Fw190D/Ta-152 "Langnase" Group Build

I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing yet, but you can definitely count me in. I'll get back to you in a week or so to tell you what I have planned. Looking forward to it.

What are the start and end dates that we are looking at here. I wouldn't mind getting in, just depends on the time frame.

I'll be doing the 1/48th Tamiya kit. Iam not sure what paint scheme to do, little unsure about the red underbelly on the kit decals.

I want in!!! I'll have to see what I can find for a reasonable price as I have a ton already here that need to be built as well. What is the time line that you are looking at? I should be able to let you know what I'll build in about two weeks!

You can sign me up with a Hasegawa 1/32 Fw-190D-9, with all the trimmings(cockpit, exterior detail, landing flaps)!!! This is going to be a monster build!!! Possibly looking at making this the famous yellow 10, so I have ordered that decal sheet from eagle cals!!!

Start date is immediate (just got my Trimaster Dora today!) and end date is open ended. Just enjoy the build and POST PICS!

I'm not sure which JV44 bird to start with. Red 1,3 or 13? hmmm decisions decisions!

We'd discussed that briefly in the aircraft forum, but I really wanted to keep it strictly to inline-powered 190s.

Has anyone ever built the Hasegawa kit of the D-9 "fall of the Reich Fighter"? It comes with PE and white metal. It's on a 50% discount at greatmodels right now.

OK i'm in with the Tamiya D9 1/48 with the eduard coloured pe set, not sure on the scheme yet, have to do some research

Well, not being one to waste too much time, I've gotten started on building "Red 3". Fuselage has been glued together and I've completed the cockpit. The entire cockpit interior got a coating of RLM66 followed by a spray of clear sealant and a flat black sludge wash. After that dried, I drybrushed the detail with flat white.

I also assembled the wing and did the required surgery on the gear well. I'm gonna scratchbuild the rear of the engine this time. Probably will splurge for the resin engine plug on one of the future builds I've got planned.

I also inserted the cowl gun tubing (I forgot how cool those look!) and chose to use a pitot tube from one of my other DML 190s so I could use the remainder of the small diameter tubing for gun barrels on the next few Doras.

I'm amazed at how well the fuselage and wing fit together. I've never had a great fit with any of the later copies of the DML kit or any follow-on pressings. This one literally falls together! The white metal landing gear fit very nicely after a bit of cleanup and give it a nice, sturdy stance.

So, right now she's waiting for an engine and then I'll join the fuselage and wing. She'll be ready for priming and pre-shading after that!

Cool deal with the end date being open. Now I just have to get my other two builds done for another GB.

I'm making massive amounts of progress on two of my builds. Red 3 and 13 are up on their gear, although the wings haven't been permanently joined to the fuselages. I've opened the gear wells on both and will be putting visible engines in them. It is amazing the difference between the DML and Trimaster kits. For some reason, Trimaster fits perfectly, while the DML kit has some serious gap issues. Very odd.

as for myself i'm still in the research part of the build, but i did find a set of "Pic As' decals in the folder so i'll probably go with those...........

As far as I know, the "Pik As" of JG53 never flew the D-9. Major Franz Gotz, pilot of "Yellow 10", the 190D-13 that was brought back to the US was originally with JG53 and did have an ace of spades on his bird, but that's about it. I may be wrong, but that's what my research has uncovered.

I'm going to get some pics up later today of my progress.

I wish to join this GB, I can start building in June after my two current builds are finished and out of the way. My kit(s) will be the Tamiya 1/48 scale kit and/or the Academy 1/72 or Airfix 1/72 scale kit, maybe all three!
I prefer my models built OOB, so no open panels or fancy parts on my Doras. I have been looking for a reason to build one of these Tamiya D-9s, even though they are not perfect, most builds I have seen of the Tamiya kit look very good to me and I want to see what I could do with one of them.

Is anyone else doing a Ta-152-tailed bird, or a Ta-152 for that matter?

I'd like to do a Ta-152, but I can't find a kit. Do you know what kits are available in 1/48 scale? If I can find one, I'll do one of them instead of a D.

Trimaster did a Ta-152H-1 in 48th which was later issued by DML and then Italeri. Finding the Trimaster one is VERY difficult, since it is the rarest one and they go for BIG bucks. The DML and Italeri pressings are much easier to come by. There are a few up on ebay right now, although the Italeri one is a bit overpriced.

Hmmm thats a bit of a problem, i wanted to try my hand at a similar camo scheme as yellow 10 but, with a Tamiya D9 on the shelf i can't justify going out and buying a D13...
I may have to exercise a little artistic licence on this one cause i'm biting at the chaff to have a crack at the extensive mottle job.............

I've got the first part of my build in place. I got the eduard PE set for the italeri 190D kit. Now all I have to do is pick up the kit I saw at the LHS last weekend. Hope someone hasn't gone and bought it before me......
