JacknewbIII , Nice work on your B-17. I think it looks quite nice despite the decal mihsap, which, IMO, could easily be mistaken for normal paint pealing from the wear and tear of wartime operations!  Now, which photo would you like me to use on the wall?

Bravo PhilliePhan79, The B-26 looks magnificant! Your hard work sure shows through there! Which photo would you like me to use on the wall?

That B-36 is quite impressive. Very nicely done on that kit Philliefan!

I am calling the B-17 complete. I have to say the kit didnt dissapoint me until I got to the decals. I store my kits in a shed in the PHX heat. Its very hot/dry and I have not run into much trouble but this is an exception. The decals were completely shot and I had to handle them with insane amounts of care. I added a pic of the tail where I had real trouble and used some paint chiping to try to cover it up. All in all not a bad kit for under $20. I added just a small amount of fumes and opted for a bit lighter shade that looks more loke what I saw on real older aircraft (grey with slight yellow). This was a fun build thanks for letting me be part of the group!

Cool car Lostagain.  Twice I have tried to build car models and both were shelved.

Final reveal of the B-36.  This model was a heavyweight and I went 12 rounds.  Could probably detail it a little more but honestly I'm tapping out.

Even in 1/144 she is my biggest subject.  Had to take it out by the pool for some pictures in natural light.

A nice addition to my 1/144 shelf

Nice looking B17 there Jack, the shading has come up a treat.

Stunning work on the Peacemaker Phillie Phan - you have got a fantastic result with some complex NMF there. Those wheels and landing gear look like a handful to deal with and soooo many props there. Nice circle cutter too.

CN, fantastic result with the A-4. A nice bit of colour brightening up the build. Very neat paintjob and great decal work.

Cbaltrin, shame about the Corsair canopy, but as you say, nothing to see here…

Trabi, looks like a quick build kit with so few pieces….

My build of the Lola has been glacial over the last three months due to leave a work demands. The chassis etc is basically together as you can see here, but the body has still got nowhere. A lot of work to go there.

The Peacemaker?

There was no peace for me, The Family pressured me to finish the kit so's I could get it off the porch and out of their way. No Peace there. Neat Kit though, nice job so far!

Back to work on the F4U-1-4-5N Wink

Since the canoy fit so poorly, I covered it with apoxie sculpt and sanded it down. No cockpit interior to see anyway..

cbaltrin

So here is an update on the Fujimi F4U-5N

1st , I had to buy a second kit as a wrecked the canopy of the 1st one. At least I would have a good propeller I thought... But No,  The 2nd kit arrived with a two bladed prop Crying.  Oh well, back to the original plan of fixing the 1st prop..

Since the kit comes with separate airlerons, I figured why not position the rudder and elevators as well. So I have been working on that. Filled in the gaps from the surgery with apoxie sculpt.

Now I just need to find some replacement tires. Seems to only accuracy requirement for the tires in this kit is that they be round. Sorry, I did not get a picture of the tires..

I've been able to squeeze a few hours in at the bench.  Did some final paintwork on the B-36 and have the last remaining pieces ready for final assembly.  I see the light at the end of the tunnel!  Ready for decals

Completed the prop and spinner assemblies.  Ready to mount after the powerplant decaling is completed.

Installed the most complicated landing gear assembly that I have ever encountered in modelling

After researching the B-36 u realized that this frame was not glass.  Had to fix that.

The B-36 has a lot of little 1/144 tires.  I wouldn't have even tackled this kit without my favorite circle cutter.

Made these perfect little circles a breeze

applied final paint detail

Got her up on her feet.  Looking the part now!

Some nice work going on here.

