2023 Git-R-Done Group Build (Ended)
Posted by cbaltrin on Thursday, November 17, 2022 7:33 AM

Ok, If you have a pile of half finished kits, then this is the GB for you.

2023 will be the year for you to clear up some space in your work shop and lose some space in your display case (or your kid's bedroom ceiling).

Rules are simple, pick some unfinished / stalled projects you have laying around and get them finished.

GB will start 12-1-2022 ( Hey, I like to build in December -- heck with this waiting to Jan 1st business!) and end on 01-31-2024.

Sign up starts now!

I like this idea, I have a few waiting in the wings. Getting to them this next year is iffy at best right now. I would like to give it a go.

Great incentive to clean up some projects that are 'almost' complete-I'm in!

Now I have to decide which ones to commit to....will advise.

I'm in, I have serveral to finish, Make me TBD until I figure out which to start with.

Also, would you mind if kits are added to the list after others are finished? LOL, I'm making sound like I'll get a bunch complete! Embarrassed Big Smile

Pencil me in. TBD at this time. I have so many half done and almost finished kits in the closet it will take me sometime to decide what comes first. I have already been pushing myself to finish some kits to get them off the bench and onto the shelf. The level of completion is not important, correct? Just git 'er done, right?

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Hi  fotofrank, no , level of completion is not really important; as  long as you are not at the decaling stage I would say! Wink.  I'll add you to the roster.

Put me down for a Tamiya P-51B to complete. There is still some painting and assembly to do to finish this kit. BTW: There are no decals on this airplane. Everything is painted and will be painted.

Alright, gentlmen, I'm git-er-ing done!

This is the Hasegawa kit I'm intending to finish:

It was started many moons ago for a Bf109 group build and I never finished.

Here it is, in it's current state:

The Eduard interior and exterior photoetch parts:

And the cockpit as I had left it:

I have started adding a bit more photoetch to various pieces and will get more progress pics as I get further along.

I will say, I haven't opened a kit in a long time, and its been quite therapeutic looking through the directions and feeling all the creative juice flowing again.

Another step closer to gittin-er done: I painted the nose and the spinner and then assembled the propeller yesterday. Next are the squadron/group/aircraft codes to be painted on the fuselage and vertical tail, probably tomorrow.

Looks good Frank. Did not know you were doing a blue noser.  Makes me think of the old blue nosed Testors electro-plated P-51D 'Moonbeam Mc Swine'. Man that was a pretty looking model on the box top... what markings are you doing?

I first saw this airplane at The Gathering of Mustangs and Legends back in 2007 and I've wanted to build a model of the airplane ever since. Finally started it several months ago, but then it ended up back in the closet where it sat until you started this group build. I live about 40 miles from where Stallion51 is based so I see a lot of blue nosed Mustangs. Kermit Weeks flies a blue nose too.

I have plenty of unfinished kits. Put me down for a 1/35 Meng T-10M, Tamiya 1/35 SU-100 and a Tamiya 1/35 ISU-152. Photos will follow as I get to them. Some of them are buried in the model closet.

Fotofrank,

That is an outstanding subject! And the model is coming along very well. I'm looking forward to seeing more progress.

I did get a bit more done with the PE:

I wasn't getting a good vibe with the supplied nose mounted machine guns. So I splurged for an after market brass barrels:

And the kind of before and after photos:

Hope to get a bit more done through the weekend, will be posting again soon!

cbaltrin, could you change the name of the Tamiya Su-100 to Su-85? I realized my mistake after pulling it out of the closet.

Here are pictures of the first two models I plan to start with.

The Su-85 is ready to be painted green. Once painted it should be finished pretty quickly. Although I am debating if I want to give it a winter white wash or not.

Meng T-10. This is a model I really wanted to like but haven’t enjoyed building it at all. The plastic is like very soft making it annoying to work with all the little parts. The main thing I need to do on this model is finish adding the fuel tanks and building the workable tracks.

Sure GreySnake, you're all set.  Personally, I think a winter wash would look great on that big slab of steel.
