Okay, so here is the one I want to wrap up this year. No biggie you say. HAH! Not only do I have to fully paint and assemble the loose bits you see, but I have a full Tiger I to build with it and put it all on a dio. So, as you can see, this one will be a handful. I have all this set up in my mind, I just have to execute the design. Offta May, I think this one will be some work.

BK

FYI, this is my Fury dio I started last year.

Ok Gents, I decided I have to add one more kit to my already audacious list of entries.

I just have to get this sucker done this year. I just need to stop trying to make everything perfect and get the sucker put together. A built kit with imperfections is always better than a 1/2 build kit sitting in a box for 10 years, right?

Made quite a bit of progress on the Fort in the last two days. Got all the fuselage windows installed and finished painting and installing interior details. Just need to finishing modifying  these cheek guns so barrels can be installed later then I will be ready to button up the fuselage.

Off hand I know I have 2 Monogram F106A in 1/48, 1 ICM MK.VIII in 1/48 and 2 Fujimi Ju 87B/R in 1/72 scale.

On Ed's bench, ???

Thanks Brandon! I am not sure I caught what your entry is? Roster still shows you as a TBD?

OK here is what I would like to submit for the GB entry:

I really need to get this off the "to-do" pile, as there is nothing holding the project up except for a lazy builder!  Even the indy-link tracks are assembled.

Ok fellas,  Here is an update on the Monogram B-17G. Got the wings very close to paint stage. Finally cleaned up all the leading edge, trailing edge and cowling seams. Got the engines and cowlings done. Have to add prop shafts to two more propellers and mask the engins.

I also think I finally figured out what paint I used 10 years ago on the lower fuselage.. Pretty sure it's Tamiya XF-66 Light Grey Confused.  I know the 'faded OD' was Mr Color OD with some white added and I think I have re-created that shade; but it needs some testing and possibly a few more drops of white...

Don't you just hate going back to a build and going "now just exactly where was I and what colors did I use?" You'll get it all sorted out. By the way, the P-51 pilot needs a repramand, you can't park like that.

Last night I finished gluing the fuselage. No major (or minor really) paint damage from the gluing process  Surprise

I found that most of the glue (Tamiya Xtra Thin) could be applied to the inside of the seam via the multitude of openings in the fuselage.

I also started painting the wings. Figured I would have a go with chipping fluid. It did not really work out. Made two mistakes 1) not a thick enough base color (Tamiya flat aluminum lacquer in this case). 2) Not enough chipping fluid.  half of the chipping you see in the photo is all the way down to the bare kit plastic! Oh well, live and learn. Easy to repaint.

Started working on the top turret as well. That's gonna be a pain to mask now that I have polished off all the panel lines  Whistling

Thanks Brandon. It's very motivational once you are past that step (especially when it's already painted!)

Oh that B-17 is shaping up!  So cool.  That kit caused quite a buzz when it came out (1975?).  I think it went for $8.75 at the time, stratospheric for a kid in 5th grade!

Been switching between various builds trying to progess each one. I spent yesterday and today working on stowage for the Fury build. Today I went ahead and painted the camo on the tank itself. I began with Olive drab followed by black for the camo. When that was done it was just too light for Fury, as the movie tank is quite dark. So I over shot the whole thing with German Camo dark green to both darken the tone and further blend the camo together. I'm very happy with it so far. I have plenty left to do, but we are getting there.

OK cbaltrin, my TBD has been determined! Now that my last project has been finished, I'm ready to jump in and get some stuff done! What am I going to do, you ask? I'm going to finish up a couple of 1/48 OH-6s.

It's about time I stop egg-noring these two and get cracking on finishing them. OK, OK, enough yolking around. Let's egg-splore the project ahead, shall we?

One of the kit's is AMP's OH-6A that's a multimedia kit with decals for Miss Clawd IV. Although, from what I could find, the original MCIV did not have the tall skids included in the kit. I'm not a rivet counter, but I decided on using the kit, as boxed, as the base for a different subject. I have a few ideas for markings, but haven't decided on the final version yet.

The other is Academy's "Stealth" MH-6. This one I'm going to do in WIF markings. Again, have a few ideas but haven't decided on anything specific, yet.

Here's where things stand:

I hope to have some egg-citing progress to show next time I post. Until then, stay tuned!

Cheers,

-O

Those academy Hughes chopper kits are fun.  I've got the CHP 500 in the stash and built the TOW defender some time ago.  Never seen the AMP kit.  Looking forward to these little birds.

Thanks,

John

I first saw this airplane at The Gathering of Mustangs and Legends back in 2007

fotofrank, was the the one they held in Columbus Ohio? I went to one with my dad around that time but don't remember the exact year.  This plane and another P-51B were doing formation acrobatics -- I do remember that.

Making progess. Painting all this stowage is taking ages. Most of that is ready for installation and the tank is ready for an oil wash then decals, then stowage and weathering. I've started the figure painting but only the basics so far. More to come.
