Would the Kustevsov aircraft carrier count for this GB? Or was that finished a bit too late? - Calvin

Progress pix of the two F-101's.......
So far the pits are in and the halves are glued together. The seats are next and then the landing gear bays.

The first set of pix are of the Verlinden cockpit set and the last set are of the pit that comes with the kit. Could you have told the differance???

Enjoy.

Not with the way you painted them. Excellant looking. You are doing the monogram 1/48th?

Too answer a few questions. I don't think the African nations were too terribly involved with the cold war, but I wouldn't say no to them being included here as the KGB and the CIA fought some very covert actions in and around Africa.

I think the Kustevsov falls just outside of the paremeters of this GB. When was he launched??

Everybodies work is looking good. I have enjoyed all of the pics that have been posted so far. Keep up the good work.

SHE was launched in 1985, but comissioned in 1991, so it's not all that clear.

Comrade, In the Soviet navy, all of the ships were known as males. Something to do with the Russian mentality and probably a little chauvinism thrown in to bootBig Smile [:D]. Go ahead and include it if you want, I'll take the earlier date.

Great work on the 101 cockpits Skarpotchi. That really is inspirational stuff. Makes me want to get out there and build models. Thanks.

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Haha sergei. You clearly have learned nothing from Hunt For Red October. (The book.) ALL ships in the Soviet navy were referred to as "HE".

EDIT: It seems that Roadkill has told you this already though. Whoops.Clown [:o)]

Thats a good looking Typhoon Comrade. My MiG is making progress and I should finish with the foiling by Monday. I'm not too thrilled with the way it's looking and in the future I may just use paint. I'll post some pics of it tomorrow. Next up for me will be the F-80.

****A NOTE FOR EVERYONE****
As you finish PLEASE post it so I can add it to the title page.

CORRECTION.........................................................................................

I stated that the cockpit for my F-101 was from Verlinden...............
That is wrong, a group of Russian Spetsnaz kidnapped me and forced me to broadcast false information. Well I managed to escape and would like to tell you the truth.

The cockpit detail set is from "Black Box"...........................................

Ummmmmm, thats funny there's a helicopter hovering over my house. Better go check it out..........................................................................................Wink [;)]Tongue [:P]

Great! Thank you, Comrades! The ship was definately built for the Cold War and was at least trying to have some air presence on the high seas, albeit "only" the size of a American Midway-class! - Calvin

Update: I am nearly finished with foiling the MiG. All I need to do is finish the U/C doors and then do the canopy. Then its decal time. Next up will be the F-106.

Please post what is finished so that I don't have to go through everything looking for whats been finished and possibly missing anything. Thanks!!

Okay, here are the promised pics. They're not the best, but they'll give you an idea what I'm doing.

I'm not too satisfied with the foiling as I wound up with wrinkles in spite of going slow and using small pieces of foil. Next BMF will be getting done using paint, in spite of the fact that my last few attempts at that ended in disaster. Don't nobody tell me how good alclad is because I want to use it, I just don't own an airbrush at the moment.

Nice work on the MiG foiling Roadkill. Sorry about the wrinkles. I don't notice any from the pics. All the NM MiG's from that era never looked "mirror-like" anyway.

Hi guys! Quick progress report on the Monogram B-36. All of the interior bits and pieces have finally gotten a coat of paint. I'll try to get pics for you ASAP after detail painting is finished.

roadkill_275------

well it still has the realist metal finish I've seen. I know how you feel about BMF paints. Both of my tries at it left me feeling unsatified to say the least. But I found out what I did wrong with the Alclad2, and will try it again some day. Back to you....Like I said your finish does look very realistic and I think it looks good.

Thanks for sharing.

Very impressive roadkill. I'm so behind, and I've been on trips for work for the past month and a half, and the crap has no immediate end. I'm just itching to start this build allready.
