This website has a lot of information about D-Day AFVs. I found in very interesting. It should be pretty usefull for this Group Build.

Hey wrbridge: Do you have a book of what vehicals were where on what dates? If so, would you be able to see if there was any tiger 2's in any panzer division around normandy during or close to D-day? That would help a lot. Thanks

I will probably be doing Italerie's C-47 and Glider in 1/72.
then maybe Lindenburgs Landingcraft.
Then, if i Have some time, a willys, or 2 1/2 ton cargo truck.

1./SS.Pz.Jäg.Abt. 2 of the 2nd SS Panzer Division, 'Das Reich', is listed as having 10 Marder IIIs on it's order of battle during action in Normandy. I don't know when or if 1./SS.Pz.Jäg.Abt. 2 went into action, but I'm sure it did at some point (whether it was in the GB timeframe I don't know).

Yup, Panthers and Stugs were in action within a day or so of the landings. You could also look at PzIVs and PzIIIs, although I'm not sure off the top of my head with which units.

jump on in on this GB, frosty. I love seeing your works in 72. your ersatz panther and your m32 are both amazing!!

Chris:
ur welcome !
if u flip the part, u may want 2 move the towing eyes a bit lower on the tranny cover...
(but that's an easier fix IMO)
got 2 have a good supply of styrene sheet, strip, rod & tube...
AM parts r just 2 expensive in general !

I think it'll be DML's tiger 2. Cant make a very convincing muzzle break in 1/70.

ArmorMaster:
scratchbuilding a tiger in 1/70 ?
maybe u should consider the Revell Tiger in 1/72 instead, i hear it's a very nice kit .
it would certainly save u a lot of time & energy ! Tongue [:P]Wink [;)]Smile [:)]
but i like scratchbuilding myself, so i can understand the "can it b done?" factor.
good luck w/ ur project, whatever u choose !

u'll love it !
just watch out 4 part # 19, the transmission cover .
it won't fit rite if u install it the way the instructions say...
but it fits perfectly if u turn it upside down.
go figure...
r u going 2 do a wading trunk shermie ?
(that was my other choice 4 the Sherman GB, but i went with the m32 instead)
this looks like it's going 2 b a fun build !

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] what he said !
LOL !
ok, even tho' i was thinking about not signing on 4 any more group builds rite now...
this one is just 2 good 2 pass up !
i'll b thinking about a project that will fit the bill, but with the wealth of possibilities,
i'm sure i'll come up w/ something !

Ok, no flampanzers.
Now I'm not quite sure what to build. June 6th is still a way off, so I'll find something till then, either in the kits I have, or I'll just get something for this build.
I'm kind of tired of the standard tank stuff. In the mood for something a little different.

From what I can tell there weren't any Flamepanzers in Normandy. By this Time in the war they were using the PZ III as the Flame tank (I think) and if this is the case only 2 units according to the ref. Materials I have had Panzer III's of any kind and that was the 11th Panzer and the 116th Panzer. Only the 116th Panzer saw action in the Normandy area. The 11th was way south. Again if anyone has better info or knows what I have entered is incorrect please tell me.

I've looked through a couple of sources I've got on hand and I can't find any mention of flammpanzer's being used in Normandy. It looks like a few were deployed to Russian and Italy, but nothing that I can see in France. Maybe someone else around here has some more information.

Ok, if this build ends up getting through, I don't think I'll be building a Stug, but something else. I didn't end up getting the kit that I thought I would. Maybe a flampanzer. Anyone know if any were involved?

That's a fine badge design, M1. Looks good for the GB. I think I'll shelve my design for later GB's.
