
Many thanks BK & MC!
The Star Trek Enterprise is complete! Since you last saw her I misted the ship with a custom white grey blend to tone down the starkness of the decals and to help blend everything together. The stand is finished. If you know your Trek you'll recognize the insignia as Engineering. Montgomery Scott doesn't get enough credit so here's a shout out to him!
Definitely a great Secret Santa gift! My 1st sci-fi. Lots of fun, a few different skills required, I'll never want to go back to the dark side and use standard decals agin ;-) and some fun playing with LED's! Love this GB BK, xciting as always! BK let's use the very 1st pic for the cover photo as it shows off the lighting.

Very impressive work guys!

I am simply stunned by the quality of that build, Chris. My jaw is on the floor. Holy cow my man, you crushed it. Congrats on such an awesome piece of art.

Thanks guys!! getting a gift always makes me want to step up the game. It's even nice when that actually happens
Very, very cool!
The Enterprise raises the bar for the rest of us for sure. Great job, something to be very proud of.
John.. Nice work on the ME. Wouldn't be embarrassed to put something that nice in a prime spot in the display case.
I returned to the Leopard after a long time off, and tried my hand at using weathering pigments. I had a nice subtle middle eastern dust finish, and after sealing it with a matte coat, it is gone. (forgive my ice cream pail lid turntable)
I'm not going to try the weathering again, I am afraid I will just botch it this late in the game. I am also NOT adding the tow cable, while trying to wrestle it into place, the holding hook snapped off. Thank God super glue sticks to everything!
I am going to call this one complete as is! Kit was built OOB, the only addition I made was the aerials made from guitar string. Painted with a Tamiya rattle can, Vallejo acrylics and washes, and (invisible) MIG pigments.
Thanks to Santa for the great kit and to BK for running a great GB. Looking forward to Secret Santa 2021 already!
Looks good Robert. My pastels always seem to turn to mud when I spray them with a clear coat.
Actually, I'm thinking a tank or car for next years GB assuming BK is still willing to do them (my worst subjects) as long as the tank is 1/72
It does look good, Robert. The trick to pastels is not to get them wet. What that means is don't use clears over them, ever. Go to the craft isle of whatever store you have and grab a can of "fixative". It is usually used for artists pencil work and charcoal sketches. Decant some into a jar and lightly mist the model with it and the pastels will hold and not get wet and vanish. Light light light coats only, less is more with pastels and fixative. You'll be much happier with your results.
PS, if you spray right from the can it will act like a clear coat and ruin the effect, decant use only.
Hmph...well, live and learn. Thanks for that tip! I will check Hobby Lobby for that stuff the next time I there.
Well, went to decal the office on the Myrt and they all just shattered.
Going to look for some A/M decals for the outside, but not seeing much. May just go with a set for a Tony or Zeke .
Hopefully getting the fuselage glued up this week yet
Finally got all the glass masked
Nice, GH. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Too bad about the decals, but you will make something work I'm sure.
Got the fuselage glued and sanded. The wing to fuselage is a nightmare...got a lot of cutting to make it fit. Must have screwed up somewhere. Going to have to clamp and glue one side at a time. Will get some pics uploaded on the laptop soon.
Nice job on the Leopard. Easy to overdo weathering on peacetime armor.
John, ya this year has been a mess for all of us and the GB kinda fell with a thud this year. The participation has been lackluster at best. But, given what 2020 has been like I'm not judging anyone. It's about the giving that matters most. We'll get there in the end.
PSA:
Due to the fact that I am stupid busy with my business and will be buying a new home in the spring and moving across the state I will not have the time to host a GB for 2021 at all. I don't even have ANY plans to build or work on any kits. That being said I have decided to hand over the controls to Steve for SS 2020. I will be back for it in 2021.

Yep, you poor guys are going to have to contend with me if you join next year
I'll get a thread up this weekend.
Yes!! I'm in for sure!

God, Family, Models...
At the plate: 1/48 Airfix Bf109 & 1/35 Tamiya Famo
On deck: Who knows!
Sorry for not getting to the kits sooner, just been busy. I've started the panzer IV a couple days ago. Have to post photos.
