That looks good! And I'd agree fifteen bucks for the turned metal barrel is worth it.

Put in some good progress on the cannon over the weekend and did an initial base coat of OD:

Obviously needs a couple more coats of the Vallejo primer, but I'm still debating on picking up a rattle can of OD green rather than continuing with the brushwork.

The barrel itself is from Tamiya's aluminum upgrade set.  It's a little disapointing that it wasn't included to begin with, but the $15 cost is preferable to dealing with the 7 inch seams!

I give the AFV Club kit props for including a metal barrel in their 16 year old base kit, even if it was a more basic interation than this Tamiya version.

Thanks guys!  Those pilots are TINY! painting those is like Bob Ross would say "One hair and some air" ...

So, I guess, I have officially started my contribution to this group build.  This weekend, I was able to get the 1/72 pilots painted for my F-86 and MiG15.  One American aviator, and one Soviet:

Congrats on the progress, Glamdring! Good quote there, too, by the way! :)

I had a good weekend of building, this kit is pretty much falling together so far.  My favorite aspect of the kit is actually the instructions...Tamiya clearly labels the subassembly I am installing on the vehicle.  Very interesting stuff!

Here is the chassis so far:

I also finished assembly of the dozer blade:

Most subassemblies have been left off to aid in painting later.  Given that I normally paint with a rattle can, a forthcoming challenge will be ensuring the OD green covers all  the corners, nooks and crannies.  I may just brush paint it in the end.

Anyway, that's for another day. Time to move  on to the best part, the Big Gun!  (no pictures on that yet though)

SP, good job so far.

A reminder, pls no swearing. Part of the rules. Thx.

I think that we shall be parting ways here then. The FSM Nannybot did not censor my words, and in my book, the word that I used is not “foul language” as you listed on your rules. Im sorry that you disapprove of my occasional language, but I will not change my ways. Thanks for hosting. Good luck to you.

Just bought a 'Korean War T-33' kit by Hobby Craft! 1/48 scale.

Looks like a fun group build!

Gamera

Arrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!! Track links! Well, at least when you're done there the worst part of the build will be over.

You have got that right!

Gamera

And your GB was fantastic, lots of fun. I think it was the last one I got two subjects completed and made a lot of progress on the third.

Yes, lots of folks did some super builds, or several. I finished at least two that I remember...

Gamera

Way too many people have vanished since then. I wonder what happened to The Draken who was teaching English in Korea. I remember him being honked off about students who kept stealing the models he was teaching about the war with. I've got his website bookmarked on my PC at home, haven't checked it in years though so it might not be there now.

Yeah that’s too bad... a lot left in the forum crackdowns... good people.. every now and then you wonder what they’re up to.

Just when I start to find interest in armor models you show up with the sprue of track links! Back to aircraft I go! That looks like a lot of effort. Nice work so far.

John, its up to you on which badges you offer. I’m fine with what’s up there. I’m just happy to build for a GB and finish up the project before the end date.

Gamera, my Korean War GB was indeed 10 years ago, running from 2010 to 2013.

Robert: Cool!!! I've had the AFV Club M40 on and off my bench for the better part of forever. I'm really interested in how the Tamiya one goes!

SP: And love that! I started that same kit back in your Korea GB, gee what was it over ten years ago? Had a couple of sheets of PE included when I ordered it from Ebay, tried to use them, got frustrated and put it aside.
