Military trainer aircraft Group build 2020

Nice work there mach. I have had a few Eduard sets like that, often older ones or some of the larger sets, like the B-24, has some parts like that especially on curved surfaces. I am not a big fan of liquid mask, but i find when combined with those paper ones they work ok. because you overlap the paper with the liquid, the latter comes away really easy and no need to run a blade around the edge.

Looking good John.  I'd like to add this kit to my stash. 

I'm making progress on the PT-19.  I painted it using Hataka Aggressor Blue C156 and Gunze Mr Color 329 Yellow.  I tried using the six resin rods supplied to build the overturn structure but I swear they were made from mexican jumping beans.  No way. I bent up some very small music wire and just used the resin top piece.  I still have to do a little Epoxysculpt work on the base of the wires to make them look like they extend through the metal fairing.

I'd like to join! My dad flew the Stearman N2S as a trainer at Ottumwa NAS during the winter of 1944-45. 

After doing some research I've found some pics of the base during that time. 

I've got decals for it also---

Been a while since my first update. My S-boat has been taking most of my time but finally have some progress to report.

Assembly was finished and everything masked off ready for painting.

Then painting. This was a tricky one, the only photo of this aircraft i have is not clear. I found 4 different paint schemes from various kits or delas. Hasegawa says a mottling of RLM 81/82 all over. The Hobby Boss 48th kit has a splinter camo and one set of decals i found also has a splinter but in different colours. While the Cutting Edge decal sheet says one all over colour either RLM 81 or 83. The photo i have does not show any demarcation between colours, so i went for a single colour opting for the Dark Green 83. Uncdersicdes are RLM 76, no confusion there.

I was really pleased with how the mottling came out.

And then the kit decals.

Minor progress.

The canopy's are painted.

And I umasked the cockpit.

I'm masking the T-38 canopys. The kit does not come with any so I bought the Eduard set. It only has the edges for the mask. Odd. I've used Eduard masks before and they had the whole canopy. 

Not a big deal, just an extra step. They recomend using a liquid mask for the center area.

I've had mixed results with that, so I went with Tamiya tape.

Looking good! The kit looks to be of a nice quality! I don't see many pinholes! Every resin kit I build is full of pinholes, so thats great!

I spent the day decaling and painting. Getting close on some things.

I still have to seal the decals and weather the ground equipment.

I did find a partial set of T-37 decals on line today. I hope to get them by the end of the week, then I can finish up the Tweety bird.

Here's an update on the PT-19.  The cockpit interior was added to with some ALPS printed decal faces courtesy of my computer system and its peripherals, and a store of images I keep adding to from the interweb.  This, like many resin models has fewer parts that injection molded kits and more details are in the castings.  The parts took some heavy duty cleaning and two coats of primer before they were good about holding paint.  I had to do some reshaping on the horizontal stabilizers so they would fit with a straight elevator hinge line.  I think they mostly ended up parallel to the wing centerline.  Otherwise the parts fit a bit better than the average of the resin kits I've built, and the casting quality and surface detail is good.

The wing handholds were added to by a music wire replacement for the missing tip bow and were carved a little larger, they will be faired in with Epoxysculpt.

Progress is being made.

The T-37 is basically done. When I was decaling some of them shattered. I ordered some replacements online, but it will probably be next week before they come.

The ground carts were gloss coated and then decaled. I'll wait until tomorrow and see if they need any more Micro set. Then I'll dull coat them and give them some weathering.

I should be able to bet moving on the T-38 again soon. I think the paint is good.

John, Any luck getting paint on the hawk?

I made a bit of progress on the ground equipment.

the hawk has  gone together pretty well, there were some large gaps where the leading edge met the intake on the bottom side that have been a pain to fill.  the direction are a little lax in telling you what color the gear wells are supposed to be.

Also all the trailing edges were way too thick so I had to file those down.  Maybe paint tonight!

That Hawk is looking good! How is it going together?

I got the 1st coat of gloss white on the T-37 and the T-38 today along with a coat of primer and then OD on the ground equipment.

I only have photos of the tweet.

I have some cleanup to do on the windscreen.

Cockpit for the hawk is ready to be assembled. cockpit assembled and fuselage is together. the plane is ready for primer.

Canopy masking time!

Having to mask a canopy by hand really makes me appreciate a nice pre cut mask!

I've been working the seams on the under wing of the T-38. Not much is really working well. I tried Aves putty and thined white putty. I might have to live with them.

I've also been working on a small T-37 I found in my stash. It's a 1/72 Hasegawa kit that is missing the instructions.

I'm thinking about a possable diorama with both aircraft.

It's coming together nicely, Mach 71.  Those underwing seams might be a candidate for epoxy putty like Milliput and a wet finger.

First build post from me of the Me 262.

I am adding an Eduard PE set which is designed for the Revell kit but seems to be fitting this well. The pit wnet together quickly, i used the kit decals for the side instruments as tehre was no PE for those bits. The kit seats have been completly replaced with PE.

The pit was then fitted and the fuselage put together.

And the wings were added.

I am building this alongside another aircraft and my S-100 boat so it won't go together as quick as it could, but i hope to have another update soon.
