Yes twenty days to kick off...I am in on the Out of the Box build...1/48 Testors Me-163. I think I should be able to finish that one off in plenty of time, I really want to nail this MiG and want no other distractions...

I am not sure if I am going to knock off the raised detail on my KP MiG19 and rescribe...going to depend on my dryfit...I may be using the entire time span up for this build...Looked at the PE fret the other day and muttered out loud " What the $%^# did I get into here..." Could be a Pig's Breakfast...

I took a look at my BI-1 yesterday, and was able to dry fit most of the major parts together. All the reviews were right- nothing fits with any degree of accuracy at all. I got the wings glued on (jumping the gun a bit, I know), but actually achieved better fit after the locating tabs were sliced off. The fuselage halves need a bit more sanding still.

The rear tailplane is one piece, which "slides" into a slot in the rear of the AC. It's supposed to, anyway. It stuck out too far, and once I gouged out the slot enough to make it fit, huge gaps are apparent everywhere. I see much putty and superglue going into this area.

The good news is that once the major components are together, everything else is just little bits that glue to the outside of it- no more major plastic surgery (knock on wood).

Despite the problems I like the kit so far. A rare subject, and a nice little (4") kit to fill the shelf. I could have fun with this one! Big Smile [:D]

Calvin,
As long as you have adobe reader on your computer - or can download it (it's free) then you should be good to go. I'll see about getting it scanned today or tomorrow and shoot it off to you!!

Calvin,
I have that kit but it might take me a while to scan the instructions. If they are in a .pdf format will that work? I might be able to do it on Friday and then email them to you if that is ok.

Not much going on here until the 21st of next month. I am currently doing my pre-invasion planning on a couple of F-4 Phantoms for the ARC forum GB. The Mig will come along in due time. Dos Vedanya, Tavarish

Believe it or not I know absolutely nothing about Migs! So, sorry, I'm no help there.

Anyway, I'm looking at the BI-1, and I see it has two options for the landing gear, wheels or skis. And I have no idea what I want to use! Honestly, I don't care. So, which should I use? Smile [:)]

Ordered some KM-1 seats (and about $150 worth of other stuff![:0]) from Squadron today. Anyone know if there was any company that made Mig-31 or even Mig-25 detail parts? Also, any ideas as to what kind of seats the Tu-22 had? I seen a book in the Squadron catalog on the Tu-22 that I'll probably end up getting b4 the start of the Build!Big Smile [:D] :-p Calvinkov

OK, just seen that Roll Models has a bunch of stuff for my Migs! But I'll have to wait till next month to do my shopping there!Tongue [:P]

I have. pretty darn good. As far as the MiG-3 the 1/48 versions aren't made by mainstream companies and are hard to come by. (even though some of them are quite good.)

I'm just posting here to get this back on page one. no real progress with the kit-finding activties. I'm leaning towards a MiG-3. any recomendations, suggestions, or reviews you might have would be helpful.

And just too keep things moving: has anyone seen the new star wars yet?

That's okay john. We can have an Mi-24 pick you up every morning. What time?
Say, that would be a neat way to pick up chicks. Just pull up...er, down in an Mi-24("need a lift?") Either that or a SCUD truck!!

Hmm, get the Mafya involved, eh, Sergei? That'll show up those capitalist draconians. While you're at it, can you hook me up as well? I need some way to get to uni cheaper than public transport...Wink [;)]

well, the house unpacking is going alright (seems endless). I have the tables set up in my "den" (office, hobby room, whatever you prefer), and a spray hood on order from MicroMark so I don't need to treck to the garage on the other end of the house. I have the 2 Flogger kits (-23 and -27) out, I just haven't unearthed the rest of my gear yet to actually start work. Just as well, if I started modelling right now, I'd probably never unpack the rest of the house!!

But soon I'll be business - and I have a new faster compter, DSL, and a photobucket account ready for pics
