One thing to remember when using Pledge, your wash has to be a little thinner than normal.
While this stuff does lay out as a gloss, it has alot of 'grip' when it comes to getting washes to flow along panel lines etc.

South Aussie your instument panel came up a treat,the whole c/pit of the Hasegawa Spitfire MK V11 is very well detailed all i added was seatbelts and i opened the c/pit access door.....
Heres a pic of the underside of my Spit 8.
i'll finish off with pastels and a wash after i paint and decal the rest of it....J.S

The panel looks good from my end of the line ? Big Smile [:D]

I'd be happy if something i did turned out looking that good. Well should have the chassis of the serria and interior tub finished by the weekend and the body ready to be sprayed for when my replacement parts for my airbrush arrive.

well finaly got started on the first of my serrias for this group build. Big Smile [:D]

Will be the 89 moffat one, have been held up trying to finish my two cars for another CGB. It's good to see everyone progressing so well.

Darren, the snuggle down reason is why I gave it a miss, couldn't see it doing on that type of panel.

Darson thanks for the info on Gibbes's spit,i'm building the Sattler feild Spitfire V111...

South Aussie i binned the instument panel decal and went for hand painting,it comes up really good after dry brushing.....J.S

I've got the Hasegawa Spit Mk.VIII and I still haven't decided on the instrument panel decal. From the look of it I'll probably go with go with painting as I just don't know how well it would snuggle down.

I’ve used instrument decals before and the results have been ok (at least for my standard anyway). This is a photo I took of my Tamiya P-47s instrument panel and it was done with the decal and a drop of Tamiya clear over each instrument.

I was just wondering how many of those in the group build who picked to build the Hasegawa Mk . VIII Spitfire actually tried to apply the instrument panel decal and how they went with it.

I took one look at the at the decal and panel and decided to hand paint the instrument panel, I was going to post a photo of it but Im having Banged Head [banghead]

trouble with setting up my website at present, will try again when I sovle the problem.

Matt, for your info the latest issue of Flypast magazine (June) has an article on a restored Hudson warbird (No. A16-112). It's the only airworthy Hudson in the world. It was built in 1941 and served in 14sqdn and 6 sqdn. There's a nice 4 page article and colour pics of the restored bird. Just thought you might be interested.

Hi everyone, I haven't been too active in this build, as i have been finishing others, but now that I am getting close, I am in big trouble. My build is twofold; one part is a white metal figure of a Lighthorseman, which I am struggling along with, whilst the other is a Airfix Hudson, which I would like to make an aircraft from 13 Squadron from. The trouble is, I can't seem to find any info on 13 Sqn Hudsons at all, so I don't know what paints or markings to use. I also realise, from an old Plastics Modeller article, that there are a few inaccuracies with the kit, but after my latest efforts with plane kits, I may have to ignore these. Lastly, the kit looks awful.....

Any help would be appreciated, particularly on any decals available, or marking schemes to work from. Also, a virtual pat on the head with a "everything is going to be just fine" would be good too! Black Eye [B)]

From what I can gather from my scant resources, Bobby Gibbes flew two Spitfire MKVIII’s.

The first aircraft (A58-497) carried a scheme of Foliage green and dark earth over azure blue with white ID stripes on the leading edges of the wings, crashed following an engine failure after take off at Sattler field outside Darwin in December 1944.

I am modeling Gibbes second MKVIII (A58-602) when 457 Squadron, 80 Fighter Wing 1st Tactical Air Force, RAAF was stationed at Morotai, in 1945. Camouflage is the standard RAF temperate scheme of dark green and ocean grey and upper surfaces over medium sea grey lower surfaces. The wing leading edges and cannon barrels wear the white theatre identification markings as well as a thin band around the rear fuselage, and a red spinner.

If anybody has any further (or more correct) information I would love to hear from you.

Your A/C code is A58-602 Did Gibbes fly more than one spit or is there conflicting evidence.............J.S

Darren i'm also doing the same kit and thats onething i couldn't understand about the hasegawa kit "No Pilot Door" anyways i cut open the door and i'm using a spare door from a Trashed ICM Spit 8.
I didn't replace the seat just added Eudards coloured PE Spitfire harness....
PROGRESS REPORT
I gave the A/C an overall coat of green applyed the masks,painted the brown and pulled off the masks along with large portions of green Disapprove [V]

I cleaned the A/B and kept going with the brown,so now the Spit is overall brown,had to apply a few coats to cover the green,anyhows it's ready for some more paint freindly masks.....

I have my Hasegawa Spitfire Mk.VIII and have given it a mild bath of detergent in preparation for painting. I picked up the Humbrol colors this morning, so I plan on giving the interior a blast with some RAF Interior Green tonight.

I want to build this OOB as much as possible but couldn't resist:

G'day All,

Just stumbled across this GB, the models look great but I have a question! There is a lot of WWII stuff being done, where is the modern stuff? Here are some the kits I have finished in the last year or 2

Nitto 1/100 B707 with Roodecal decal

1/144 Minicraft with Hawkeye Decla and Dragon Hornets

1/144 Revell B737-800 converted to a BBJ (-700) with Hawkeye decal

Do you see a bit of a theme developing here? In work at the moment is a 1/72 scratch built Falcon 900, another 1/144 B707 and a 1/96 Glencoe Viscount converted to a -800. Don't know if I will get any of them finished by the time the GB finishes though I will give it a go!

I finally put my telescope away and did some modelling tonight,all the stencils for the spit are cut and i should be ready to start painting the upper colours this weekend...
I'll post up a couple of pics when i get the film developed.....

I know how you feel mate it happens to us all at one time or another,my Panzer 1V had to have a resrpray after all the salt fell off...My fault i left the garage door open and the moist night air did the rest.......J.S

I got to and polished the body of the Mercedes today and went too far - right through to the body along a short section of one seam. Unfortunately decals won't cover it so a re-paint is now scheduled! Sad [:(]

Then to top it of I went to my LHS to get some Tamiya matt black spray and it was the only paint they were out of stock of!!! Banged Head [banghead]

Thanks for the pics Dave,and thanks Luke for the web adress i had a good look at both of them.
My spitfire is a/c code RGV serial A58-497 and it doesn't carry the Grey Nurse markings on it.
In answering Lobbie's ? I'm using Decals Carpena printed in Portugal by seridecal for the Spit.
I also have a spare set of ICM decals for Caldwells Spit that South Aussie mentioned.
iread somewhere that there was a little confusion as to what the correct serial number was on Caldwells Spit V111,the serial number on the ICM decals is A58-484.
Wing commander Bobby Gibbes was Caldwells Deputy commander of 80th wing,so South Aussies Spitfire V111 and mine may well have shared the same runway at one time or another.

Just for info on the Hasegawa kit. The grey nurse is the alternate version in the kit that I am building, there is a difference in the marking and painting of the kit to the finish of the model in Hyperscale, the kit version indicates a white spinner instead of a red one, does not have the Ace of Spades marking on the tail although this is on the decal sheet to be used for the CR-C model.