Castelnuovo - Love the A-4.  that is a great scheme for the scooter

Jacknewbill - Looking forward to what you can do with that kit.  The B-17 is a gorgeous airframe

Cbaltrin - I'm a big fan of Corsairs.  Nothing says WW2 Naval airpower like the sleek lines of a Corsair.  Good start on that kit

I decided to use the kit canopy of the F4u-5N. Could not find a suitable replacement and decided I was taking this build way to seriously -- not the objective of this GB -- not for me anyway. Gona need to black out the windows though --nothing to see inside anyway.

cbaltrin

Ok, here is an update on the Fujimi -5 Corsair.  Major construction is done.  Has been  a pretty straight-forward build. Only real dissapointment with the kit is the canopy. Its' a one piece job , and like the Monogram F4U, the canopy frame is molded as part of the fuselage ...and the fit is pretty bad. I actually wrecked it and made it unusable while trying to fix the fit with some hot water. I am currently searching for a replacement.   The prop is also broken but that should be an easy fix..  I am toying with the idea of replacing the guns

I was just trying to add some depth (all over the place lol) but think I covered those up pretty well. I left more around the engines where I am trying to draw your eye. I will add some additional weathering here once I get her decals on. Sorry I was away for a while but I am back on it now.

Your B-17 is looking very nice JacknewbIII.  Now just remember , those wing vents behind the engines are not exhaust ports Cool

that A-4 looks really sweet nce work!

After I primed the 17 I noticed there were some issues with the engine cowls so I had to do some more filling and sanding.. then another coat of primer. I used a rattle can I have that looks like a good bomber color for my base. I proceeded with pre- shading vallejo acrylic black and then finished with model master Olive drab and neutral grey. I wanted it to be subtle and feel like it looks decent. I need to add some black to the wings and then start with decals.

Nice work on your A-4 castelnuovo.  Iron bombs would have been cool, but things under wings sure can be a pain... I'll get the roster updated.

Well, lets call this one done...

Few things and problems I ran into...

It would have looked very cool with dozzen of iron bombs but with my shaki hands it was imposible to attach the bombs to the racks with very small pieces.

So I put on 3 cluster bombs. The instructions said paint them green but later on I saw thet they are white. Oh, well.

The kit supplies many cluster bombs but only 2 yellow stripes and they are not long enough. A bit of a yellow paint fixes that.

At the begining, the instructions say to attach the small antenas/pittot tubes in front of the cockpit. So I dutifully glued them on. At the very end, the instructions say to put the black anti glare decal, drums rolling, in front of the cockpit. That is, right over those darn antenas. No kidding. And just how am I supposed to do that now?

Similar thing with US sign un the lower part of the wing. Attach the bomb hard point and later they tell you to put the decals right where those racks are. It is solvable by cutting the logo in part, but still...

Over all, a good kit.

Well, this sucks. Either the canopy is too nerrow or the fuselage is too wide. It looks like this on both sides. Maybe I'll just built it with the canopy open...

It's been a minute, but I'd like to offer an update on my B-36.  Not much bench time with the kids spring schedules.

Though slow, the progress has been satisfying.  2 shades of Alclad Aluminum and Vallejo Matte Aluminum to simulate the magnesium.  I have a little more metal detail to add to the wings and a couple spots to clean up, then it is on to decals.

I was extremely happy with the results of the greenhouse masking.  For all the frustration with that microscopic masking it turned out pretty clean!

Hi Trabi, glad to have you in the GB.  That is some nice box art I have to agree! I'll add you to the roster!

Trabi

Hi! I would like to participate this gb if it´s still ok?

I bought this at begin of -90`s. Why? Look at that boxart! Something what was so hush hush and now there was a model of those! UUUU! Those colours and... and... aaa... soon to be mid air collision thinking now afterwards.

I used one missile from B-2 some twenty years ago and one part of F-117 is missing, but can be fixed. I propably have decals somewhere, but that can be solved.

Main thing why this kit was berried to closet is that, that quality atleast F-117 is something between funny and ridiculous.

That's looking fine castelnuovo. Love scooters. Hope to build a big scale jet myself one day. I remember having the old Hasegawa 1/32 F-5E once...
