fotofrank Many thanks, Fearless. I have a Bandai X-Wing headed for paint and you helped me decide how I'm going to paint it. Invasion Stripes, of course!

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
Even more progress on the 5th ERS Thunderbolt. I finished painting the Invasion Stripes on the wings this morning. I know this sounds like a big brag, but I'm really impressed with myself. Everything I've learned over the past five years is really coming together with this build. It's very exciting!
I cut stencils for the national insignia with my Silhouette cutter, sprayed the blue first then the white. Then I cut a mask for the national insignia then masked for the invasion stripes. Yesterday I sprayed the white and this morning I sprayed the black. After I peeled off the tape and masks and saw the results, I thought, did I really do this? My new attitude of DON'T HURRY is paying dividends.
There's a huge front headed our way. Lots of wind, drenching rain, for a couple of days, so I may not be able to paint the invasion stripes on the fuselage until Monday.
Thanks, Fearless. More to come.
Great work on that paint job Frank!
More progress on the 5th ERS Thunderbolt. I used my Silhouette to cut masks for the national insignia, then lots of Tamiya tape to mask the area for the invasion stripes. I'll lay down the Tamiya Flat White tomorrow followed by NATO Black. I've been learning a lot with this build. Pre-shading, post shading, masking, but mostly patience. Don't Hurry!
fearless. It does pay off .
Nick.
After a freaking crap ton of masking:
I'm pleased with it considering I used enough masking tape to circle the globe at least twice, a couple of Tamiya spray cans, and a brush...
Nice progress fearless.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

O, great job on the 38, came out really well. I'll get the riser updated.
I've been a bit distracted the last couple of weeks, haven't done much modelling or spent much time on line. But i am checking in when i can. I hope to finally get an update on the Liberator next weekend.
I hope everyone is doing well.
Cockpit and and major construction complete!
First coat of paint on the lower half of the aircraft
I'm sorry my participation here has been so poor, my time (and energy) is being absorbed by a new workshop I am building. I'm putting the roofing materials on now and as soon as it is weathertight I hope to be around more. O's P-38 is beautiful, the B-17 looks grand, and the pilot will appreciate the fine work on the Spitfire cockpit!

Finally wrapping up the cockpit. I'm embarrassed to say how much time I spent on this...
Can't wait to see that finished Nick.
PJ lovely looking Mustang. Really likeing your NMF finish.
some small stuff left to do almost done.
Fearless,John,Bish, and Steve many thanks is kit has been areal trick.
Gary. Your P-51 looking good!
Oortiz10. Very sharp barrels
P.J. Thank you your P-51 looks sharp with that paint work. Glad the glass part got resloved.
I got most of the glass and guns in place,engines/props..
Looking good crown, the paint looks great.
I too have been slowly working on my Mustang while waiting for the replacement parts that came in but are just a tad better than the kit’s so I will take that to the bank so to speak. Revell sent me 3 canopies and like Gary pointed out are different types.
The wing panel lines were puttied up to the center of the wing just like they did back then then shot silver enamel paint on most of the bottom wing and all of the top wing as this was the process done on the later Mustangs. Gloss black was sprayed and then was polished with Novus 2 to get a glass smooth finish. I experimented with a couple of panels and shot gloss dark grey to get contrast and break up the solid polished aluminum color yet to come.
Alclad Polished Aluminum was sprayed but allowing some of the dark base color to peak thru for the metal tonal shades.
It takes a bit more surface prep work but the extra effort pays off.
Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!
Wow, there's some great work going on here. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's completed projects.
Speaking of completing projects, I got this in the mail today...
Looks like I can wrap up this build this weekend. Hopefully I'll have some shots of my finished product by Sunday. Wish me luck! -O PS. Keep up the great work everyone. Lovin' it!

Fearlessfarless, Fotofrank, and Ortiz> You're all looking splendid... well, your models at least!
Thought I would post something to prove I'm actually doing something, which is... not much. Painting the pit and checking fit is about it. Had to decide on the type of seat to include (the Warren-McArthur). Didn't know P-51s were so complicated!
Oh, and I'm getting the 1/48 scale Hawk P-51D ready for restoration. Looks miniscule next to the Revell 1/32nd P-51!
Gary
There's a heavy

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.
