                        BTW, I use the old style tooth paste to buff out my plastic, not the gel. Buff it out and then give it a bath to get rid of any grit that gets stuck in odd places.

                        ewc2003, Have you thought about using foil? Its easy enough to use if done properly. Cut it in small enough sections to work with and just concentrate on one section at a time. Your plastic finish has to be as good if not better than with metalizers though as foil will pick up and highlight the slightest imperfection. You can also apply decals over the top of foil and use a glosscote to seal it. If you paint over the top of it (not really recomended) use a primer coat first and be real sparing with the paint. If the paint runs or you get any overspray it can be a pain in the @$$ to fix.

                        well my friends i had been interested in this build but had not found the kit i was looking for. the monogram b-17g. but thanks to lobbie it appears one will be coming my way. i will be building a bomber from the european theatre, the black cat. this bomber became mary anne. a friend of mine's wife's uncle was the belly gunner and i am going to build it for him. my friend as the uncle passed about three months ago.

                        I have the Testors Metalizers (Aluminum), and the kit looks to be a bear, esp with the decals. Also, I found a site that had some info on the 1:24 scale P-51D with a scratchbuilt interior, since the instructions are a little vague. Also trying to look at whether or not to do the whole wing open with exposed guns, etc...

                        If the Metalizers don't work, what would use suggest? Any help would be appreciated... :)

                        Wo sorry about that Prowler, but at least you did save the cockpit, Oh and a word of caution, Monogram kits and Metalizers do not mix. Tons of sanding and filling required on that kit, Im not happy with what Im going to have to do to get mine ready for the paint shop. But Alcalad is the best metalizer I have ever used it is great, expensive but great.Big Smile [:D]

                        Um dont thank me yet, I cant accept this for the build. See it is not a Monogram kit, it is a Revell of Germany as you stated, so it cant be put into this build. SorrySad [:(]

                        But I looked at your pics and I have to say you do some very fine work, we would love to have you in the build, just find a Monogram kit and your in. Buy like one of there current fighter kits at Walmart so its not so much trouble to go and get one[ at a hobby shop:D]

                        I have found the detail in at least the cokpit to be very nice in my 110. This is one of their nice cockpits. I'll try to post some picts when i get it finished and drybrushed.

                        The EA-6B is history, thanks to my 4 year old son. He wanted to see it fly... from my third story balcony. I managed to save the cockpit. I'm going tonight to find another kit. Heck, I have the instructions from Monogram's 1985 1/72 scale F-4J release...will find one tonight to start up... will post tomorrow on the latest...

                        You got that right, oh and Monogram has updated there kit since it first came out but only in the radio compartment I belive, I know it had seatbelts on it because my friend has a 1977 boxing of the bomber and its seats have belts on them also. Oh and I know they updated there representation of the Nortan, it used to be in two pieces and smaller but it is now in one peice and bigger, with more equipment on it.Big Smile [:D]

                        LOL Chem...welcome to the world of ealry monogram my friend. Strap in, Turn it over, Hit the afterburner (since your'e doing a tomcat) and ride into the sand and fill world we all love.

                        Decided to build straight from the box, unless you count filler putty as a super detail item for this thing!!!. Gonna go natural metal on it with Alclad. Is it me or did they add detail to this thing...I don't remember seatbelts on this thing when I built it when I was in the 6th grade?

                        It has been a long time since I built the Monogram F-14A; it was only my second build as an adult, and the original has long since gone to model purgatory. This weekend I unwrapped the kit I bought for $6 and test fit some of the major components. Hmmmmmm. I had forgotten how challenging this kit really is. The fuselage halves are mismatched end to end by at least 4 mm! This is really going to be a job - lots of flash, raised panel lines, and mismatched parts. What have I gotten myself into?

                        Woot. One Monogram B-17G kit acquired and basic Interior colors going up. Waiting to buy my Eduard b-17 PE sets for my next paycheck. I think I will be down to the wire with the deadline but I won't quit.
                        Do I have to post pics?? I might have a smidge of a problem there but we'll see. I have a camera and scanner...but not sure of the lens on my camera for those close ups for ya all.

                        Daryl, By any chance do you still have the instructions for the Typhoon? I bought a bunch of kits at a garage sale (105 kits for 10$) and most of them are missing instructions and or decals. The decals I can live without but the instructions on the other hand. If you do would you be willing to snail mail me a copy of it? I'll pay for the postage.

                        I will do my best to get it in. My Airbrush is going back to my LHS since it is missing parts to it. Gonna reorder one from beariar for about 50 bucks less anyways. after that I should be able to purchase my kit and sets for it.

                        oh and Richard James a group build is when a bunch of model builders come to gether and build models that are somehow realated and they set a start date and a finish date, and when they are done they post all of there pics of there models up in this forum for every one to see.

                        If you really need it back I can put the date back to December 1st, but since most of the kits being built here dont take more than two to three months to build outta da box, or upgraded, but in the case of fighters sometimes less than a week, I think that everyone that is doing two or less aricraft should do maby one more but only if they were origianally doing just fighters. ( not including P-61 since it is a much bigger kit)
