This may seem odd Gamera but I'm excited to see the car! The shape of that thing is just so odd and unique perfect find for the GB
In the pattern: Scale Shipyard's 1/48 Balao Class Sub! leaning out the list...NOT! Ha, added to it again - Viper MkVii, 1/32 THUD & F-15J plus a weekend madness build!
Looks good to me John! Did you try Silly-Putty? It's the only way I can do French camo.
I need to get some photos up of my car. The wheels are on and I'm getting close to being done. Mostly working on the surf boards now.

Hey John let's use the 1st poc.
Dang that tank is timy. Didn't have a sense for it till i looked at the paint bottles in the background. I bet you need a 20 thousandths needle for that fine work. Looking forward to the dio!
My progress unfortunately is pitiful...especially compared to Mongoose. But at least the pre shade is done. Now I have to figure out how to airbrush the colors. I kinda started playing around with the silly putty to see if I could give it a decent (and somewhat accurate to the plans) mask, but the thing is SO TINY. Who knows, maybe I should be sacrificing more accuracy in the pattern. I may possibly do some freehand airbrushing for it, but I expect I'd need a very fine nozzle for my airbrush to keep the pattern controlled...hmm.
So, for right now, I'll turn back to the diorama and see if I can't prep the pond for resin.

Thanks, Mongoose! Impressive work! You did a great job, and I'm so glad to hear that you're taking it to Nationals! Boy, I wish I could attend one of those events! I'll root for you as well!
Which photo would you like as your trophy pic/roster photo?
Whoa, whoa, WHOA Mongoose- that's FRIGGIN' AWESOME!!!
WOW, OH WOW!!!!
Holy bazonga, Mongoose, that is just cra~zy!
Good luck at the Nats! I can't go this year, but will be rooting for you!
“Ya ya ya, unicorn papoi!”
Hey Guys this ones DONE - Snoopy vs The Red Sea! Posting up my favorites of the finished pics now. This was a crazy one for sure. I've decided to take it out to the IPMS NATS this month. At the very least i think alot of people will enjoy seeing it!
John as you can probably tell I think this was an exciting group build. A great idea you had to drive some creativity! I'm looking forward to watching everyone's builds come together for sure. Lots of good stuff happening here.

That looks fantastic Mongoose!!! The 'water' looks perfect!
Looking forward to seeing you get the SR-71 fared in there.
Sorry I've been AWOL, guys! You're doing an excellent job, Mongoose! Great frogs!
keavdog Fantastic! Where did you get the little frogs?
Fantastic! Where did you get the little frogs?
I bought an stl file to 3d print them :-)
I had searched everywhere trying to find some little toy frogs and nothing was small enough. The whole 3-D printing thing really was what finished this off and completed the concept. I painted some different colored spots on them to break up the print layers that showed and they were all set.
Thanks,
John
G you're hilarious! Brought back some funny memories with that show. So with you and my wife's input I think this is all figured out :-)
Definitely down the home stretch. The outside looked too different from the rest now that it's all coming together. Originally I planned to seal and stain it but looking at it now that won't look right. I primed it tonight and will extend the water colors around the sides later this week. Look for another update in a few days... today's teaser, the Blackbird is done but, it will be the last thing i add before final pictures.

Mongoose,
Holy gazowee!
I think the frogs on the sand are perfect. The ones riding the tops of the surf seem a bit much - unless you are combining the Habu's flight with one of the Plagues of Egypt! Perhaps place a couple at the front of the diorama for the viewer's pleasure.
Uh... Huh-huh, I said "viewer's pleasure"! Huh-huh. Huh-huh-huh-huh-hun-huh...
Hey Butthead, check it out!!! There's frogs everywhere! Boiiiiinnnnngggg!
Huh-huh, settle down Beavis, this is like, a seriously cool diorama!
A... A what, Butthead?
No, you dumb-wipe, a DIORAMA. Pay attention Beavis!
OK guys I finally got an update! Now I know there aren't too many of us here but everybody who is here gets a vote, yay! Yep you guessed it, i need some opinions...I've started placing the frogs to see what it will look like. I put a few down in the sand, but just a few. Some frogs will be going into the waves and some coming out, maybe a few surfers too. take alook and are there too many frogs. Are they taking over the dio?
Chris edit - another thought, should they only be coming out of the breaking waves? Open to any and all ideas here gang :-)

