That Sotar 20/20 is one fine airbrush. I've had mine for almost two years now. Used it today to do the camouflage on my Spitfire. It does a really good job. Just remember to keep it clean after each use. I generally shoot it at 10-12 psi with the paint thinned at least 1/1 or 2/1, sometimes more.

 

I got mine earlier this year during the Special Badger Anniversary sale. I used it to freehand the camo on my 1/35 M10 and did one heck of a fine job with the  feathering between colors.

IP looks good Joe, look forward to see what you do to the back.

All: Today's instrument panel mock up. There's gonna be some more detailing to this in the way of painting up and detailing the back of the IP gauges/ wiring.

So I was looking at the ammo shell ejection ports and there is nothing there except two open cavities. I fashioned a jig out of wood coffee stirrers to get the correct dimensions to fabricate the chutes leading to the ejection ports made from wine foil.

I wrapped the wood jig with wine foil and then cut them to size and painted them flat steel.

They were slipped into position and super glued in place.

Once in place the chutes fill in the empty space that was there before.

Deeve_: I can see your photo just fine and nice work! As Bish said you might look and see if there's a 'crop' feature to eliminate some of the excess background.

FSM adjusts pics to a certain size, it might have gone sidways bacsue of that, i tend to edit mine to remove as much from around the part as possable. When you click on yours, its the right way up.

OK, Gonna try and link a picture here. Finished the cockpit and made some seatbelts from masking tape. Keep in mind Cockpits are not my strong suit. I generally dont go crazy on them and I build OOB for the most part.

PJ: Great work there- the seams on the wing roots came out perfect. 

TJ: Great progress there too, masking that canopy was probably the worst part of the kit I'd think. 

Deeve: I use ImageShack, there's lots of other alternatives out there too for hosting photos. Most aren't that expensive and are pretty easy to use.

Got the wings attached but ended up with nasty gaps filled with stretched spruce and Plast I Weld.

Then taped up the gap edges and applied PPP and a few minutes later used a damp QTip to wipe the area smooth

Then removed the tape  and ran the damp QTip again to clean up things

And as to loosing stuff until you buy a replacement- been there, done that, got the T-shirt I've done it sooooo often... 

I got the yellow leading edges sprayed on my 109 this weekend and hopefully will get her masked and the lower surfaces sprayed. Photos when I have something worth posting!

Yep, done that. Bought or scratched a replacment for a lost part then found the original.

John, great job on the canopy. After watching your build I have been tempted to pick up the Italeri 410 but I promisided my wife I wouldn't buy any more kits until I have completed some in my stash...oh well.

PJ are you going to dispay yours with the cowling covers off? It would be a shame to cover up all of that work.

Mustang that is impressive detail work you have done on the cockpit.

After a flippin' WEEK this is what I've got. Seat belts, rudder pivot and pedals all installed. The belts were Eduard color parts that I took the liberty of weathering up a bit as well as weathering the whole cockpit area. This whole instrument panel ordeal that's coming up is gonna be a pretty big task. I have the Eduard color IP but it aint gonna work with the Aires IP. No cheating for me on this go round with that as it's gonna be down to the nitty gritty with the detail painting. 

 Ya know fellas....the one thing that I absolutely cannot stand is when I buy something and then go and LOOSE it. I bought the decals for "White 3" and now can't for the life of me find them anywhere. I already know what's gonna happen too.....I'm gonna buy a set and then the day after I apply them ....I'm going to find the original set. Happens every single time.
