Secret Santa 2020/2021 GB

Looks like Santa hit some home runs! I cant wait to see everyones kits get built. I am still waiting on mine, but my SS did inform me of what it is since it is arriving late, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it! 

Holy cow, Chad!! The wrapping paper hasn't even hit the floor yet. You're nearly done. I love those. Slow down so I can enjoy it a bit longer.

Don't leave everyone hanging BB, what is it?

I got quite a bit done to the LCS these last few days. The kit has an enormus amount of tiny parts, they look like cameras and speakers. Whatever they are, they take quite about of time to install.

Well done on the Freedom so far...I ended up skipping the cameras on my build.  I couldn't get the PE mounting brackets folded!

Don't forget about last year's SSGB. There are still a few builds to be completed. With all the mess of 2020 I am extending the completion date for that GB to "whenever" you get it done.

Got all the paint coming.  A Vallejo set for MIG 21, and all the colors needed in Mr Color.  Both brands have the interior tourquise, but the instructions only give a three color formula for the Mr Color.  Have to see which matches the PE the closest.  One of the three was out of stock.

Probably be 10 days or so before all of it gets here.

I finally receieved my second SS gift. After a tour of the United States where it spent Christmas in Denver and New Years in Cleveland, it finally arrived in Boise this morning and was delivered this afternoon.

I have been wanting a Texas for some time but was always turned off by the 1945 MS 21 Dark Blue scheme. Well along with the kit I also received a book on the Texas which shows some other cool schemes she wore including this awesome 1942 MS 12 Mod scheme.

Now, I have never built a resin kit before so this is going to be an adventure. I love pushing the envelope of my abilities and have been wanting to get a resin kit for some time.

Man...I think Santa rocked it for everyone this year!!!!  What awesome kits!

My apologies for a bit of a late start.  I had injured my hand at work just before Christmas and have been nursing it since.  But....It's in a splint and I'm ready to rock.  As you can see from the pics I bounce around the instructions and do sub-assemblies.  This kit is awesome!  The fit is really good, the few instrument panel decals I've used went on very well, and I am just enjoying the h*** out of building this kit!  Haven't had one issue with it and I am actually pacing myself so it won't be over so soon!  LOL!  I bought some J.A. Grey Green and will do the scheme in the recon grey green.  The detail in the cockpit is great! So here is what I've got done so far.  Enjoy!

Thank you!  The cockpit has been really fun!  It's hard to see, but there is a camera pointing down through the cocket floor for recon!  A really great kit!

I hear ya about the canopy.  That's a lot of glass!   LOL!  I bought the canopy mask for it.  I'm finding I'm buying a lot of canopy masks and decals lately.  LOL!

LOL!  I bought the mask set for it.  I'm finding I'm buying a lot of mask sets lately.  Just a whole lot easier for me.  I usually end up leaving hobby knife marks all over the canopy when I do it myself.

Thank you sir!  It is a great kit.  The first Finemolds I've built and I'm liking them.  The detail is really good!

Well, she's finished!!!!!  What a great kit!  Thank you so much SS!!!!!  You rock!  A perfect gift!  My first Finemolds kit, first Japanese kit...What a wonderful GB!!! 

This was a fun kit to build and the fit was awesome!  The decals went on beautifully, and the detail is great!  Once I painted and sealed that, I gave the whole plane a coat of Flory Models weathering wash Dark Dirt (I love that stuff!).  When I wiped it down, it didn't really need any more weathering!  It looked great!  I added some Tamiya panel line wash for oily looks around the engine and extra fuel tank.  There are so many details in the cockpit you can't see, but that area is beautiful and full of detail!  Here are the pics from the final product.  Again, thanks everyone for the kind words and keep up the great work!  I'll be watching!  LOL!

That is SICK Eagle90!! What a great experience. All that glass really came out well. The overall color is pretty sweet to. Gonna look nice on the front page. 1st one done aren't you?
