With a little persuasion , I was able to get the True Details cockpit in. Lots of ballast for this one, I am sure you all know. I am working on the “pull” handles for the seats so I can get the canopy sorted and squirt some primer on this thing.

Cheers.

Looks like you are doing lots of careful fitting, Stephen.

I haven't found a single resin AM set that simply drops in and you are done with it. Most require lots of surgery to get them to fit.

Your work is looking great Stephen.

Looking good, PJ.

Thanks John. The 105 has taken a backseat here since the Mig is a comission and want to complete it first and send it to its buyer.

I was reading that the NVAF did not have many Mig 21s and they were mostly used as a hit and run weapon on heavy bomb loaded F-105 flights. Robin Olds developed a surprise attack tactic on the NVAF by making them believe a slower bomb loaded flight of Thuds was coming their way using the same altitude and direction the Thuds usually follwed. The NVAF sent a bunch of 21s to hit and run on what they thought to be the slower F-105s only to confront a large number of missile armed Phantoms waiting in ambush, SURPRISE!!! This was called Operation Bolo where the NVAF lost several Mig 21s during this encounter forcing them to cut back on the Mig 21's use for a while.

I figure that they were kept relatively clean so I will not go overboard with the weathering, just enough to show some use and not abuse.

I decided to use some Hawkeyes aluminum powder on some panels for an added metallic effect. This powder can be applied with a Q Tip and buffed out to a brilliant shine. I have no clue why this product was discontinued because it is fantastic.

I forgot where I read that MM Metalizer Sealer barely affects the metallic bling so I sprayed the plane with it to seal things up so that the upcoming Flory washes will not affect the powder. I would say that the Metalizer Sealer barely altered the tone so I was happy how it performed.

I started applying the decals and have the larger ones on. There are a bunch of tiny stencils to be applied but it's getting late. Sleep

This is how it looks so far

Calling decaling done. Washed, dried,  Mr.Color semi gloss applied. Stabs painted .  A few gear doors and wheel centers painted.  Don't think there will be any more updates until she is complete.  I am so excited, I finally get to remove the canopy masks!

Thanks CB. Your Hun looks great and the metal heat stains look the part. Beer

I too will post again once the Mig is done needing only the two missiles and the gear legs to be attached.

I love the tri-tone camo, it looks steller. I'm looking forward to seeing this one complete.

That looks great TJ. The fade lines look very good. Hey did you use AK Real Colors? And if so  how did it spray out?

Yes it was the real colors line. I like it. Sprays nice. I've got a few colors of the AK. Mostly Luftwaffe. I like the color selection

Hey thanks TJ. Read somewhere it sprays like Tamiya paint. I think law dog uses them too.

Thanks TJ and Brandon! Hopefully it will be done by end of month or 1st week in March. Bench time is at a premium lately and sad eyed little boys are begging me to work on their ceiling hangars!

The Mig 21 is done. Please use the last picture for the completed build section.

Now back to work on the Thud.

Beautiful work on the MIG-21. And again, that cockpit is just killer. The model does a good job of portraying how small these aircraft actually were. No wonder the F-4s had a hard time turning and burning with them. Can't wait to see the finished Lead Sled.

Thanks. I read it acted as a wind blocker at ejection. It does look weird.
