Holy young whipper-snappers! I got a son older than you, he turned 16 back in July. I will be 36 this March...no, I do not feel old, I act like a 6 year-old most of the time, so my wife tells me. My kids think I'm a fun dad, they take me seriously when needed, but I'm (mostly) not a stodgy, uptight dad.
As to the Tomcat, I'm stuck on the intake ducts. I tried filling the seams on the interior of the ducts, but my stupid fat fingers forced the joints apart, so I had to re-glue and re-putty the seams. I ended up thinning Squadron white putty w/ alcohol and "plastering" the entire duct interior. Once I test fit the duct into the intake trunk, and that onto the bottom fuselage, you really won't be able to see much of the ducts anyways....D'OAH!!
I think I'll NOT cut out the "notches" on my beaver tail, I saw an F-14A photo with the tails intact. I'm dangerous with a saw. If I try to cut the tail notches out, trust me, the cockpit will be all butchered up. Don't ask, just trust me. I'm that bad with a saw. My wife still won't let me use fresh, sharp blades in my Exact-O knife.
I found decals that I think I'll buy, they're F-14A's "Afghan War Heroes", VF-41 Black Aces. I'll do the CAG bird, "Anna". Now to find photos of the real plane. Anyone have suggestions as to where I can find these?
Geesh, this is taking FOREVER!