Boy that's comin' together, Mongoose! Great job!
Again, that looks soooooo cool. I'd have had no idea where to begin on building something like this.
if you're reading this, i know what you're thinking, how involved can making a wave be? Haha well I'm complicating it some more :-) the above pics are with heavy gel medium so it'll keep it's shape as it dries to clear. Then I'll go over it with white to create the spray from the water. A little water effects to create some pools along the sand and it should be all set. I had an area up top in red that just didn't match the rest. The resin just dried on me too fast. So i added some heavy gel to it. That'll take a week to dry now as it's a thick area. next up is the lightning for the end of the curl and painting sand on the leading edge where the spyplane is entering so it matches the base. Frogs will be very last. Should be done next weekend. chris

Wow, that's soooooooooooooo cool Mongoose!!!
And the finishing touches on Snoopy!
to say I'm ecstatic about this would be an understatement. I am just thrilled with how this thing has come out
Working hot and heavy on this one while I'm on vacation so you'll see quite a few updates. Like this one! Really excited about how this is coming out so it's truly in process :-) What can't you find with a google search these days. It seems like there's someone with time to put all kinds of things online. Like a complete picture archive of every tail graphic ever done on an SR-71! Found my favorite, SNOOPY.
Later i'll hand sketch in his scarf and add bullet holes and some details to the doghouse. I've got a name for this dio now... SNOOPY vs. THE RED SEA

Real G, Gamera - thanks man!!
got a little painting done on the Blackbird. Ooh I'm still happy with this build. Just 2 divots showed up on the top. Now I'm gonna have to decide if i weather it or not. In the meantime these no step walkway lines came out sweet, i.e. the color tone seems to match the satin black perfect. An accomplishment seeing as it's a gloss red in the bottle haha
Wow Mongoose that's insane!!!
I got a little more work done on the little frog car- sorry not much to show though. I did take an old credit card and cut the surf boards out of it. Just need to add the fins and paint and they'll be done and worth posting.
Most epic Mongoose!
Well this was a crazy day trying to part the Red Sea. The YouTuber I am following for this Creation said wait 2 to 3 hours for the resin to gel off nice and thick so that you can create some very bold waves. Now when I did the standard waves that worked perfect. But I think adding the snow just like the YouTuber did change the whole equation. The resin was a liquid, I went in to use the bathroom, and I came out to this
Ok let’s try again. This time i got an aluminum pie pan so it could be spread out and stirred. Better but i still wasted half of the 16oz pour. One more time. Pay close attention i told myself, you only have 16oz left. Well it worked ok. Boy it set up quick again but i managed to get it all spread out before it turned to a thick gel that couldn’t be formed anymore. Added some snow for foam on the breaking waves and we’re all set. Tomorrow i I’m going to put the gesso on the dryer sheet, paint it up and add the acrylic gel medium. The next set of pics you guys should see should have some frogs in them!

John: I use Silly Putty to mask stuff like French camo. And if you don't like how things are going you can always just spray over it again.
Wow, Mongoose; you've been booking it! It looks great so far! I'm glad that 3D printing is working out and glad you were able to get out of that sticky situation. Is anything more painful in modeling than to see your masterpiece get hurt?!
I really gotta get going on mine again. I kinda shrink from the airbrush, though--gotta figure out how to do that tiny camo scheme on the tank.
Mongoose: Yeah, that's right- supports- that's the term I was looking for. Thanks!
Looks good! Sorry to hear about the accident but looks like you're back on the right track now!
Much batter results today :-) Ha, you'd think it was opening day given my spelling!
Bondo'd both ends and hit them with primer. Filed the wave gaps with foam and then layed on some dryer sheets. I really like these for shaping waves using the geso.
done for the day now as it's time to relax and start the holiday grilling!
Hey Gamera, I believe the term is supports. I've muddled around with the 3D printing so far and just now actually doing something with what I've read and watched others do. We'll see how this goes. Printed a bunch the other day. One batch has a bunch of fine plastic hairs all over it. Once I figure out how to clean them up I'll be close to done haha
Almost ruined my work so far yesterday. I wanted to encase the sides in something light weight. Hey, I figured, let's try the cardboard trick again but this time with posterboard since I want a red background for the waves...oh baby was it an epic failure. The adhesive I bought reacted with the fiberglass of all things, actually softened it. Then the fiberglass soaked into the posterboard and didn't dry solid. With the corrugated cardboard it has stiffness to it once it dries. The poster board was really flimsy. Even if the adhesive hadn't softened everything I don't think it would have worked because I'd have put a hand through it sooner rather than later :-)
The only picture is the scraps! Took me over an hour to clean it all up.
Back to the standard stuff. I picked up some thin 1/8" birch plywood for cabinetry and nail gunned it all together, with a little gorilla glue in between to hold it together long term Next up some foam in those spaces to fill it up and create some decent size waves. Then some dryer sheet over that and some gesso in reds and pinks.
