Pingy Bizarrely enough Gunze H79, Sandgelb, equates to RLM 79, the lighter version.

Or should that be 79 Light, the lighter way to enjoy luftwaffe camo?

I used the H66 a while back on a Kubelwagen, and it is way too dark!!!

No progress on the MS406 this week, and no pictures either.

Matt I can't be sure so you may want to check with Rick but from what i can tell the most noticable differance is the canopy, the F has the same canopy as the E but the G has a differant canopy with a larger strut in the middle......
Y'Know "Marsielle" flew a G in the desert as well as an F, both carried the yellow 14........

Thanks for the info, I saw the canopy differences about two hours after i had shot the paint onto it. Oh well, guess that it will have to be the G then. Just didnt want to model the last type of 109 that he flew. Although how many times do you see a display that reads " This is the aircraft that finally got the better of Marsielle"!!

progress pics

here are a few pics of my 109 as it gets all done up for Marsielle

So far i have enjoyed this kit a ton. I think that it is a re-release of a hasegawa kit by Revell-Germany, superior in almost every way to the Fw190 kit that i built a few months ago.

Hopefully I'll get to finish it this weekend since it is a long one for me!!! Cool [8D]

Looks fabulous Matt! I'll have to look for that kit. I have built a few Revell DE kits and am MUCH happier with their quality than Revell US.. the Ju88 is a fun kit to build too...

Tweets - Kremps saves money so she can spend it on Jules and I!! How do you think I came by all these ultracast bits lately, and the Iwata I am getting?

I have a kinda strange feeling that it suits the ICM kit more than the Hase, seeing as CMK's other stuff is made for the ICM kit.

Tweety Mate i think the only problem you would have are the 2 parts that make up the intake under the engine, that big chunk of plastic that the intake sticks on to will have to be completely removed........Does the resin engine come with the mountsQuestion [?]

Yeah kinda ironic eh Matt all those combat missions, 150 plus kills and he's brought down by engine failureDead [xx(] same as Molders 100 kills countless missions and he dies flying to Ernst Udets funeral, and the other guy too Barkhorn, over 300 kills and he dies in a car accident 10 years later......
BTW great job on the 109Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup] It's gonna look sweet when it's finishedBig Smile [:D]

Tom don't go buying a 109 G mate, i have the Hasegawa G6 here thats earmarked for Texas

Jules - thanks a lot pardner (thats Texas talk ya know haha) but dont go paying a lot for shipping... BTW: I want to try shipping a model to one of you as well... if there is ever a "must have" one of you folks from the dark side of the planet need I hate to see you pay those great models or squadron.com rates for overseas shipping.... at least let me weigh one and calculate shipping on the USPS website....

3 bottles of Future made it there for not a lot of money... (about 11 pounds weight total)

a simple model should be a LOT less!!!! yall can repay me by buying Kremps a ticket to see me once again... oh yeah.. and asking her to shave her back before she leaves... Wink [;)]

it is just the standard finish - with one exception, it appears that the area for the 14 on the left side was freshly repainted before the numeral were applied. The thing that i liked about the solid finish was the chance to work on producing that "sunbleached" look to the upper surfaces.

Interesting...............

With darker colours, ya just lighten up a tad, and it's done.

BUT with lighter colours, like the sand, I reckon it would be a little harder to lighten without making it look 'chalky'

I have never tried on a lighter colour, too scared of stuffing the whole finish to be honestDisapprove [V]

I've heard a good way to lighten colours without making them chalky is to use Tamiya XF-15 flat flesh (or a similar colour). Makes sense I suppose, I haven't tried it yet, but the fella at Tamiya model mag reckons it works (Am I allowed to say that name on the finescale forum Question [?]Big Smile [:D]).

All that I did actually was add a bit of white to the paint and spray it very faintly on the bird from the top down, avoiding the panel lines and the extreme bottom of the fusalage. First time trying to bleach the paint at all, think that i like the results!!!

Q - does anyone know the number of Marsielle's wingman, am thinking about making another 109 trop and would like to make his wingman!!

Tom i was just kidding mate, The Flower is an expensive and rather huge model, the box is about the same size as the revell 1/72 U-boat, the cheapest price i've come across here is $130:00AU.......
But if you really want to send something how about a 1/1 1995 CorvetteWink [;)]

Matt Mate i wouldn't have a clue who his wingman was, I'll see what i have in my books............

Jules - would you settle for a 1:1 corvette model made of taoilet paper rolls and coated with toilet paper mache? Wink [;)]

I might have to send Tweets something like that, I've had deliveries to both Darren and Jules house but not his yet.. I'll put the sender as "Edna Kremps" Evil [}:)] I think his missus would want to know about that!!

hmmm... ever built the 1/72 S-100 Schnellboot Jules? next 50% off sale I will have to try to pick you one up... about 365 pieces and finished it measures about 89cm long...

And no mate i havn't built the Schnellboot yet but i would love to get my hands on it, i have a great documentary on the S boats here, If you can get your hands on it then i'd be pretty interested just let me know how much it costsThumbs Up [tup]

Matt I had a look for ya but all i could find was a painting of yellow 14 and an identical 109 coded as yellow 7........

Jules - if I can catch it for the 50% off sale I can get it for ya about $11 US. no kidding! the kit is only about $25 US normally and is an exquisite kit!!! you say you have a documentary on them? who makes it? I found moderate research on paint colors and such when I built my first one...

---edit---

oh yeah it's about 50cm built, I was a bit ambitious with my measurements in my head... went out and measured it today... (the one I built awhile back)

ok ran across an interesting site... it's the allied order of battle for the invasion at Casablanca... I might do my Martlet as a Wilcat this time to be different. SBD's, TBF's, SBD's and P-40's also all flew for the US in the attack.. (USS Santee is on the battle order with her SBD's)

It also lists all ships involved in case a ship person browses through here... also tanks etc...

http://www.navweaps.com/index_oob/OOB_WWII_Mediterranean/OOB_WWII_Casablanca.htm

just thought I would throw it in...
