                        My Russian is very poor now. When I first joined the Air Force in 1963, they sent me to Syracuse University for Russian Linguist training for 9 months. 10-12 hours per day Mon-Fri and some on Saturday. I came out of that with about a 5,000 word vocabulary, read, write and speak. We were supposed to be able to eavesdrop on Russian military radio transmissions and do instantaneous/simultaneous translation. I haven't used that S _ _ _ for over 40 years, so I have forgotten most of it. Most of what I remember would be considered X-rated or very offensive in polite society at least. Sergei, the two phrases you asked about are "Very Good" and "See you tomorrow".

                        My limited digging about the internet showed that as the currend Russian Federation air defense emblem. Was it the same "back in the USSR?" I was looking for something along the lines of this:


                        Thought I'm coming to learn that these style were for the Army, and the Air Defense guys were a different branch...

                        I might have to make something work with this one, even though it's more recent than I was looking for

                        not to continually stray us off topic, but here's a completey random query to the group - anyone have an image of the emblem/insignia/badge (whatever you care to call it) of the Soviet era Air Defense Forces???

                        And if you can translate a couple words for me into Russian, even better Cyrllic, that would be great too :) Just let me know

                        I know a smallish chunk of German. I picked some cool phrases over the years. No clue what they mean, but they are just soooo German!!

                        I know a bit of German, all WWII related- lightning, lightning war, forbidden, yes, no, attention, military air, civil air, equivilant of Mrs., Ms., and Mr., etc. That's about it.

                        No Russian at all, though, so I'm lost through most of this.

                        Hey all-
                        Starting the unpacking process and as I suspected I have a MiG-23 - also a MiG-27. How about I do both? Of course, I'm still a long way from being ready to build - not even sure I'll be up and running by 21 June, but the end date is far enough out there that I dont think I'll have any problems.

                        Some news from this front-

                        The BI-1 arrived in the mail a few days ago, and from a first look I can say flash is the name of the game. Every part will need cleanup. On the plus side, there seems to be a fair amount of plastic for a kit this small (just under 4 inches), about 20 parts. I'll be able to get pics of it later this week. This should be... interesting.

                        Hard call that one to mate, i could have sworn the Wallabies would have taken out the last Tri Nations but it was S A who came out with the trophy, Thats whats great about the competition, so many good teams that are always very competative.....We probably won't see much of the Games here, Rugby League kinda dominates the TV here....

                        Here we go...1/72 Scale MiG-19S "Farmer" KP with Czechmaster Photoetch details. Raised detail {Dead [xx(]}, not alot of flash, but plenty to work on, decals look pretty good as well...am going to use SnJ Spray Metal w/polishing powder for the finish. Waiting until 21 June for the start.

                        21 June is good for me too...however I will posting photos soon of the KP MiG 19 and it's aftermarket...everything is still on the sprues...May do a step by step build with progress photos...
