Ok, time to show a little progress. Got the pit done on my Hasegawa 1/48 Bf-109E-4 Trop. A combination of kit & True Details resin parts. Not as nice as the Ultracast resin or Eduard PE, but I had the TD set in my stash & the modeling budget is getting a little stressed right now.

The RLM02 has a slightly more green hue than the pics show, but I didn't spend a lot of time on correcting color balance.

Regards, Rick

Rick - very clean looking! I like the look, honestly some of the PE sets are a bit TOO busy but this one adds enough without clutter...

can't wait to see more!!

oh will post a pic of Rudy tomorrow... spent the night chasing him around the house trying to wear him down.. he was exceedingly hyper for some reason.. even AFTER 2 hrs of running in the yard, I thought we had enough room.. maybe we need to expand to 3 acres to give him room enough haha......

it's funny, I heard growling outside my door, heard him yelp then run in the kitchen... thought one of the other dogs got too rough.. went out to investigate and evidently he bit himself or something like that... he was chasing his tail when I came out of the modeling room and the other 2 were asleep haha... I wonder what he did to himself that he had to yelp... (and why was he growling at himself???) a strange dog at best... Wink [;)]

Thanks Tom. Most of it can't be seen on the finished model, so I sometimes wonder if the cost & effort are really worth it when detailing pits.

Rudy sounds like a real free spirit. Post some pics when you can.

Tom Thanks for the kind words. I do a similar thing with my AB most of the time. Just pull the needle back a bit and you don't have to worry about adjusting the paint flow. But for freehand camo, I like to use it as a double action, it just works better for me that way. Give the freehand a go, I'm sure you're capable of it.

Rick Your cockpit looks very nice. Very clean paint job, and the detail is great.

Thanks Daniel. The pit is now in the fuselage, fuselage halves are joined & the wing is assembled. Have to do a little seam clean up & then join the wing to fuselage. Should move along pretty quick.

Wow Rick the cockpit on your 109 looks great. Well done on a really nice paint and detailing job there.
I hear what you're saying about the old modeling budget, mine is in a bit of a recession at the moment.

Cheers

Jules can't wait!! As for myself I got nothing done for this build.

I did respray the primer on the P-47 for the NA build (I sanded it with 2000 grit to get out a blemish) and couldn't find my Gloss Black (I think I picked up a flat black that was in the gloss bin last weekend) so I decided "hmm... gunmental is a glossy bluish black and if it doesnt work I can always use this kit for practice since I have another copy of it"

It came out the most interesting dark grey with a hint of blue...... in fact I am thinking of the next night fighter I do, using gunmetal plus a bit of black to darken it more. I'll take a pic of the color once it has dried enough to handle.

I know it's off topic but it could fit into a lot of GB's if it works out right!!!

Jules Thanks mate. I'm looking forward to seeing some pics ttoo.

Tom Thanks for the tip, I'm interested to see how it comes out. And, doesn't matter about off topic around here. We spend more time off topic than on it seems. Especially if a certain "big-boned" nurse is mentioned..........

Progress Pics

Here i was worried about TOM and his Martlett/Wildcat obsession and i've just taken a good look at my bench and realised that i may have a problem with 109 obsession[:0]
The NA 109 is the one with RLM 78 undersides
Thumbs Up [tup]

I have done all the uppersurface colours on the G2 R1 Trop so if i can get this stupid digi camera working i'll post up a pic of where it's at now[tup
Incidentaly the 109 with the RLM 79 undersides is Hahn's Assi Hahn's red nosed F/4 and i know it's OFF TOPIC but i might as well show you fellas where i'm up to with that oneWink [;)]

BTW sorry about the crappy pic qualityDead [xx(]i really need to get a decent digital cameraDisapprove [V]

Look great Jules!!! question: how did you mask that straight of a line on that intake on the fuselage side of the last set of pics... a compound curve isn't the easiest to mask!!

BTW: did I hear someone mention Kremps??? Whistling [:-^]

Nice job on your 109s Jules. Now if only queensland could produce as many good footy players as you do 109s, you'd just about fill up NSW's bench........

I'm starting to get an obsession too mate. I can't stop building Focke-wulf 190s. It's not that it's my favourite aircraft, I just love trying those funky camo scheme. I haven't even finished the one I'm working on, and I'm already eyeing off the next camo scheme I want to do........Ah well, could be worse....they could be painted maroon.Tongue [:P]

oh yeah ---- here is the pic of the P-47 with gunmetal primer... it actually looks a bit more bluish black in real life but I couldn't get the pic to transform just right... a bit more black and I think it would work good for a nightfighter scheme... as it is it has a bit of depth to it which I like, it doesn't look so monotone!

Hi all, I saw this on Hyperscale (oops am I allowed to say that) this morning and thought it might be useful for anyone doing a Commonwealth AFV with a Caunter Scheme paint job.

Darren, no you are not allowed to mention Hyperscale ( I refer to it as Hyperwail ) on this Forum. The FSM Police may be at your door any moment Smile [:)]. A very cool scheme BTW, but Xtracolor paints are near impossible to find around here.

Tom Yeah mate Old "Kremps" has been a real help to my modeling skills, although she has a tendency to be a little rough with the kits what with those dangerous thighs of hers........
BTW i like that colour and you right it would be a good colour for a nightfighter........
