In WWII the people Hated Stalin and Most civilians were Jumping into the arms of the Germans Unitl the SS came through and they were murdered. The army was Communists, what would they have been, fascist..? If Stalin was not a commie, why was he insistant on making buffer zones to stop the democracies that he said were coming to invade the Communist Russia?

In russia You can have a phone and a computer BUT - For a phone in could take 20 years just to get one installed. Computer, who knows!

The people who want communism in places like russia have never reall y had freedom. When the Soviet Union Collapsed The russians had caos. There still is alot of that today. It will take a long time for Russia to see the free world.

Okay, Just to clarify my own position on this:
The Soviet Union was not a communism after lenin. under stalin it was a dictatorship, and after him it was a corrupt beureucracy. I happen to Like the Soviet Union because it was so idealistic, had a large army (which is definitely not communist) and it's citizens were so fiercely patriotic (some of them anyway) (and, patriotism is uncommunist, but i just wont go there)
I support Marxist-Leninist Philosophy. Obviously, though, a revolutionary communist state cannot be set up in one day, but takes many decades, and possibly centuries (Communism isn't old enough yet). to keep the people working, a Lenin-like NEP must be used to provide monetary incentive to the people. however, the main thing is to have the people in control, not any bosses. Over time more communist methods will be used.
Also, a major myth of Communism is the myth that no-one owns anything. This is not true. You own your house. You own your car. you own your computer, books, you name it. What you can't own are the means of production. and i'm not talking about a basement workbench here. It's factories, farms, television studios, and textile mills that you can't own. These must be owned by the community so that they can be used by the community for the good of the Community. Selling homemade lemonade is still just fine.

But anyway, I don't really want to go down that road. In model building, the Worker's spirit and someone singing the Soviet National Anthem really gets me psyched up! not to mention a few propaganda poster scattered liberally around.

No no scer, I love america too. Seriously. I won't ghet into the curent president though. Matt, as far as India goes very technically sopeaking they were a non-aligned country. In reality, they were the Soviet Union's biggest non Eastern Bloc ally. After 1962 when the Chinese invaded India, India developed very very strong economic and military ties with the soviet union. One example is this- the ONLY non warsaw pact country the MiG-27 was exported to was India. The MiG-29 was exported to all other countries as a downgraded variant. Only India and the USSR operated full fledged versions. Modern Russia has only developed one plane specifically for a customer, and that is the SU-30MKI (Guess what "I" stand for) Ok sorry for the history lesson guys... Anyway, back on topic, I started my build and it is going rather well. Pics to come.

I was saying that soviet patriotism isnt that good because they were enemies of the US for a long time, and the Soviet Union isnt a country anymore, its the CIS and Russia is now the Russian Federation. Patriotism is fine, I just think that if youre in the US, you should have American patriotism

like i was about to say before i thot i would get cut out, the system works, but only if it has the full support of the people, and is watched over heavily and maintained. that is why the commi's tried to make communism into the main religion of russia, to get the full support of the people. itd have to be like a religious group to have any effect really. only then would people care enough about their work that they would take pains to maintain the system.

ok, so thats the pure communist way it would work. i personally believe though, that given the human nature, a little capitalist ideas is necessary, like increase bonuses or raises, and a stimulation to keep things going, and to try to do better. thats really the only thing it would need. of course heavy popular participation is also very important, but then again, thats also vitally necessary to democracy too.

the reasons why communism has failed so badly is probably due to the secular and self-centered nature of modern society, which has taken over from the think and work with others for everyone ideals of previous centuries. when people are only out for themselves, then they can cause corruption and a breakdown of the workings of the system by criminal acts, stealing, bribery, etc. the other bit about the necessity of popular participation is another factor thats lead to the downfall of communism. not everybody can really participate in government, and frankly once it gets into nitty-gritty, really political stuff, the majority of people just dont give a sh!t. so, its left to relatively few individuals to take care of things, and thats where a single corrupt official can start gumming up the works through their manipulation of others in places of importance.

BTW- yea, i hate popups!!! course now we got a blocker too, so its all good. although we did just recently get some kinda weird virus that sends itself to people all over the globe when you get connected, but its mostly dead. our email provider must have put on a patch or something.

you say communism works, if that is true, how come almost all communits govs have collapsed. There is only, China, Romania, Vietnam, Cuba and north Korea that are still communist. Romania is democratically elected gov and China is everything democratic except political ideas. These two countries will soon be democracies.
In a communist country, you have more moeny than you can spend. their is nothing to buy becaus nobody is allowed to make anything. Everybody is payed no matter what, so now body really works. In fact, Russia today is still running on bribes. you cant buy a train ticket from the gov, you have to buy it at a higher price from the train workers. Long story short, Communism will fail.

the fascination i hold for the Soviets lies mostly in some of their humorously serious moments and such, er whatever. you can tell from some of the stuff i wrote.

personally, communism is a simply a style of government. it worked, but only if it was maintained by an honest and efficient system. stalin made it close to what hitler's nazism was, and the latter days of the soviet state saw rampent corruption and economic problems. it was a system of government that worked, its just that....

rather than have bloody revolutions every year or every ten years, america holds that every 4 years, we get to redecide the government peacefully. generally, the majority is happy with the result, and if not, then we have only four more years to wait to change it to something else. thats the real power of democracy

No offense taken here- I'm just saying, the Soviets had their ideaology, we had ours. I personally am more in lign with Marxism, but that;s just me.
