Thanks waikong! Can't wait to see the progress.

Excellent Tankmaster! Here's an idea that may help speed things up. Try buildeing a few sub-assemblies like the wings, or the undercarriage, or something that can be done quick. That way, you'll make some extra progress for when the P/E goes on.,

Just a thought of course..

I love the lok of the resin cockpit in your previous photo, I'll bet it looks awesome in grey!

Very very nice Duke. Today the plan is to get the grey paint sprayed onto the cockpit. I should be completely finished with the cockpit by next weekend. However, the delays don't end there! I'm using and eduard PE set so that will continue to sloow down my progress.

Yeah Perutu! So far I'm the only one here building two MiGs for this Build, why not join me in doing two?

As of yesterday, I got the landing gear on both of them and started with the basecoat of paint on the German MiG 23.

Here's the Indian MiG 21sitting on the wheels:

Here it is showing the completed undercarriage:

Here's the MiG 23 showing the completed undercarriage:

And sitting on the wheels:

Here it is sporting the dark green basecoat that I'll be painting the camo pattern over:

Looking forward to seeing more pics of everyone else's projects!

So If it's not too late i'd like to join please. I'm about to purchase a 1/48 and 1/72 of the MiG 29 UB and will give it marking of the Peruvian AF.
So do I make the 1/48 or the 1/72 for this group build?

Your request to join is denied!!!Wink [;)] Of course not. We're all very glad to have you aboard here. Why don't you take the leap and make both of them? Oh yeah, welcome to the forum!!!

I'm sure you can join. Tankmaster7 is a good guy who'll welcome you gladly. After all, he said it in the beginning:

"Start date: January 10 2005. (You can join in the middle or whenever, though.)"

Duke, can't wait to see the pics. Interesting you mention putting on the landing gear first before painting. I always paint before putting on the gear, in fear of breaking them, and I usually have to do some touch ups in the wells. Any insight on your preferred method?

Well, I've done it both ways. I've used a liquid mask before to cover the wheel wells and about half the time it's a devil to get it off again. Tape tends to 'bleed' so I always end up having to clean out, or touch up the wells afterwards anyway. I'll mask the wells and paint before mounting the landing gear if I am going to spraypaint the model. (I did that on my Su21 Flagon) If I am going to hand paint it, I'll go ahead and put on the landing gear, paint the model, then mask around the outside of the wells before doing any touchups to the landing gear and wells. Most times, I find this to be better whenever I'm doing a two-tone or more camo pattern. So far, I've never had any landing gear break on me during painting, unless I dropped the model! Black Eye [B)] I'll see what I can do to get some pics up later today.

Come on Tanky! Stop talking to yourself so you can get some work done! You know how talking distracts you! You gotta catch up! Big Smile [:D]

Awesome work Waikong! That paint scheme is gonna look great!

I got the landing gear on both my models, and applied the canopies to them as well. I'm glad I had a second MiG 23, since I lost the clear parts to the one I'm building.I also applied the basecoat to my MiG 23. I'm going to camouflage it like my German MiG 29. I'll get pics up later when I can.

Thanks for your remarks Duke, its the first time I've done such extensive work on a panel so I'm rather happy with it.

Here's an update to my combined Aerobatic Team/Foreign Mig GB of the Chinese F7 (Modified Mig21). Closed up the cockpit, scratched built the armor glass, lots of filler and sanding, followed by a primer, a white coat, masking, and the 3 tone color scheme completed. Next up will be the gloss coat, a wash, and decals - including a few home made ones.

Nice work Tankmaster!

I better give some update regarding my own build then:
Have been working on my MiG-15. The pilot soon ready to be fitted inside the fuselage. Nothing extra in the cockpit, just OOB (even if it's a very simple seat etc). Oh, a weight fitted inside the nose, of course.
Wings and other parts sanded, wheels painted, and next is the fuselage to be glued together and wings to be attached.
I have no digital camera, but I will see what I can do regarding pics.

That's the Aires resin and PE cockpit set roughly fitted inside the Academy 1/48 MiG-29. What do you guys think so far? Lots of filling and sanding needed still though.

Thanks Duke! Actually, I might have read the review, and still bought the kit (it was £4, around $7.50) so not too much. In the model shop though, they had the new Revell MiG kit, which is being wowed over. I was so tempted to buy that, and abandon the Kopro, but now I'm determined to finish it, just because the challange is there, and I don't want to think that a small thing like parts that don't fit will stop me

Nice work waikong! Do the needles move in those dials? Big Smile [:D]Wink [;)]

That is a great looking cockpit. Keep up the good work.

Osher, probably would have done the same thing. Still, there is nothing like reading a review before getting a new kit. My reference to your bravery was because you actually started that kit with the intention of completing it! Big Smile [:D]Thumbs Up [tup] Way to go!
