The Seamaster is looking sharp. The dark upper made it appear smaller, but when you unmask that beast it will look amazing.

I pulled off the masking and everything looks okay , so I gave the seamaster several coats of gloss clear .

I didn't quite get the scollop effect with the gloss sea blue along the lower fuselage in some parts but it still looks okay .

Ill' start the decales tomorrow evening , there's not a lot of marking and it shouldn't take more than two evenings .

Aiming to have her finished mid week .

Wow that looks great.  You sure make it look like an elegant bird.  I want to see it on that awesome dolly.

Thanks,

It's amazing the transformation a kit makes when it first gets painted. Looks super.

I'm calling the Seamaster done .

Overall I'm reasonably happy , if I had been a bit more patient with the masking before spraying the gloss sea blue , I would have avoided some minor issue's where the two colors meet .

Great job on a kit I've never seen built.  Very nice finish and I like the contrast and detail of the dolly.  Well done!

Thanks,

Well done, John!!! That is some really fine craftsmanship you have put on display. You really knocked that one out of the park and quickly too. Which pic would you like on the front page?

I have not built in two years. This GB is making me want to set up my bench as I have a few good options in the stash and love planes that float! I might be in here soon fellas.

I made some progress that last few days. In Photo #1 and #5 you can see the new photo-etched seat belts and shoulder harness I added. After I stripped off the paint mentioned in my last post, I removed the molded seat belts with a file and sanded the seat cushion smooth. Then repainted the cushions with Vallejo #71.043 US Olive Drab and the rest of the interior with Vallejo #71.137 US Light Green to represent Chromate Green used in many US manufactured aircraft during World War II.

In the waist gunners' compartment, I added brass color to the 50 caliber magazines shown in Photo #3 made with a mix of Vallejo #77.710 Copper Metal Color paint and #77.725 Gold. I found that Vallejo Metal Color paint is easy to use with a hand brush or airbrush and a very realistic representation of metal.

Since the waist gunners' position are covered with large blister style canopies I wanted very realistic 50 caliber machine guns, so I ordered Eduard resin and photo-etched guns shown in Photo #7 with aircraft barrels shown in Photo #8.

Two days ago, I glued the hull together and yesterday I glued the Blicher Bits resin tail section to the hull. This morning I started body work with Vallejo #70.401 Plastic Putty made from 100% acrylic resin shown in Photo #9 and #10. The body work will take a few days because I give each application of putty a full 12-hours to dry.

Once the tail section body work is finished the hull will receive a light coat of Vallejo #73.601 Grey Surface Primer, so I can check for areas that may need more work.

Well, I made progress on my build, the 1/48 Supermarine Walrus.  But keep forgetting to post pictures.

This is the stock interior painted up with some Eduard seat belts, and the additon of a 'doodad' on the floor.  I have no idea what it is, scratch building it based on photos.

Decided that if I was to detail the interior, I would want to see better, so building a frame for the window so it can be posed opened.

Here's the interior done up,  made a map and projector for the navigator.  Finished the 'doodad', and added misc piping, and the missing backup pedals.

and right before closing up the top

That looks great!  Hope you can see that awesome interior once it's all buttoned up

Thanks,

It's been a while and don't want to leave anyone out so fantastic work by all, the quality of work and details are awesome.
Shot some green, tan and black marbling prior to shooting the tri color top coat.

The tri color scheme will be next.

That marbling with an undercoat first is interesting, kinda taking presiding to the next level. Very interested to see how that comes out, especially over a monochrome topcoat.

Nice work there, PJ. That will make an amazing tri-color.

Thanks guys. The trick here is to layer in the colors enough to let the marbling peek thru to break up the solid colors and add depth and tonal changes specially with the white under color. I have tried this before and the tan helps in the dirtying look of the paint.

Thanks. Yes that is one odd looking plane indeed.
Just a side note about the paint used, the dark sea blue is MCW enamel and sprays like Model Master but more durable. The white is Model Master.
The intermediate blue color had to be mixed using Testors enamels in the small bottle that are a good 40 years old and worked as if new. On the other hand, the bottle of Model Master intermediate blue that was barely 3 years old was like gum.  Testors poor quality control is very evident.

Tri-color is looking great. The mottling and fading is also spot on. This may be an odd bird, but it is looking really good.

Thanks BK. All the paint was done with the Sotar freehand. That little ab is worth a ton of gold at how well it performs.

Nice finish Helo on your Seamaster and I am impressed PJ with your paint work, that tricolor is something I have never tried. Waikong the Walrus is very interesting, I always like a model with detailed interior.

I made some progress on my own project over the last few weeks and even though it's an old kit from 1997 with minimal interior the plastic quality is very good. The Belcher Bits resin tail conversion is almost completed, just need to glue on the horizontal stabilizers and putty the seams and I should be ready for primer.

Given that shape of the tail at the join, its amazing how well you managed to get it to fit and blend. Looks like it came that way. Simply amazing really.

Very nice surgery.  You are a 'plastic' surgeon ;)

Started decals on this nightmare build.  Looking forward to getting her off the bench!

Thanks,
