Ok, Here is where the Hun stands. Canopy on -- just sealed the windscreen gaps with apoxie sculpt.  Bare metal areas of rear fuselage have alclad II and have been experimenting with Tamiya burnt metal weathering pastels/powders. After apoxie sets up will sand and then start painting the exterior.

Finally I'm making another post. The MiGs are coming along. I've been distracted with other projects and haven't paid too much attention to them. They're just about ready for primer though. I have a canopy mask on order for the MiG 17 and I have one on hand for the MiG 15, so as soon as the masks are on it's primer time. The radio masts and horizontals stabilizers will go on after paint so I don't break them of and lose them to the Carpet Monster.

 .

The MiG 15 may become a North Korean MiG while the MiG 17 remains a NVAF MiG. Maybe.

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

There is some serious progress being made here!  Unlike at my house where very little is made....

Don't know how I missed this??? DRUMS01, That is one seriously beautiful C-130. Your paint job is fabulous! Nice work!

John,

Please count me in on this GB. I will let you know what I am going to build shortly.

I do already have a Viet Nam era C130 gunship that I've already completed which I would like to share...

I've got the decals done on the AC, still need to do the ordinance. I touch of weathering, final assembly and I should be nearly done.

It's a race but it looks like the F-14 might be finished before the Hun.  Both show nice work, the metal on the Hun especially.  An all nighter by either of you could turn the tables!

Some more progress to report.

Landing gear painted and installed and more decals applied.

All I have left is some detail painting, a couple gear bay doors, the rest of the decals, and some ordnance. The finish line is in sight, if a couple sessions away yet.

I also have to verify Milspec's omission of the national insignia on the wings in their decal placement guide. I have this sneaking suspicion it's an error, otherwise their decals are fantastic.

Looks good, Sir. I feel you pain about the decal callouts. My instructions completely omitted the decals for the ordinance, that was fun. Then the kit call for about 3 times as many "no step" locations than the sheet provided. So lame. I had to make tough choices about where to not place many of theml. You F-14 is looking very nice.

Brandon that looks awesome! I built one a while back and it is a fun kit. Yours came out really nice!

I'm calling this one done. Made some mistakes along the way, but it wasn't too bad to build. I think I'll give the Tamiya kit a go next time. This one doesn't offer any real nice deal to pose it with. It looks like a nice F-14A when done, and that works.

Thanks for watching and Jeaton, thanks for the fun GB.

Thanks for supporting the GB by building a great model, Brandon.  That's really what makes a group build great!  Which picture would you prefer for the trophy wall?  i think the first one would be prety good.

Great job BK, that Tomcat looks sweet. You will love the Tamiya cat. I’ve done a couple of them and the fit and detail quality is fantastic.

Brandon, your Tomcat looks really good. I'm really glad to see it, I think I might have to do one myself. My 1/32 F-105 still hasn't arrived, which is OK, but I may get distracted onto something else before it gets here :) Cheers Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Super work everyone!  I really like your Tomcat BK!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much, there have been a lot of personal issues keeping me away from the bench, the forum, and pretty much anything not work related.  But, I managed to put something together that looks like an airplane.

Finished the camo scheme, now just have to attach the various gear doors, landing gear, arrestor hook, and various other appendages:

John, At the risk of earning a grease bucket award, I find I must withdraw from this GB at this time. I had really looked forward to participating, since I have many 1/48 and 1/72 kits to be done in the Vietnam era. However, in late October I was hit with a triple whammy of health issues all at once that have been more tenacious than I thought they would be. Sciatica and shingles hit almost together resulting in weeks of meds that left me mostly in bed, resulted in 35 pounds of weight loss, and a drop foot. On top of that, it is time to re-treat my lymphoma. Not looking for sympathy, just explaining why it's been difficult to get to the modeling bench and get something started. I have been following and enjoying the builds that are coming in. Your C-123 was great as is Brandon's F-14. Superb modeling. Keep it up guys!!

Yeah, I think we can find a better "volunteer" for the grease trap.  Very sorry to hear about all the trouble you are having.  Keep looking in, and my best wishes and sympathies to you.

Jmoran426, I'm sorry to hear of your health trouble.  I hope you get well soon.

Loving the tomcat!

As for my flying tractor....  I actually have it painted and the rigging done, once dry, I get to construct the rickety and poorly designed undercarriage.  I will try and get some pictures up soon.

I have got the F-4J in primer too.  I don't want to clean the grease trap...
