Your build looks great so far Jon. I like the camo job.Thumbs Up [tup]

I now have a kit for this GB. I've just won the Revell 1/48 FW-190D-11 off ebay for a bargain. For those who don't know, the Revell kit is another re-boxing of the older tri-master molds with the metal parts replaced with plastic ones. The eduard PE set for the italeri kit should do nicely for this one too (pretty much the same kit).

Pingy good to hear you've got the kit, Btw i've got the Eduard coloured PE set here for the Tamiya D9 and it's a vast improvement over the OOB c/pitThumbs Up [tup]

Yeah, this set gives the option of replacing the whole cockpit tub with a PE item. Don't know If I'll use the PE tub, but there is alot of other details I'll use for the cockpit. Haven't used one of the coloured sets before though. What are they like?

Yeah i don't reckon i'll use the PE tub either, i'll just add the rest of the PE detail to the Tamiya tub...........
I don't know what the sets are like cause i've never used one before either but it looks very nice especially the I/P...........

Jon,
I pulled out my Tamiya Fw 190D-9 kit from my storage area and looked over the kits contents and looks like it is very easy to build. Besides the well known problem with the enclosed wheel wells the other noticeable thing is the main wheels look too small, but that will be easy to fix with resin replacement wheels.
If I can't get the resin parts soon I might build one of my 1/32 scale Doras instead of the Tamiya kit, I will be able to start this GB in about two or three weeks a lot depends on how much I can get done on my current builds this next holiday weekend.

I hear ya! I've got a 1/32 AH-64D conversion to finish within the next few days. It is going to the 1st Cav Museum down at Ft. Hood and I have to get it there before I go to training camp on the 14th, so everything else is on hold until late July when I get back from Ft. Lewis.

So much to do and no friggin time to do it!

I started the engine for the Dragon Ta 152 tonight. The instructions for the Trimaster kit include wiring and plumbing directions, which will save a lot of photo decyphering and guesswork. I hope to have the engine done by the beginning of the week.

My kit and all the goodies has shipped from Great Models so I should have it by the end of next week. I'm working on F-14 B and D kits right now, the B is Hasegawa and the D is Revell Germany, so I'll have to wait until those are done to get started with my Dora. That also gives me more time to research how to work the conversion to a D-13 from the D-9.

I finished the engine for the 1/48 Dragon Ta 152 tonight. I used Alcad II Magnesium and Aluminum, along with Metalizer Burnt Iron. I wired and plumbed it with finbe wire and micro solder.

I'll be building the bird with the cowl panels open.

Thanks Dragan, pingtang, mkhoot, biscuit, matrixone, and blkhwkmatt !

pingtang - the engine is included in the Trimaster, DML, and Dragon kits. Only the Trimaster kit has PE and white metal parts for the engine. The other releases have less PE, and no white metal. As released by Italeri, there is no engine, however.

matrixone - there are almost 50 parts for the engine alone. Almost a kit all by itself !

Here's a shot of it with a #11 blade, just for scale.

Thanks again ! The cockpit will be next. Lots of PE goodies for this area !

Thanks Jon, Bryan, and Josh !

I got most of the PE into the cockpit today. I hope to have it painted tomorrow. I also removed the flaps, and have most of the wheel well assembled. The engine compartment will be RLM 02, and the wheel wells in NMF. This is the third one I've built, and the second with Eduard PE. It goes much smoother the third time around !

I got a little work done on my d11. I got the the interior done. If you install the instrument panel per the instructions it sits to low there's about a 1/8" gap at the top. I glued the lower panel to the side consoles per the instructions and cut off the mounting tab for the upper panel. I glued the upper panel to the bottom of the glare sheild its hard to see in the picture but I think it looks better.

When in doubt just build it. Mark http://www.ipmslivonia.org/ipms/

mkhoot,
I built the ProModeler D-11 kit last year and found the same you problem discovered about the instrument panel not fitting correctly if the instructions were followed. I also solved the problem the same way.
On the side of the box the picture of the built up model shows the landing gear angled way too far towards the aft end, the gear legs should be angled slightly forward.
Also the instructions give some odd recommendations for the uppersurface camouflage colors.

Nice job so far mkhoot.

I'll be building the Revell kit soon (I think it's the same as the pro-modeller kit), so I'll probably run into the sam problems. Thanks for the heads up.Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks j.s. !

Coming along nicely, mkhoot !
When I build a 190, I always attach the lower instrument panel to the cockpit consoles, and the upper one to the assembled fuselage from below. They always align that way. The PE panels in the Trimaster, DML, and Dragon kits need to be separated from each other first.

Here are a couple pics of some of the work I got done on the cockpit today. The instrument panels, seat, belts, and fuselage halves are also painted, but there's not much to see there. This is as much of the detail painting I can do until after the wash and drybrush. I added bits from wire and solder to it, along with parts from the Eduard PE set.
