Jules Scott Adams wasn't joking with the Dilbert cartoons!

Life in IT is really like thatShock [:O]

I have a pile of Dilbert books on my desk, not for amusement but as a training aid..............people read the cartoon............. laugh,.............. then realise it's them in the cartoon!!!!

Jules - yeah, as you've noticed by the number and mental imbalance of the IT people here on the forum it takes a "special" person to do the job... either totally numb and uncaring, or totally lost it in the head... I'm one of the lost it in the head type.

If you can find it, there's an older (1980's?) movie called Office Space that will give you a birds eye view into our world. (and quite a few laughs I'll bet too!)

BTW: Kremps called and wanted me to let you know she needs her sandals back. She said them she left them in your back yard when she was out shaving her legs with the garden shears and the waterhose the other night. (she can only do it at night lest the neighbors complain)

That Origin game was a shocker!Shock [:O]

I cant beleive 1 man can make such a difference.

Tell ya this much, Game 3 will be a CORKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe Qld should take a leaf from NSWs book and bring Big Mal back, or even The Little General.

Nah, we're tougher than that.
Did they test Johns for caffeine I wonder?Wink [;)]

Tom I'm numb and uncaring type I'm afraid and that's on my good days Big Smile [:D]. Still it pays the bills.

Oh and I love that movie especially the guy who keeps getting moved to a smaller and smaller desk, then finally the basement. Although classified as a comedy, it is actually more of a documentary Tongue [:P].

Cheers

I alternate between the two, depending on who I'm dealing with.

3rd party supplier, developers and project managers definitely get the numb. thousand yard stare treatment, especially at 4.30 on a Friday afternoon.

For everyone else, I'm just off my head!

There do seem to be alot of IT bods on the forum though.

Wow we could start our own support group here!

Karl - agree with the treatment of sales staff, contract project managers etc... Sales staff especially... I've got one joker calling me 3 times a day at times trying to sell me things we don't need. So when I tell him I can't use it he calls back 4 hours later, calls it by another name, and says it's the solution to our problems... (I was unaware there WAS one) I've taken to putting him on hold and playing the staring game with my phone till he hangs up. His record so far is 42 minutes on hold..... Evil [}:)]

----edit----

Oh yeah I am the unstable one... and talk about Office Space'ish. My office is actually a store room! (once you get past the first row of shelves it's actually quite nice! I even have a fridge back there now but my boss doesn't know! Wink [;)] Until it comes to two specific techs then I am the cold and uncaring one... one of them actually LOSES what little knowledge he had as each day goes by...

Jules It's not as bad as it sounds really, there are good points, like being able to go online at work!!!!!Thumbs Up [tup]

Like now.

Tom I'm lucky I don't get to deal with sales staff, I don't think they're much interested in change managers. I did have the satisfaction of balling out a couple of project managers for complete incompetence yesterday though. That always leaves me with that deep down satisfied feeling.Wink [;)]

IT is fun, you just have to treat it as one giant Dilbert cartoon!

I'm off to harass a certain 3rd party supplier.......

Oh i definatly agree Tweets but watching Johns play at his best was pretty cool, you see how he kept moving the ball wide with those long cutout passes and when QLD expected him to do the same he went down the middle and got a line break every time, not to mention the kicking, 4 from 4 and a 40/20........
I expect QLD will definatly plan thier defence around his style of playing for game 3 so it should be a good one to watchTongue [:P]

Jules I'm a Newcastle supporter, so I'm stoked to see him back to his best. Would like to see him play this weekend, because they are playing Manly, my brothers favourite team (the best moment was when Newcastle beat Manly in the grand final in '97 Party [party]). I've seen Johns do those things you mention so many times for te Knights, they just don't get seen like in State of origin.

BTW.....I know it's off topic again, but I should be able to get some paint on that 109's pit this weekend. I know I said that last weekend, but all did not go according to plan, so it got delayed. Will post pics as I go......

Wow, Aussie team getting a flogging huh!
Damn shame that, thought they would be winners for, what, the 6th year running?

It had to end, just like it ended for the Windies, Pakistan, Poms etc.
I want to see the West Indies up at their best againApprove [^]

At least then we won't see rubbish behaviour on the news like that Censored [censored] Warne got away with.
I thought acting like a nobby went out with Boon and Merv.

Yeah the Aussie cricket team can't win all the time fellas, wev'e just become accustomed to them flogging all teams before them........But i did find it hard to believe that Bangledesh beat them................

Even we beat Bangladesh!!!!

Twice.

But then the Aussie cricket team did get slaughtered by Somerset, a county side!Shock [:O]

Still you'll just have to look to the Lions Rugby tour for some semblance of pay back!

And not Aussie Rules either!

I always got the impression there weren't too many rules to Aussie Rules, is that true?

Aussie Rules, i personally don't get that involved in that code, i prefer the 2 codes of RugbyThumbs Up [tup]

And Karl I think we still owe the Lion's some payback for that last World Cup final....
But i have to admit way back during the last World Cup rugby the Lions played some great footy......

QUOTE: Soccer?

Oh, you mean football.

Yeah, I meant football. Thought I'd call it soccer so all the americans and other aussies would know what I was talking about.

There's not much to AFL at all mate. Just boot the ball as hard as you can at the goals and try and get it back when you miss. Not as good as rugby league or footall IMO, but I'm not victorian am I????

BTW, I managed to get that coat of RLM 66 on the cockpit today. I'll give it a wash tonight, and do the dry-brushing and detail painting tommorrow. Might use some spare decals for the IP dials, because there's not much in the way of detail there.

Ralph - it sounds like Pingtang has made some progress so hopefully soon! I thought it interesting too and am glad we finally got enough people revved up for it for it to fly! Who knows me may be on page 456 of Guiness one day!

ok I just checked and there doesn't APPEAR to be a Guiness record for either the most people to build a single model, OR the distance a model kit has travelled in its assembly.

They say on the site it takes 4 to 6 weeks to determine if a record has been made. I say we need to take a picture next to either the sign marking our town (the kind on the city limits) or something of that nature to PROVE we sent it from point A to point B, as well and keeping the postal reciepts when we ship it... that is if you are all game to trying to get it in the record book!

Tom that's a brilliant idea, even if it doesn't work it's still a brilliant idea and it sure as heck beats seeing how many live scorpions you can stuff into your shorts in order to get in to Guiness.

Cheers

Tamiya 1/48 Do 225 Arrow (Pheil) with some AM bits in it, i already have an Aries DB -603 engine which would look great as the rear engine and i'm fairly sure that Eduard do a PE set for the Pit as well................Any thoughts fellasQuestion [?]
