marc,
no prob man, glad you like it. No worries on being less than able to work on the dora. I wont touch that baby until I am good and ready to put forth all my effort on it.

I had to edit the post because I forgot to mention the whole Oktober fest thing.

Thumbs Up [tup] Smile [:)]

OK... 1 last question.... HA yeah rightWink [;)]

Yes I know I have the power of the internet at my finger tips for research and references... but if you had to buy 1 book for Fw 190 D-9 info, with the best detail photos of engine and plumbing, wheel wells, inside open hatches, tail wheel... well you get the idea...what would it be.

Marc, don't know if this is the best book, but I have the Squadron walk around book and the photos are pretty good. Lots of color and b&w shots of restored birds CP& wheelbays plus some very nice pics of an un-restored CP. Lots of good plumbing pics too. Hope this helps.

The Squadron walk around is pretty darn good, hard to beat Squadron for "bang for your buck".

Hope to get some more bench time this weekend and get further on my Dora. I am really wanting to finish this one up right!!!

EDIT:
Question: Which type of canopy had the system to keep the antenna wire tight? I cannot remember, and am trying to finish up all the little details of my D9. BTW I am using the blown canopy.

Thanks

That is the same thing that I was thinking. Thanks for the info.

Good news is that she is sitting on her own feet and I'm almost ready to spray the Future and begin the decaling and weathering!!! Cant wait to get her finished so I can figure where I went wrong for the next Dora!!!!

Hopefully I'll have some pics to post some time this week.

Thumbs Up [tup]

That's a great looking cockpit Josh. I used a PE set for the first time on my build and it worked quite well. What scale is that?

BTW, this reminds me that I should get back to my build soon......

Well, I shot a coat of future onto the bird last night, and will be finishing up the prop and spinner tonight so I should get to decaling either tonight or tomorrow. (hopefully) I should have this beautiful bird done before too much longer. I always seem to rush towards the end and I am trying very hard not to do that with this one. I have a couple of small pieces to paint and then add all the little breakable bits to it as well. Plus I have to weather it at least a bit, although it does look very nice with just a few oil stains, etc, like it has only been flown once.

No prob, I'm finding it very easy to slow down and do it right on this one. Last night I worked on the cannon barells, replacing the front 1/3 with hollow brass rod, and then I rebuilt the pitot tube completely from brass and wire, I think that it looks 100% better than the kit part. I also opened up the mounting holes for the centerline drop tank hard point and the mounts for the retractable step. I should be able to paint those along with the other small pieces today and then it's time for another coat of future and the decals.

I am really trying to make this my best project to date and am throwing a ton of effort into it.
Thanks to everybody for all the info and encouragement.

Edit: Here are a couple of pics from before the decaling

OK - Decals on, coated them with future and debating on how best to weather this bird. I really dont want to screw this up cuz i think that it is the best kit that I have built so far. And this will put this GB back on page 1. Smile [:)]
