Ray, unfortunetly, True Details never includes the film and PE instrument panel, because i love PE and film instument panels!! that is a cast resin IP and i tell you what i did. the bezels are recessed and the dials and tick marks are raised detail. so, i painted the whole IP flat black, drybrushed and wasn't satisfied with the look, so i took a toothpick and ran around and round inside the bezels knocking the piant off the raised detail. the color of the resin againt the black looked pretty good, but i didn't want to get called out on it so, i took a white pencil and ran it around and round inside the bazels too.LOL it worked fairly good i thought. later.

Aaron, can't wait to see the progress pics of your Tomcat! Don't see many guys modelling those lately...

Unfortunately, it'll have to be awhile. I'm building a MH-60A for a competition on 18 Sept and I'm going back to college tomorrow. Sad [:(] Now that I've said it, I guess I'll actually have to finish it. Tongue [:P] All I've done with it so far is try to detail Revell/Monogram's F110 engine nozzle with the nozzles from their F-15E kit, but their too small to fit properly, so I either have to cut the petals out sperately and fit them around the F-15E nozzle or I have to scratchbuild the insides of the F-14's petals... am I making any sense?

Count me in! My favorite area for modelling.
Put me down for an SC-1 (just started), a TA-7C, and a J4F.
Later!

Update!
If I left you out, squeal...

Thanks for everybody's participation in our GB. Looks like we have a few more late arrivals. I will in and out alot during the next month or so - I am transferring up to Arkansas next month and I have a household to move.

I think we have the Corsairs covered. Anybody going to try a Corsair II (besides the TA-7C)?

I almost pushed the envelope last weekend at the LHS... almost bought the newly released CH-46... 1/48 scale.

It seemed a shame to do it up in Navy Grey though... I flew on one detached to a rapid deployment team and it is my favorite aircraft... only problem was I was a Hospital Corpsman attached to a Marine Unit and they were all Marine choppers... so I am going to stick to my "Sandy" for now...

Hi All

GLENS asked that I post the progress pics of his P-3 Orion - Hasegawa 1/72

Looks like Glen has filled, sanded and primed thus far. I can see just a sliver of the seats in the office too. Nice job so far Glen. Try zooming in with your pics next time aroundSmile [:)].

BTW - use the same procedure that you used when attaching pics to your signature field. Just dump the pics into the message field after clicking on the pics icon up top.

is that the Accurate Mimiatures SBD-3? I'm interested to see that one, built the SDB-5 but want to do the 3... my uncle was a tail gunner on one of those in WWII... kind of a nostalgia piece.

Kinda like a kit I bought off Ebay for a 1/72 OS2U I was gonna do for the old guns build.. I got it today, it is like 20 pieces IF that... no panel lines... kinda dissapointing.. hoping to win the bid for the 1/48 MM Pro builder... it's supposed to come with a lot of detail... if I dont get it I will build this one and I am going to take a pic of it sailing through the air on fire... (literally) and call it a diorama...

Okay I torched my kit with a candle and severly warped this crashed/crumpled bird. I hated to do this to a corsair but I was reaqlly angry at the kit, I post pics of it as soon as I can...

at this stage of my patience with this hobby, i like to get kits without many parts. like the Tamiya P-51D stang, a nice, well designed kit that can be built in a few days without headache. lovely to me. i get bogged down with a gazillion parts to detach, sand, shape, and glue on, just give me the simple ones, i'm happy. i don't like alot of ordinance either, but i'm sure all of this will change with the "growth" curve. sorry you guys are disappointed with your kits. hang in there though, you'll be surprised to see how well they look when sanded, filled, painted, and decaled. later.

I like those too Salty... I did the same kit and loved it. Occasionally I like to move up to something like the AM SBD-5 with a lot of cockpit parts and everything is nicely detailed, just for a challenge.

This one was disappointing tho... the wings were molded one piece as were the floats... it was kind of snap-togetherish. The A-1 I am doing for this build is ok though, more along the lines of that Mustang you are talking about. Only thing aftermarket on it will be the decals.

yeah, i'm working on the SBD-3's cockpit still!! i got most of it done, all i lack is sliding the seat assembly into place, installed the floor assembly, which is assembled and detailed, then, i guess it'll be on to the engine. but you're right, the cockpits for these birds are well detailed. IMO, some of the parts seem a little "bulky", for lack of a better term, moulded in styrene. this is my first AM build, and i love the concise instructions, and well moulded parts. if i didn't have a couple of other builds going along with it, i'd probably get bogged down on it. she's comin' around slowly though. later.
