Got the decals on the belly tank and the spinner spiral that I took from my spare decal box. Trumpeter doesn’t include the spiral in the kit decals.

Got the bigger decals on. There are still several stencils to be applied.

I carefully sliced off off all the carrier film from the numbers and wing crosses

to avoid slivering.

Gamera

Great work guys!!! And I hope your hand is better soon Bobby.

Went back and resprayed the leading edge stripes on my 109. I'd just assumed they were the normal yellow. Looked at the reference material and they're red. Weird, never seen red before but in any case I sprayed them yesterday and red it is.

The standard Japanese ID color at the time was yellow. This IPMS review mentions this very same issue. https://web.ipmsusa3.org/content/bf-109e-7-fw-190a-5-japanese-army-service

I'm really confused here. What I gathered is the planes from factory had the red leading edges. Then later they were repainted to the standard yellow.

I think... Dunce

John, you have far more talent for masking canopies than I do then, cause it never turns out that good when I do it :)

Update on my Komet & Schlepper.

I finished the Scheuch-Schlepper today. Did a bit of weathering on it. Added rails and headlights and some hydraulic lines to the trailer. I also added a shifter and handbrake. I made the headlights by cutting little pieces of the stick of a plastic stick q-tip. Filled them with clear canopy glue and painted the outside black. I also painted the inside silver to try and get a bit of a spotlight affect.

The Komet itself is about 80% now. Just have to do a bit more paint and then decals and detailing.

LOL! And i have since removed that piece of lint from the right side rails. didnt see that with the naked eye. :)

I gotta ask what you are using to mask your canopies, and what method? Are you applying tape then cutting it or precutting it or are you using precut masks? That is one fabulous looking masking job on that canopy.

Deeve,

Just using yellow frog tape (fine edge painting tape) from Home Depot, it looks and feels just like the Tamiya yellow tape  a new #11 blade and a bright light to see the frame outline.

Bobby, sorry to hear about your hand and hope you are doing well.

That’s  a great kit from Dragon. I have that one in the stash along with the 2 seater Komet trainer and the Salamander. The red scheme is different indeed. Great job.

WOW!!!!  I'm finally getting a chance to post pics and get caught up in this GB and...WOW!  Amazing builds!  Inspiring to say the least!!!!!  Super awesome builds everyone!

I apologize for the delay.  I have been swamped at work, therapy with my hand is taking up some time and the kids have kept me busy lately (I have one graduating High School this year!)  But, I have been taking pics as I go along.  I'll post what I have so far.

Over all it's been a fun little kit.  But...if I'm honest, the DML kit I'm doing isn't impressive to me.  Fit is odd in some spots and takes some time to fix.  It is my first build with a bit of PE, so the learning curve on that is slowing me down too.  LOL!  I'm more excited about the scheme I'm doing.  Spate's "Red Baron" painted Me163!!!  Bish gave me the idea for it and I loved the idea!  Got decals for it and just did a bit of painting today.  I think it will look great on the shelf in its bright red suit.  LOL!  So, here they are, the pics I have so far.  Enjoy!

Shot the fuselage colors, all free hand with the Badger Sotar  AB set at 8psi and the Model Master RLM colors diluted paint/thinner 40/60. Love how this AB performs. I applied the fuselage crosses prior to painting cause the RLM 83 covers the insides of the crosses.

I agree, there are some nice late war schemes. I rather like the late 109G-10 nigtfighters of NJG 11, some of which have some nice schemes rather than just overall blue. I might try and get my other G-10 and the k-4 built up next year.

Bish, I like the German late war schemes and their unique look. The colors on the fuselage are a tad complex since the green fills the centers of the fuselage crosses requiring additional masking but will look super cool when completed.

I have heard of the saw tooth and saw a debate on it once, but they talked about the demarcation between the 2 top camo colours. I really like that effect you have, and i have just checked the instructions for my 72nd K and that has it. Now that will be fun.

Bish

thats a great effect on the wing PJ, not seen that on a German aircraft before.

It's the late war scallop pattern also called sawtooth pattern on some of the 109K and the later Gustavs.

That looks nice falcon.

Started on the paint so I did the wings and the scalloped effect with the help of a paper mask to get a consistent pattern.

Mustang. That looks phenomenal.

Ive done some more work on the Komet. I also started the Scheuch Schlepper.

I cut off some of the molded on detail and replaced it with small guage wire. The footrests and backrests and guard rails. I plan to do the same thing with the trailer. There is some detail that wasnt on the kit that I can see in the few pictures I have found.

Small details like these bump up the build quality and adds fun to the project. Yes
