Oh yeah, new airbrush!! Unfortunately now I'm doing the mundane stuff. 5 innings of Pirates baseball and this is all i have to show for it! God this is boring. 3 different colors of red/orange plus some black on the artist's pallet to get some variation...

probably another couple evenings to finish up all the brick.

Chris there is definitely something extra fun about popping open a new airbrush and running some paint through it!

Mongoose - the tank looks great!

Castelnuovo - That 262 is fantastic!  I really like that scheme.

Excellent work. That is a very nice build. Everything looks simply spot on, well done.

I read an article about shaking hands and modeling and the guy that wrote it used two weighted bags to assist. He rested his hand on one and covered that same hand/wrist with the other. It reduced his tremors so much he was able to produce incredible work. I will have troubles sometimes as well and I will rest my right wrist on my left wrist and then move the left wrist up and down and fine tune with the right hand. I find this to be quite a stable way to paint and assemble those tiny parts. Hope you can find some help with this as modeling with tremors is not fun.

BK

I do rest my hands on a table or on the other hands or sometimes I have my hands in my lap and that helps a lot. I tried to create some finger weights with a help from an occupational therapist from work. While it helped somewhat it was very akward.

Whatever you can find that works, just don't give up on trying or the hobby. There is always a way.

Dear Secret Santa,

Thanks a million for this gift. It was an absolute pleasure to build it. It went together perfectly. Believe or not, the most challenging part for me was putting on those machinegun lids. With two shaking hands and nothing to support them in instaling them it was harder then people would think. But they turned out well. Thanks again, see you in the next Secret Santa GB.

Some more progress here

You may have had some fit issues, but they don't show in the pics. Well done so far, it is definitely a 262. Looks very nice.

TheMongoose

I'm finally finished with my deck repair project. Which means I was able to spend some time n the paint booth! Today's goal was to paint the camo and start the tracks.

I think the camo will look good under some weathering. I decided to try free handing the green. If it had sprayed like the yellow it would have been a no-go. For some reason the yellow wanted to spritz out of the airbrush instead of spray lol. The green thinned down nice though. I can still see some dots from stopping and starting tho. Those are the ones that will probably blend in when it's weathered. Fingers crossed. Any other ideas toss them my way.

next up was the tracks. Washed in soap and water a few days ago. Primered in black. Mottled on some earthen brown, panzer dark rust, and a light rust. Oversprayed with steel and then some more earth.

id like to say they look better in person...but I'd be lying! I think when i sprayed the steel (from about 12" away) it still just covered too much. I'm going to have to go check out some of BK's tracks in other threads i think. Maybe just some pigments and some brush painting? Other ideas?

This is looking really good. I love the camo, very nice.

As far as your tracks go, they look great at this point for your base. Now, get a rust wash and cover them with it and let it dry. Then mottle it is places, randomly, with earth tones to break up the rust some, don't over do this part. Then dry brush on steel or silver on the outer edges of the tracks and the areas they would scrape the hard ground, again, don't over do this. Then with all that dry get some pigments and mug them up some inside and between the treads and use the same pigments on the road wheels as well. Then they will be done. You can use a hair dryer to speed things up and move faster if you wish. Good luck, its all a matter of layers.

Chris, there's a ton of stuff on YouTube for tracks.

Look at Andy's hobby headquarters, Night Shift, Plasmo, Doogs Models and others.

Sorry guys, I haven't been getting notifications of updates.

Mongoose, I'd like to do an armot dio but not sure I have the skill. Looking cool.

Castel, Wing fitting issues or not, it's looking good.

Here we are so far. The fuselage and everything in it went together perfectly. The wings however put up a major fight. Trim here, trim there, trim some more and the darn thing wouldn't fit. So trim and trim some more and in it went. Not perfectly but well enough.

lol don't worry about me BK I wouldn't ask if I didn't want to hear some opinions Stick out tongue Hell I would have rationalized why they were all looking in random directions if I'd gotten to paint. Now i can break those heds loose and get them looking at the officer. Before i had a different scene but goldhammer's thought about setting up the building so i had room for rubble from the window appealed to me more. Setting up abunch of people is all new so you guys throw out any ideas you have. I won't be finalizing anything for a few days. Need to let the paint dry on the tank and then do the camo pattern. I had the right colors in vallejo model color so extra drying time for these. Also picked up a circle template today so i could do the road wheels and that really kicked off the painting mode!

TheMongoose

Hey guys let me know your thoughts on these two layouts...

i think i like the 3rd one a little more.  Seems more balanced.  The 2nd one is next up. Let me know what you think.

The third one looks funny due to the dude sitting on the fender all funny like. The second one works better and I would consider turning the standing officer around as if he were addressing his crew. Gives the scene some movement or interaction rather than static figures looking off into the distance at nothing in different directions. But, remember, this is your build, do what YOU want to do.
