Alright guys after somovid I am back at it. I have opened the kit, assembled interior, primed and coated the interior as well. I have to say I am not as upset with kit quality as I assumed I would be. Considering the $12 or so I spent I think this will be a gem. I am branching our into acrylics after the fall of MM and this is my first experience with Mission Models (Interior Green). I have to say it sprayed very nicely in the AZ dry air with no additives other then a little Vallejo flow improver. I will check back soon with more progress on the Fortress.

Thanks BK, Agree with you totally!

Looking good. It's kinda nice to builid these 72nd kits as they usually go togther quickly. Getting to the finish line sooner makes me feel like I really pulled something off. BK

Ok, here is an update on the Fujimi -5 Corsair.  Major construction is done.  Has been  a pretty straight-forward build. Only real dissapointment with the kit is the canopy. Its' a one piece job , and like the Monogram F4U, the canopy frame is molded as part of the fuselage ...and the fit is pretty bad. I actually wrecked it and made it unusable while trying to fix the fit with some hot water. I am currently searching for a replacement.   The prop is also broken but that should be an easy fix..  I am toying with the idea of replacing the guns

No problem, note these are 'mini' clothes pins. Can't remember if I got them at hobby lobby or the dollar store..  The ones I have are like 1.5 or 2 inches long...

JacknewbIII

Looking good on the corsair and thank for posting pics of the clothes pins. I have always wanted a non-plastic clip! Thanks for sharing the tip!

On folks, This GB is officially open!

I have decided on my first entry. It's the Fujimi 1/72 F4U-5N!  I have always loved the look of the -5N from back when I first saw one on the cover of FSM (1/32 converted from Revell -1 kit).  I think the box art captures the look of the variant well and the 2nd F4U passing  under the nose of the main subject is a nice touch, showing off the gull wing of the F4U well.

Opening the box I can aleady see visible mold release agent on the wings, so the first step will be into the dawn dish soap bath!  It also has posible airlerons with look pretty good compared to the dreaded Airfix posable control surfaces. This makes me was to cut out the rudder as well and pose it off one side as well.  I will have to replace the wheels however with some resine ones. Other than that, and possibly new guns,  I hope to keep it OOB.

I believe I have a qualifier here. I have never built in this scale and I am guessing this kit is not great... that being said check out the box art! It comes with a pin up poster and my choice of nose art lol. It was also like $10 so I just couldn't refuse.

I would like to join in with this 1/64 scale B-17

Here is a good one IMO. Might enter this one in fact.. still debating.  Just love this box art. The pilot climbing into the cockpit and other pilots running to their planes.. Look at all the detail on the pilot and the aircraft as well. Makes me really want to buy this and build it.  Would not have touched this kit in 100 years if the box just showed a photo of the finished model.

Nice Box Art 68GT. You're on the roster.   I was actually toying with the idea of doing the hasegawa/minicraft F-4E. It has some really cool artwork on the box as well.

I was thinking the same thing but remembered I bought this one just because it had box art that I've never seen before.

On Ed's bench, ???

Thanks,

John

I'd like to join with a Revell Germany 1:72 F-16C in Tigermeet livery. I saw the box art and just had to buy it. Why? I really like these non-standard schemes.

Hey cbaltrin, love the concept, I am in!

A few to choose from in the stash, old and new, but going with the vibe of the GB I will pick one of the older ones.
