dday- to aswer your question-
Yes, there were
Pz II's in dark grey in Africa. But they didnt stay like that for long, the crew usually covered them in mud wich dried and became a crued "paint" job. I believe most, if not all dark gray vehicles had red numbers outlined in white.

stipp, looks good! Does that kit happen to come with an engine?

Hey guys

This is mainly aimed at the figure modeling buffs. I started with my 1/16 Rommel a few days back, and I would just like to get some feedback on my progress.

Keep in mind that this is my first stab at figure modeling, so please don't hold back the constructive criticism.

Here's what I did so far:

Primed with flat grey, two coats of MM Light Skin, followed by 50/50 MM Warm Skin/Thinner wash. I then painted some Tamiya Red Brown in the recesses and blended it with thinner.

TIA
Quintin

Bugger me.....Gone for a day and you go and fill up a page. All this talk of scepters and some actual modeling going on (Good work stippThumbs Up [tup]).

And Jules, if you play with that sceptre of yours too much, you might go blind......Tongue [:P]

Daniel - he has it carefully planned out... he's only going to do it until he needs glasses... smart guy, that Jules!

Qp - not a figure modeler but it looks good! even has that sun exposed look you would expect being out in the desert and all!

Tanker - welcome aboard!!!

Rick - I too must congratulate you on almost an entire group build without letting us drag you down to our level... but now that you are here... welcome!!! Wink [;)]

Jules - somehow I don't quite see that in the Arthurian sense.. First Kremps jumping in the lake would immediately empty it of all water and flood the surrounding area.. and the idea of Kremps floating around under water waiting to thrust that sceptre up at me gives me a case of the shivers! It's bad enough I have nightmares of her, might less chancing her flinging something sharp at me while I casually pass by.

And it's a wonder greenpeace didn't come along and try to push her back in the water. They're always looking for beached whales nurses to help.

Hi guys, I'm still in transition to the new place but I'm settled down for the moment and might actually get some modeling done between looking for houses.

Jules, I picked up an Academy 1/72 early p-51 mustang (the North Africa issue) on my way out to BC in Calgary. Just didn't think I'd have room for that 1/32 Bf 109 in my current living quarters.

wow, a fellow hops down to the barber shop to get his hair cut and comes back to all this!

Sadly the hair fell out of my paint brush... old age I guess... I've been thinking of getting it some of those implants but I dunno, they kinda look obvious. Oh yeah, I call him "Billy" ...

well I got the lower wings glued on the Stuka... cowling is all put together except for the prop so I whould be able to have a go at painting tonight... just gotta glue the upper wings surfaces on and BAM!!!

Ok there I talked about modeling too...

I got my Me-109 together. I added a bit of detail to the Revell kit I'm using. I plan on painting it as a plane that has just arrived in theatre, before it gets unit markings.

Tanky is getting all puffed up again and ready to try to smack us down...

"There won't be a tomorrow for those of you who don't work" is the loose translation of it...

Tanky - No tengo miedo, porque yo tengo "Kremps" por mí lado... la jefa ¡está! ¡Témala! La que puede romper bolas de billar con sus piernas....

(translation - I'm not afraid, because Kremps is by my side.. the boss lady is here! <roughly, "in the house"> Fear her! She who breaks billiard balls with her legs!)

Honest Tweets... thats what he said... Angry [:(!]

(sticking to English for the common good and understanding of the group)

----edit----

but thats pretty good Spanish Tanky... stick around a little bit and I might even teach you the dirty words! (like the translation of muddy, filthy etc...)

This GB is getting totally out of control. I am shocked by all of the foolishness when we should be doing serious modeling. Sorry for the Rant, but I had to get that off my chest.

Now if I can get Kremps off my lap I'm going to do some serious modeling.

Regards, Rick

Hey guys!

I am proud to announce the face of my first ever figure model is finished!
Agreed, it's not the best I've seen, but practise makes perfect.

Cheers!
