Hey Dave, long time no hear! Hows BC(and the new job) treating you? a little warmer than the peg eh? Been house hunting have you? I wonder what the market is like out there compered to the peg. (ps make sure you find a house with lots of rooms, that way you get to have one for your models!)Laugh [(-D]

Jboutin:

The job and the weather out here has been great (snowed last week in Winnipeg I hear Shock [:O]). I've started looking, houses are considerably more than in Winnipeg but not as bad as Calgary prices (but close). Still affordable, not like Vancouver. Saw one house that would be perfect (for the family and modelingBig Smile [:D]) but I need to wait a couple of weeks to clear up other stuff before I can get serious about making offers. How's your new house?

I was browsing the net wondering if maybe the CAF were interested in the Super Hornet and ran across this site. Kinda interesting! - Calvin

http://www.whatifmodelers.com/air/bsnell/barrysb.htm

Also, check out this. It was written a while back but mentions Boeing's attempts to market the Super Hornet. Kuwait is purchasing about 20 but Malaysia opted for the Su-27.

Something to think about! Has anyone up north heard anything about Canada's replacement for their -A's & -B's? - Calvin

Lodni_K that first site was kinda cool, I sure hope that future doesn't come true. As for replacements for the current CF-18s I've not heard much but I do know our Government wants to put more into DND (Department of National Defense) funding. With all the political issues that are happening here in Canada, I'm not sure what will end up happening though.

Hey guys,

This sounds interesting but I don't know much about the GB thing - rules, updates, what happens if you don't finish within the deadline, etc.
Can you advise?

Jeffrey, thanks for the interest. The rules are really simple, the two things you must do are: 1 - make a subject pertaining to that build (in this case something Canadian) and 2 - have fun! If you finish before the deadline, great, and if you go over a little ways, who cares! Propeller [8-]

Updates, like progress pics, are highly encouraged but there are some who do not have digital capability so you do what you can.

The start and end date are just a guideline. Some guys start their builds close to the end, some near the beginning, it all depends on other commitments, that is why there is a long period (4 months+) to most GBs.

This one is shaping up to be pretty neat. I'm an Aircraft modeler but I thought to open it up to the other categories to get a wider variety of Canadian 'stuff'.Tongue [:P]Big Smile [:D]

I am in with a 1/48 CT114 Tutor from HHC. Although the kit has the Snowbird scheme, I will propably do a Red Knight. And given time, perhaps a 1/35 Twin Huey by Panda in Search and Rescue colour circa 1990. I look forward to many pictures from all.

yep i got mine and i am all ready for the gb. and i have my new place for my models to be built. only thing i havent got finished yet is my spray booth it still sits on the floor. i will have 4 gb going on this summer. and the road trip to the nats this year not entering anything but will be spending lots of $$$$$$$$ only bad thing about sept 1 is that it gives me only 9 days to build the cf-188 because ga's 2005/06 archery season kicks in that month and i will be out the door on the sept 10 at 4am. why s thier never engouh time in the year to do all yur hobbies?Big Smile [:D]

GA.modler, the build goes to December so if you don't finish, you could always come back to it after. I'll be starting my Beaufighter from RACF 404 (aka Canadian GB pre-build! ) next week. I'll be posting pics as I go.

Saw this one and couldn't resist - especially as my wife is Canadian and I am moving there next year! I've just come back to the UK from 7 weeks in BC actually. Party [party]

Anyways - I have a Hasegawa 1/48 CF-104 in my stash. I'll build that OOB for this GB. Big Smile [:D]

Hey Paul, I think I can speak for Jay and say welcome to the GB/Canada. Whicih part of BC were you in and is that where you are planning on moving to? Just moved to BC myself from Manitoba. The 104 is a great choice. Look forward to seeing it.

Hey Razordws, I was just outside Nelson, halfway between Nelson and Castlegar actually - got back last Sunday. Sad [:(] Wish I was still there - but I am stuck in England for a while yet. That is where I will be moving to as well - next Spring hopefully.

I will send a few photos as I go along, but they will be edited to not show just how much I have to learn! It's many years since I did this so for me it is a steep learning curve. Dunce [D)] I read the Techniques forums a lot to pick up tips so hopefully I will get better as I go along!!
