ummmm neither i think. Lacquers are lacquers. Enamels are oil based. but lacquers most definitely ARE NOT WATER BASED.

uuuuummmm, i think water will make it inpermeable afterward. in other words it wont be able to be thinned with even enamel or oil thinner. i know its true with water based paints washed with enamel thinner, not sure if its true in this case, but it very well may be.

progress: panzer three turret finishd, working on bunker itself now.

OK, operation BIG BIG project is underway.

I have decided to join the Ranks of the rivet counters on this project. A list of things I have ordered to follow:

Tamiya T-72
model point metal gun barrel
Karaya Modern Russian Tow cables
Model point Late type roadwheels (this is the rivet counter part. T-90's have wheels with 6 indentations, and the Tamiya kit has 8 indentations. I know I'm being anal.)
Friulmodel Tracks
Terre Models conversion
Eduard PE detail set

Furthermore I have succeeded in completely bankrupting myself.
Sad [:(]

ok, here are some progress pics of a dio I am doing for this GB and the Tank destroyer GB. The setting is 1945 Germany. The______ army group (I forget which) is ordered by Hitler to rescue Berlin by attacking the Russians in the west. The counter attack failed obviously. well here are some pics.

What do you guys think?

Hey great dio, I'm not such a great dio artist (YET!Evil [}:)]) as can never get any buildings or anything, I almost NEVER have any real money to spend like the rest of the guysAngry [:(!] also, nice JagdTiger, the rust could be improved thoughMy 2 cents [2c] I will try to post pics of my halftrack when its built up and stuff when I get the chance, problem is, my dad doesn't want me to sign up for photobucket or anything like that, so I'm going to have to figure out a way (maybe I can cut and paste the adress into my sig?!)

dad doesnt have to know about itWink [;)]

The build was actually free. I made it out of styrofoam and plaster.t The whole dio really only cost about $8 (for the Jagdtiger) I have had the figs awhile and I dont even know if I bought them. My sister said the same thing about the rust. Currently I am searching for a way to fix it.
I know how you feel, I have at the current time.....a total of............$7Black Eye [B)]Boohoo [BH] man I cant wait for payday!

tigertankman, are you a friend of nicks?

The T-90 build is going to be a beast. I don't know if anybody would be interested, but I though I might give step by step updates on the armour forum. What do you guys think?

First phase is scratchbuilding the driver's compartment.

But it will be a while before any of the stuff gets here, seeing as it comes from 4 different websites.

Great Dio! Im too use army men for figures. As for the orange t-55:

the tank does have a distinct orange tint to it.

as for money, well, I practically have none. I have $150, but that'll all be going to a compressor, at which point I'll have like $2.25

As for the T-55 paint and less glue could go a long way.

as far as the figs go, they will be painted, dont worryBig Smile [:D] They are not army men either, they are quite detailed actually. Unfortunatly they are more like 1/70 scale.

At least you have money saved up for something, I need a car in one month when I get my lisence, no money......

MISSIONMODELS!!!!! They have thrown a gigantic wrench into my project's works, by not having either the tow cables OR the conversion.

I was forced to switch over to an AEF designs conversion and I'm still missing the tow cables. And the conversion now has to come from czech republic, because that's where panzershop is located.

Ha Ha Tanky!!
As mfor the paint going a long way, i'm trying that with My BMP. One question on that: the instructions call for these grill things to be painted the smae color as the tank, but I want them to be a little draker so they stand out. If I paint them black first, then spray the whole thing with green, do you think any of the black will show through and give the grills a sense of depth?
As for the T-55, let me regale you with it's sad story. It was built a while ago as a normal kit. This was back when I knwe even less about model building than I know now. So, i stuck it together in about 8 hours, without flattening the tracks out first or anything. After that, I dicoverd that weathering makes tanks look more realistic. So, deciding it didn't matter that the kit was already finised and that I wasn't planning on coating it with anything, I took to the kit with great zeal and a little kid's pastel chalk coloring set. I set out with the brown pastels, rubbing them heavily on. unfortunately, on the tank they look rather orange. Next, I decided that weathering with a silver pencil was a good idea. so I started scribbling on the surface of the T-55 with a pencil. Now, in an effort tocontinue weathering, whenever I have any spare silver or steel paint on my brush, i simply wipe it off on my T-55.
