dem is purty!
Your smoke looks a little like cotton, gringe, but I suppose theirs no way to avoid that.
Ok, possibly my last question in this thread (Sigh [sigh]Boohoo [BH]), but if i plan to paint something that was molded in black a color like steel, I should probably prime it some lighter color (like white), right?

Sergie I would prime it.

Gringe, I Think the steam is perfect. Only suggestions would be to add some muzzleflash to the cannons that are firing (I can supply a pic if youd like). Another one, kinda late since you already finished, but the top of the moniters turret was wood, as was the top of the Virginia.

I'll have pics up in a few minutes.

oh, btw, the 155 is an excellent brush, but wait until you try the hp-bcs from iwata. now that is the king of all siphon feeds and quite possibly the finest brush around.

reb- its possible to change the turret of the monitor as i left it unglued, so i can work wit it. im also goin to try the muzzlelash idea. considering the problems with paint, i ll probably try magic marker. as for the virginia, the thought that her top was wodden did cross my mind, but as i have no sources, and the model i got gave no planking like the rest of the wodden deck, i just left it iron. hell, i even found an artist who thought that the whole of the decking was also iron

as for the smoke, i still dont get the problem, but then again, maybe its my perspective, all i ask is to go look at some good drawings (modern) of the engagement, and youll see what the smoke resembles. to me, it looks like cotton

WelCOME BaCK! DAN you, Tanky, you and your ...err...beaches.Sign - Dots [#dots]

Well. I've purchased a number of colors, including the color that is exactly not the color of an AK-74 magazine and a color that is almost, but not quite, exactly dissimilar to soviet uniform colors. Disapprove [V]Banged Head [banghead]Blindfold [X-)]Sigh [sigh]

Well, I'm of to many other places, one of them being my basement to prime those tracks. Sadly, theure just as hard to put together as the previous ones (as they also do not bend), but they are much more detailed.Dead [xx(]Black Eye [B)]

ya, theres really no real proof of the 2. Im not sure if the moniter has a pic, but the virginia had one taken during construction. The only thing we could really do is look at their brothers who came later. Its not really a biggie in my point of view.

Dont worry about the cotton, I looks great.

I am currently uploading mys pics and will probaly begin the contest thread tommorow or later today.

YG 3 GB date, seeing how it takes us so long to finish stuff, possible, start in sept and end in march?

WOw....Those are....Good. Really good. I only have to say that that one house doesn't really look like a house, but It's sure al hell better than anything I coulkd Do. My houses are made out of legos.
Well, Ive had my first encounter with resin wheels. sanding down the casting stubs was actually a fun and rewarding expericence. the main drive wheels were another story. the stub went way down into the spaces between the two halves of the wheel and, for lack of a better tool, i used a swiss army knike to wedge the stub in half, not a very smart move, for I also managed to wedge the rest of the piece in half also. Not a problem, though, for I have discovered the miracle that is Super glue! God's final prophet, the inventor of superglue, was killed by a combination of food poioning and cancer so that we couuld have this miraculous substance at our disposal! It's such a reilef from using plastic cement, where I have to hold the two pieces together for ten minutes, only to have them droop out of alignment when I let go. No, this stuff binds tight!
In addition, I have primed the tracks with white, achieveing a shade of dark gray where there previosly was black. I ran out of white paint halfway through, So I had to thin down the dregs into oblivion.
I am also about to go into painting some 1/35 soviet soldiers for my BMP. I am guided in this endeavour by a wonderful book which informs me of the inadequacies of my current tools. In one picture they have 23 brushes in a jar. I, on the other hand, posess a grand total of...8. Plus their variety of saws, clamp, pincers, tweezers, magnifying glasses and the like puts me to shame. I also got a reference boook on Warsaw Pact ground forces, which provides intimate details of the warsaw pact organization. For instance, did you know that squads generally consisted of 7-10 men, with 2 light machine gunners and 1 RPG operator? Neither did I ! I've been looking all over the internet for this kind of stuff, but only now Have I found it! This is probably one of the best Books EVER! (i am slightly biased, as you may guess, but it is a very good book).

sounds like a good time sergie, a good book and so AM, and superglue mmmm.

Like 5 minutes ago I was listening to du hast and my my heard it and said, "ooooh I like this song!" I was dumbfounded. WTF is going on, my mom like du hast lol, this is great.
anyways, thanks for the comments guys. I agree with you sergie, the building looks like crap, which is why I was surprized that it go 1st place, over this

ginge, the wear was done by first painting the vehicle panzer grey (as they arrived in africa) then I used the salt technique and for the larger stuff I used rubber cement. Painted Dark yellow, and removed the salt and rubber cement. While removeing the salt with a toothpick I scratched the surface of the yellow paint. It looked like a perfect scratch, so i made some more, and eventually got WAY over carried and had a scratch everywhere on the vehicleDisapprove [V] ohwell, live and learn.

sergei, whats up here?? we're suddenly into writing long responses in good english, with little or no mention of the communist revolution at all?!?? you must be on sedatives man, you seem layed out in that last response

hey, happy birthday nick!! sorry im a day late, is there any cake left?Wink [;)]

since each of our badges has included some miscreant of destruction (ironic don't ya think?) why don't we use calvin from calvin and hobbes next time?

i think the most important thing about the GB tanky is that (if the forum grows by a couple young guns each year) it will continue on, like a tradition among the young people for long after weve hit the adult lanes. its our legacy

(BTW- if that sounded immensely corny, believe me........it was entirely intentionalTongue [:P])

ya were doing the contest. Last time I ended up going through all of the pages, and it took forever, so just repost them please.

Calvin would be good, either him or dennis the menace.
didnt sound corny grine, our legacy! And proud of it. Wonder who will take my place as the runner ???
