                        ok I just got back from the LHS and it was very hard to resist temptation... they had a LOT of NA related kits there, SA 79's, a Martlett III in 1/72 (was tempted but I prefer 1/48), Ci 319 I believe it was... it was ugly, but lovable all the same.

                        I picked up a few colors I had been needing so as soon as I finish the Ju87 (80% done) I am attacking the Martlet and maybe the quad tractor.. it's been a LOOOONG time since I attempted any armor!

                        Also got some BMF and am going to try Tweets method of masking on the canopy. Although it doesn't look that much harder than a SBD.

                        I painted the base coat of MM Light Tan and left it for 48 hours before adding the rest. So, all in all, about four days.

                        According to achtungpanzer.com, the Stug IVs were not made until December 1943. "In December of 1943, Stug IV was introduced, it was essentially a slightly modified Stug III superstructure (such as extended driver's compartment) mounted on Panzer IV chassis. "

                        For those who still need a model, Dragon is soon coming out with a 3 in 1 Pz I, with one of the variants being an African one.

                        well if this don't beat all... I am all ready to paint the underside of my Ju87... the directions call for Hellblau... I thought that sounded strange but didn't think about it... I get ready to paint and look at the color and I knew it had to be wrong.. Hellblau is actually closer to the RAF sky... this is a N>A> stuka with a light blue bottom... oh well back to the hobby shop... I almost picked a bottle up today too... thought I might need it one day...

                        Tom, my bf-109 is supposed to be hellblau also. The color looks fine to me. A bit more blue than lichtblau. RLM 65, right?

                        Tanky - yeah... but if you have the splinter camo on top thats the right color for it. the lichtblau RLM 76 is more common in the desert schemes...

                        Tom, if you are going to portray the Stuka as repainted in desert color scheme, use RLM 78, not 76.

                        ahhh thanks Rick! I guess I should have asked you in the first place... the RLM 65 Hellblau looks more like sky or duck egg green than blue... what a dissapointing evening...

                        on a side note I did decide to break out the dark earth and freehand camo my Typhoon for the Aussie build... it's not bad but I can't wait for my gravity fed to come in!!!

                        Tanky, The standard Luftwaffe desert scheme was RLM 79/80 over RLM 78. Any aircraft repainted in desert scheme would most likely use those colors. But like a lot of war time rules, there were many exceptions. Many of the aircraft were transferred from the European theater and would be in either RLM 71/02/65 or RLM 74/75/76 schemes. Most of these were repainted, but many retained at least a portion of their original paint. So you could have aircraft with RLM 65 or 76 alongside aircraft with RLM 78 undersides. Just to make things even more fun, paint shortages often led the Luftwaffe to borrow Italian paint, so some aircraft had top sides in Italian Sand Yellow rather than RLM 79 & undersurfaces in Italian light grey. If you have a reference for your 109, use it. If not, the RLM 79/80/78 is the safest bet.

                        Tanky I used RLM 78 on my 109. From the photos of the aircraft I'm doing, it looks to be accurate. And since you,re doing pretty much the same aircraft as me, I think RLM 78 underside and fuselage sides, RLM 79 uppers (the yellow version, not brown) and RLM 80 spots. Looks right to me anyway.

                        Why is it when ever I read any of these "color should be" posts I instantly panic and head for my color references to triple check everything is ok. Well I have now been recalled from DEFCON 2 after I checked that the colors for my 109 are indeed RLM 79/80 over RLM 78. But thanks anyway Rick.
                        I've got to stop second guessing myself Tongue [:P]

                        Jules the GB badges seem to have disappeared from page one of the build.

                        Darren I know the feeling... it's especially bad when the color call out says to use the wrong color... and then the NEXT one is closer but still wrong!!! I just knew something was odd about those RLM numbers!!! So tomorrow I go to get my RLM 78.

                        Today my wife and I went to a reenactment of the Battle of San Jacinto. It is the battle where Texas earned its independence from Mexico. about 900 Texians as they were called, defeated about 3000 Mexican troops in less than 20 minutes. The Texans lost 9, the Mexican Army lost near 630 troops dead, 208 wounded and 730 captured...

                        I know it is off topic but here is an account: something we Texans are very proud of... a bunch of farmers, businessmen and land owners defeating the army of a mighty nation at the time...
