Jules Why not call it the 'happy acres group build'. Most of the usual suspects reside there, and you can build all the kits that Kremps confiscated off you earlier. They have now been liberated and are free to be built......(that's the official reason for all those kits not being built yet anyway).

Unfortunately, my kit collection is not big enough yet to hold that kit that I've always wanted to build, but haven't gotten round to it. So I'll go with that kit I see every time I go the the LHS, mean to buy it, but never do. In my case it is a Hasegawa A-4 skyhawk. About 5 times I've come within a poofteenth of buying that thing, but haven't yet. This will be my excuse....

hmmmmm.... the Monogram B-36 ... done in Alclad2... how long is this US GB going to last??? (Will take me a month just to paint that)

I'll have to start thinking... of course that 1/24 P-26 would sure look nice hanging from the ceiling.... all green and yellow and all...

Hey guys ... haven't been in in ages!! But good to see this one off the blocks!!

As mentioned, I have a hankering to to a Classic Airframes Macchi C.200 Saetta - flying out of Sicily (does this fall into North African GB territory??)

Failing that, I would join Tom with ProModeller Ju87.

Let me know which one is approved.

Hey Paul! Welcome aboard! Good to see another of the "Usual Suspects" back in the mix!!! Dunno about the allowability of the C.200 but something about it just stirred in me... I visited Sicily several times and the Navy base is at the site of one of the airfields from back then... I might have to do one of those one of these days for memories sake...

I have just completed my 1 hour stint in the apint room. All those little Olive green spots took a long time to spray freehand. Yesterday, I sprayed the white for the NA band, then masked that off and sprayed the thing with RLM 78. This morning, I free-handed the RLM 79 to get a nice feathered edge on the fuselage and ring roots. Now I'm done with the spots. I'll have to go back and do some touch-up with RLM 79 later on. When I've done that, I might post some pics of it......

I have a 1/32 bf109 g-4/trop that i would like to enter in this build. I would be painting is as yellow 14 from 1/JG27 piloted by Hans-Joachim Marseille. Also possibly a B-24D that flew from North Africa to bomb polesti on that first fatefull mission.

Cant wait to see the builds from this one!!

Here's some progress pics of my 109E. I'm not 100% happy with the spots, but they'll do. I'll give it a gloss coat tomorrow so it'll be ready for decals.

hope you like it so far.

Jules Those spots are a bit of a bitch to paint on. I ended up with a pretty sore wrist after it was done.

Pingtang - very nice camo on your emil, that is one of my favorite pics from WWII!!

To all - thanks for the welcome, it will be probably the end of this month before i can pic up my 109 but that will give me time to finish my research. I read an article in an "Eyewitness to War" mag about Marsielle that sparked my interest.

Jules! Where did you get that shot at!! I'll have to tell Kremps I saw her old bird!!! Hmmm tempted to get out the Testors decal set and do one just like that....

Put me down for that Martlet Jules and put the Stuka as a possible... I forgot I had that Martlet until Darren mentioned it the other day.... I feel the call. Now I just need to order those ultracast pieces and I'll be set!!!

Thanks for the pic!!! It'll warm Kremps heart seeing that plane again... Ig you look real hard at the nose you see "Tweety III" on there along with some unmentionable noseart of a half naked man... wonder what that is about???

nice work pingy!!! I'm doing the exact same scheme you are, so can you tell me how you sprayed it? The mottles and everything. I was going to reverse-mask it using blobs of blue tac putty, because I am morbidly afraid of free handing.

Thanks Rick, Jules, Matt and Tanky;

Jules Yeah, I did it all in one go. The tip drying wasn't a problem, I just touched the tip with a cloth soaked in laquer thinner every few minutes. And if it ever got clogged, I'd just give it a blast at full pressure. BTW...Love that Martlet, I might have to build it one day (time for another Tamiya kit me thinks).Thumbs Up [tup]

Tanky I had a go at freehand on this one. I sprayed the light blue first, then I freehanded in the desert yellow. I did that to get a nice feathered edge on the fuselage, and because I was too lazy to mask it. Then I free-handed the spots. Did a bit of practice on a box, then got going on the wings. I tried to keep it as random as I could.

Jules - this is the one I had my eye on, but I really honestly am thinking about making the Black K pictured above Wink [;)] it's the one in the middle obviously... similar but the light grey goes farther up the fuselage...

hmmmm... just noticed the one in my pic already has a black K... would just be a matter of printing out the Kremps fuselage code... or at the least printing her name as the pilot for the fuselage beneath the canopy...

Daniel - nice job on that camo!!! I still haven't tried my hand at the freehand camo on the Typhoon yet... somehow I lost the box with the remaining parts to it so for now it is on indefinite hold till I find the pieces or buy another...

Jules - thanks for the pic!!! It's amazing she had a thing for Sean even back then! That's way before he came to Happy Acres ... hmmm do you sense something? Like his ending up there was no mistake? I was wondering how he transferred of a maximum security prison only to end up at a convalescance home like that.. He was in for asaulting roo's.... 12 to life from what I understand...

I just ordered my seats and some other bits so should be ready to go!!!

---edit---

oh yeah... found out Cutting edge makes the seats for the MArtlet with the sutton harness.. a little more realistic!!! Cool!!! a Martlet Mk.III would have definitely had the suttons by then.. the one I built for the BoB would have had US seats and harnesses...

My paints should be arriving soon. I have my cutting edge cockpit, but due to some AB mishaps, my previous builds have been delayed. Can't get started for a while yet.

Exactly Rick!!! I would think it a fitting tribute to our mascot!!! Besides maybe it will earn me some brownie points and she'll make me some of that chocolate moose surprise!!! (that's right MOOSE... not mousse...) She is a regular moose hunter and has a freezer full of the stuff!!!

I'll be doing Tweety III just like in Jules' pic! Wink [;)]

Jules I'll swap ya the 219 detail set for the 1941 swimsuit issue of 'Kremps, the beach days' if ya have it.
I've got the '42 edition, the one where she shaved her back, but I kinda like the 'ala natural' version.
Whatcha reckon?

well I made a LOT of progress on my P-47 tonight... (ok diff group build but it clears the way for this one) ... tomorrow is primer then Sun Alclad then maybe 2 or 3 days for the frilly exterior bits... the only thing kinda dissapointing is the canopy... after countless Dauntless, Martlet, Ju-88 etc... canopies, I am facing the UNdaunting task of masking a P-47 Bubbletop..

I was really starting to enjoy masking canopies, the more difficult the mosre satisfying.. oh well... maybe I will build that Ju-87 for this after all... just to make up for it...

hmmm... just noticed that C200 flew out of Catania... I spent a long weekend there once (for real, not a Kremps story) might have to do one of those one day... Sicily was one of my favorite port of calls... beautiful women, delicious food and wine that made you dream "happy dreams"... ahhh to be 24 and in Sicily again... well... no... I wouldnt want to return to 24.... but Sicily yes...
